But we all want to influence culture and to do that we have to be driven by the results of our work.

What I find humorous is how you mention vacuum as if all this shit influenced the movie after the fact which if it did would explain why it is apparently so cheap looking, being the product of last minute rewrites and using less takes to meet deadlines.
If anything if you are going to write a review the only thing you should be comparing movies to as far as influences is of course other movies. Kinda like if I were to read a review of a game I would like for the person doing the reviewing to be talking about perhaps the games predecessors and not dumb shit like people making rude comments about it on youtube. If you read what I wrote I never claimed journalist are paying people to make up accounts. Rather I just pointed out that in the last few days there’s been a sudden/unexplained surge of day 1 accounts posting all over the ghostbusters reddit in a very stereotypical "anti-woman"way. I don’t recall there being any evidence of reviewers being paid off, there’s only been 1 questionable YouTube review and the strange case of the revised IGN review with a higher score.
As for the sexist movement against this movie, the issue here is that there wasn’t any sexist movement against the movie. If you look at all the major YouTube reaction videos to the trailers and popular social media personalities, the complaints ranged from the terrible CGI to the bad humor to the blantant anti-male rhetoric via the cast and director. One would need to have a very selective sample size that excludes the vast majority of complaints to conclude sexism was ever the main backlash. Moreover the point of a movie review is to review the merits of a movie. If you have a reviewer who has publicly announced a political bias towards a film and who is ideologically compelled to review it favourably…chances are nothing they say about it will be sincere and legitimate which is exactly what that link I provided showed. There are too many reviewers who have made it a point to the defend the movie beforehand who are now giving the movie good reviews even when they themselves admit the film is all types of mediocre.
If the positives of a movie are the politics behind it and less the movie itself then clearly the movie isn’t really good. I know a lot of people here say you’re just trolling for the sake of amusement so I’ll probably not go out of my way to make a serious response to you, but if you are being serious…yikes is all I can say.

Funny you mention that. Toys R US I work at have been stocking more of the retro Ghostbusters stuff. The merch from the new movie has just been Slimer, the marshmallow man, the car and the film’s logo. We ain’t carrying anything with the film’s cast anymore.

The marketing behind this movie has been terrible. I’ve often heard apologetics for this movie claim it’s a kids film so we shouldn’t judge it too harshly but I don’t think its been advertised to kids all that well.
It hasn’t been advertised to kids at all. Sony’s been using fan backlash and fake outrage in the film’s marketing. There’s no way they could sell it as a family film. Going all in with toys is a dumb move as Ghostbusters hasn’t been relevant with kids since 97.
The original cartoon still is the best thing to ever come out of this franchise.
