<br>The fact that people put so much stock in pledges in the first place is the first thing that is wrong. <br><br>But then again this is Amerikkka<br><br>The second thing that is wrong is if your kid failed a test, your first thought shouldn’t be to call a reporter, it should be to make sure your sorry ass kid passed. I wouldn’t want someone asshole like that in my class room if they were potential trying to end my career because they think they are better than the people that live all of 20 miles away. Fucking coconuts make me sick man.<br>
Granted, I dont think pledges mean a thing, but if someone else does they shoudlnt be forced to recite them against their will, and as a teacher you need to have some awareness to sensitive issues with your students. Thats not the issue here anymore though, she got a different assignment to make up for it, which was the right thing to do, and it shouldve ended there, but whether she was treated unfairly, which it sounds like from not being allowed to attend the class anymore, or she just failed it on her own ‘merits’ and is just looking for an excuse is where the real issue lies at this point, or where it should lie anyways.<br><br>Edit: Agreed again, but from the facts so far whether her parents checked she deserved to pass or not is not something we can really know, but although I might’ve missed it I didnt see anywhere on the op that the first thing her parents did was call a reporter, plus if her mother really is mexican I dont see how she couldve failed something as simple as that, then again, when I was teacher “how could they fail something so easy” was a question I asked myself one too many times. >_><br>
She aint raza after this. bitch just gave up her brown points, she white now. Enjoy your new found minority status stoopid gringa.

Well, how would the religious people here like it if they were forced to undergo a christening or the equivalent of a christening of another religion?<br><br>What the fuck does learning the history of a country which isn’t even the origin of the language you are learning got to do with learning that language?<br><br>And why the fuck should someone be forced to sit out of a class (which will obviously impact their chances of passing) because they simply told someone about something that happened at their school?<br><br>Seriously giving someone a history assignment they will be graded on for a language class and then excluding them from classes over simply not making a pledge they don’t wish to make reeks of bullshit, she was basicaly set up to fail at that point.<br>
She didn’t have a problem with speaking Spanish. She had a problem with pledging loyalty to Mexico. There’s nothing wrong with that honestly.
Throughout my four years of Spanish in high school, not once have I been given a similar assignment. My teachers were from various Spanish-speaking countries which may explain that, but nonetheless that is a pointless assignment.

WTF…you’re confusing Spanish class with Tagalog class.
I made tacos for Spanish class. That was a good day. Texan food WHILE learning the native language of urban Massachusetts.

I just feel bad for those other traitors who said the pledge. It is indeed treason, and while they should rightly be put to death, I can’t help but think their lives would have been different if they weren’t brainwashed by the public schools and their gay, socialist agenda. If they were educated in charter schools, which that 20/20 hour-long infomercial tells me are wonderful, this never would have happened.<br>

I’m confused. They didn’t force her to do it. They gave her an alternative assignment. If you write all this off as bullshit (which we probably should), then you also write off the regular american pledge of allegiance as bullshit. A lot of people aren’t cool with that. In fact, a LOT of people are very patriotic and consider the pledge as something sacred.</div><div style=“font-style: normal;”><br></div><div>So when you give a lot of weight to one pledge, the act of saying <i>any</i> pledge becomes a big deal. I can actually see a lot of people standing behind her stated intentions (to protect her loyalty to America) as a very important cause. The fact that she failed the course is then irrelevant in terms of supporting her case, and becasue she was prevented in attending, I would actually say that it supports it. She was doing her patriotic duty, she was just being a good american, and because of this, she unfortunately failed her course and this is wrong. She should not be faulted for being a patriotic american and refusing to pledge allegiance to another country, regardless of the circumstance, and also regardless of alternative assignments. Think about it from a hardcore patriot perspective… You have to pledge allegiance to another country, by reciting something you memorized, and if you refuse, you will have to do the harder assignment and write out a complete essay in a foreign language… yeah, redneck patriots are NOT gonna be cool with that. </div><div><br></div><div>Of course, this is total horseshit paranoia and “DAY TUK AR JARBS!” think, and she should’ve just done the work and learned the pledge, but unfortunately, in a land like america, this shit is a big deal. It’s also too bad that they completely removed her from the course, as that basically guaranteed her a fail… which isn’t really fair if you think about it (you can pass a course while still failing one assignment), and just adds to her pity party from the 'murikka group, as she is now punished extra for being a “good american” by essentially being barred from a school course (her education) by refusing to pledge loyalty to another country (which, no matter how you slice it, is pretty fucking retarded).</div><div><br></div><div><span style=“font-family: ‘lucida grande’, ‘Lucida Sans Unicode’, tahoma, sans-serif; line-height: 1.7em;”>She’s going to win this shit I think. She may not win a lot, but at least the right to do the course again. I think she deserves that much (even if she is a fucking stubborn idiot)</span><br></div><div><span style=“font-family: ‘lucida grande’, ‘Lucida Sans Unicode’, tahoma, sans-serif; line-height: 1.7em;”><br></span></div><div>The teacher should’ve just recognized all this shit at the start and fixed it too… Anything involving the pledge and patriotism is a huge can of worms in america, and to not be able to recognize this mess and prevent it means they’re a fucking idiot. Most people are cool and don’t flip the fuck out when shit like this comes up, but that doesn’t mean you have to go and make a big deal about it, because there is guaranteed to be one idiot who waves the fucking flag and looks for the patriot pity party. <span style=“font-family: ‘lucida grande’, ‘Lucida Sans Unicode’, tahoma, sans-serif; line-height: 1.7em;”><br></span></div>
People find pledges important so it is possible the chick is really patriotic, but blaming the school for failing a replacement assignment is fucking stupid
So yeah, just because you can opt out of the American pledge doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to do an assignment that is a grade on your oral proficiency in a language. The whole fact of the matter is that people don’t recite the American pledge strictly for religious reasons, and no that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to use money because it has the word god on it dumb asses. Anyway, it’s not like there is some offensive wording in the Mexican pledge itself, unless you count the absence of any religious references. <br>
