Evening.
Been looking for a tv for the all around use. Tv watching/gaming. Until I read the very long thread about gaming tv’s I’d assumed they were all the same as the old tubes. Turns out I was mistaken.
My question is, is it possible to get a tv that can game and can also be bearable to watch regular cable on? Or is it more a trade off for one or the other?
Let me explain a bit. For the longest time I watched tv on a tube. Nice picture the people moved around our eyeballs watched, everything’s good. Tube tv dies after couple decades, it’s now the flatscreen era so of course tubes are no longer sold in Kmart and the like, so we get a 32" flatscreen, and tv viewing is back and better then ever. (well same I suppose.)
Flash forward some years later and I’m now looking to buy another tv. I buy a samsung led 32" But what I see on there is just god awful pixilation chopping of peoples faces when they move even a hair. Like when you watch an upload of something online and whoever uploaded it did a really sucktastic job. Turns out the prior 32" I bought years back was a plasma by vizio which can’t be found anymore in that size. Now blurays on my ps3 with hdmi cable, fine, no problems with chopping or anything.
So this led me to believe that watching regular expensive yet craptastic cable on a lcd/led would result in that horrific picture and I’d need a plasma. However after reading some it sounded like plasma’s weren’t great for gaming as they had a issue with lag in response time? I know they fixed the burn in issue and altitude thing, glass pane facing away from a sunlight source takes care of glare.
So my question, is plasma the answer to the bridge between crappy cable and gaming, or does plasma have a hard time of gaming? If it came down to it i’d choose gaming and just stream crap to the tv, though I gotta admit I’m usually so lazy I just sit in the office chair and watch it on the 20" pc screen.
Thanks for any insight.
