Ghostbusters if my favorite movie, and is probably the single greatest thing western comedy has produced, ever…
And I think the all-female cast has some strong potential!
I just hope they don’t actually try and imitate the original too hard. The OG crew just gelled together too well and had too much experience as a team beforehand.
What gets me is how working class the original Ghostbusters were. Egon Spengler had that cheap creepy professor look going on, Peter Venkman looked like a hobo with a PhD, Ray Stantz looked like the aforementioned hobo’s younger brother, and Winston Zeddemore was literally a black dude that walked in looking for a job.
The OG script had Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi and John Candy as ghost hunters. Now you’re replace all that with fucking hunk-o-the-month’s in one movie, and z-tier comedienne’s in another???
Cool, maybe we’ll get one OG Ghostbuster in each one, with obviously neither one being Bill Murray.
None. I would stick with proven funnymen, like the first did. Literally TONS of good comedians, especially from the New York area where the films take place. Could throw in Jim Norton, Robert Kelly, Rich Vos, Bill Burr, virtually anybody from the cast of SNL (like the OG cast), I could go on and on. I don’t want generic actors in these rolls. I don’t want crazy action sequences and love stories. I want funny every day guys, catching ghosts and tossing out one liners.
Everyone Soviet listed has been in tons of shit ranging from big to small time shit…
Besides not like you need A Tier actors for Ghostbusters when the true genius behind it isnt even in the acting of the cast.
I agree…but the way to go isn’t with traditional actors who have been in comedy roles, but with comedic c-lister’s, putting their EVERYTHING into a movie. Not only were the OG Ghostbusters guys who worked together a lot, they were people who hadn’t been making any big things, but had done lots of little things, and were suddenly given some money, and talent, to make a legendary movie.
Going with a bunch of actor/comedian’s from NYC would have kept the humour somewhat local, as well as given you guys who had grown together over the years, something the original movie used successfully. I had the same problem with the chick movie. They went with funny girls, but it was girl’s who had been funny in chick flick’s. Girl’s that SHOULD have been in that movie, ended up getting snubbed.
How is it the first person announced for the men isn’t an SNL cast member? At least the women were smart and announced Wiig first.
He still has funny left…he’s afraid to show his old side, because he has kid’s now. He needs to just embrace his past, like how Chappelle probably won’t hide his show from his kid’s when they’re older.
Eddie wants to keep getting them Disney roles. It’s not that he isn’t funny, it’s just that he’s a moderately half assed sellout.
