I’m just saying that this game is seemingly using that as it’s only or more prominent point of advertising, and I don’t like that. YO BRO LOOK AT THESE SEXY GIRLS.
But that’s what AH did, but catering to JP trends instead. To be more accurate, that’s the main selling point of its aesthetics. The game also had great mechanics to cater to the more serious enthusiasts.
My point is that if you are going to shit on this game, it should be for its mechanics, not the marketing strategy.
So what’s the benefit of stagger state? In DOA, the risk of being counter held in crit state is balanced out by the fact that it leads to the bigger damage options (juggles, critical burst, power blows, etc.). There has to be some reward for the risk.
I think they can only attempt a hold for the first hit after a stagger connects. Granted, this may be wrong, as it’s hard to do a combo while trying to time holds with my feet lol.
But, as far as I was able to tell, you can only attempt it for the first hit, and not randomly during an actual combo string. Or after the initial hit after the stagger connects. At least not until you hit them with another stagger again.
Yesss, heck yes, this is the realness right here, getting research done without dummy recording or a programmable controller. Putting the other stick on the floor next to you, using your toes, using your elbows, holding two pads at the same time and hitting the trigger buttons against the edge of a table. It doesn’t matter! Whatever it takes! Data must be collected!!!
Just checked out the demo while waiting for tekken coins to replenish… holy shit this game is kinda terrible. PS2 graphics and Amstrad era game play. I can see why it would be compared against DOA but naw son, this thing is a straight up tragically poor.
