Why is this game being forced onto others? Since release day i’ve seen countless posts (in other game sub-forums) trying to get people into SG , if this game was decent it would stand on it’s own without people trying to build false hype around it. If the game is so great play it and keep the circle-jerking in the SG sub-forum, not others…thanks.

It’s an indie game made for the FGC by the FGC that’s sold only via download. Expect people to hype it up. I mainly just tell people it’s a good game, but I’ll occasionally troll my friends with the whole “you gotta buuuyy” thing since that’s the apparent stigma with the game.
It’s just you shouldn’t be surprised about it. That’s the only strange thing really.
The same thing has been happening with pretty much any non Capcom fighting game. Have plenty of people in the Marvel thread hyping up other games like KOF 13 and Smash and whatever else. It’s just done out of hype for the game.

Why is it a problem when the game is Skullgirls?
Every community for a new game does this; SF4, SFxT, Marvel 3. Hell, there was one guy at a tournament I threw trying to convince me to run Vanguard Princess for our next tournament. For some reason people are taking it personally when someone tries to bring up Skullgirls in a conversation.
It’s made by the FGC, for the FGC. And because of it’s grassroots origins, people want to see it succeed.
It’s like they say; any publicity is good publicity.
Same shit happen with SFXT
I bet good money people did the same with KOF13. I mean Marvel 3 forum literally can stop taking about that game.
People won’t stop talking about Persona4.
Same thing will happen with Virtua Fighter 5.
People probably don’t like Skullgirl enough to be interested.
To answer your question OP, competitive games need people playing them (duh), the more the better.
I want more people to play Dark Souls, but everyone thinks I’m insane and it hurts me inside everytime someone says It’s too hard.
