Gimlet DHC-input bug

i don’t see the point in complaining like this as a competitive player. if you know that something must be performed in a particular way then deal with it or move on. since not everything in the game is going to be designed to be intuitive in your eyes (even though the reason why this gimlet input thing happens is absolutely logical btw). this is just another piece of knowledge to learn and adapt to. chris g probably didn’t know about the the input thing when he attempted that dhc for instance, but do you think hes going to sit and complain about it? or is he just going to make sure its inputted correctly in the next instance?

and on your personal examples with magneto… if you’re getting a repulsor, then thats REALLY bad inputs on your part (how do you get a 421 move while doing forward superjumps??). im going to presume you mean disruptor since thats 236 and thus a more realistic error. anyways in either case, its more you not doing the inputs required to get what you want than it is not being intuitive (you should be doing either 258/9 or 369).

also, there really isn’t a need to attack stark like that. after reading that thread on the video page it seems like she blocked you because she was running out of ways to communicate the point to you. i can’t say she was wrong for that considering your response, either. just put your ego to the side for a second…

I could be wrong but it just feels like the Negative Edge in this game has been increased from vanilla.

This bug was in vanilla, shit used to happen with me with Dante’s level 3. It -is- worse in this game though, so IDK…

That’s absolutely crazy. She’s accusing me of calling her “uncompetitive” and not valuing precision when nothing I said in that video section implicated her in particular of any such things. I was speaking abstractly and simply constructing my general argument. Only the most fragile mind would look at those comments and make the assumption I was talking about them in particular. She was the one that wasn’t interested in having a discussion and she made that absolutely clear in her whopping 2nd exchange with me: if you’re not concerned with the philosophy of the circumstances, you’re not concerned with the TRUTH. Period.

As for the rest of your post: as a competitive, but conscious mind that actually manages to wander beyond the realm of simply beating people at video games; the point of “complaining” is at the behest of the principles I’ve already outlined. I’m all about my principles. The lenient input system in this game, while capable of being circumvented artificially, is still hampering my desired approach to this game and fighting games in general. Not only that, but I believe, based on the principles outlined, that it’s harming many of the people it was ultimately designed to help (how many people have you seen complain of not being able to do an DP in this game after transitioning from SF4?).

It boggles my mind that you of all people would defend it. Why should I have to practice things that circumvent intuition? It’s an added execution barrier for those trying to get to the heart of the game. I’ve spent countless hours just trying to practice getting air dash attacks, quickly, in the 1/3 position without getting Air Disrupter or Unibeam. That’s not something I should be forced to practice to be consistent at. It’s silly. It’s easy enough to conceptualize in the mind and execute that any able bodied person that has played fgs for a number of years. I had to divise an arbitrary motion just to get that to work for me, without thinking about it. I had to retrain my intuition.

How do you not see that as a problem worth at least highlighting?? Mindboggling. Just “get used to it”? No, I won’t, because I love FGs I don’t want to see this shit persist in the genre anymore.

Edit

And yes I was thinking of Disrupter. I always mix up the names for some reason.

Ack. I thought this was in the the General Discussion board? Why is this stuck here, in the Hawkeye section, when the discussion is larger than him?

the question of whether or not who likes what isn’t relevant. i said that why it happens is logical, not i think that it is particularly intuitive (i don’t). what matters is how to deal with the issue itself, which was the point of the vid. people claimed that you couldn’t get a qcf super out of gimlet and she simply showed you could. opinions on the methodology shouldn’t be important.

and i agree that this discussion should be moved to the GD subforum, though trimmed of course.

Why? Because you say so? Not convincing. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but men with philosophies design games. Their dispositions are reflected in those games. When their philosophies directly contradict my own, I tend not enjoy their games as much, much, or at all. Since Capcom pays at least some attention to these forums I want them to know that I have a problem with the philosophy that drives this particular design decision and I’m obviously not the only one, as evidenced by the many others that “complain” about the leniency.

That’s like saying people shouldn’t have an opinion on Wesker. It’s an aspect of the game I don’t like and I want the creators to know.
