ive recently seen some jap vids of some potemkin matches and the shit ive seen him do is wicked…so now im trying to learn him…i mostly play w/ milla, dizzy, and test…but id like to learn potemkin cuz hes just so damn powerful and it looks like he has some nice set ups and a few other things…but i dont know a whole lot w/ him…i just know how to do his :l: (hold) :r: + HS cancel dash and a few small combos…plus what are all his FRCs? i know the :qcf:+P can be FRCed and the :l:, :r:+HS can be FRCed …but is that it? what are some good set ups? i know :r:+K stuns for a free :hcb:,:r:+P…but i need more …thanks for info in advance

6HS FRC and 2HS FRC both aren’t very usable practically
Basic Pot gameplay is go for knockdown at any time so you can start his mean okizeme. High-low with 5K/2K/2D or 6K/5D, tickbuster with 5P or 5K, stand alone potbuster, 623HS is they decide to jump away, 5HS or 6HS if they decide to backdash. Then constantly mix it up so you can keep getting knockdown til you win. Basic Pot strategy. I’ll cover some details later.

6HS FRC can be very useful on wakeup. Make them guess between blocking it, or blocking nothing(Wiff FRC) and getting Buster’d.
yeah but he has other less expensive ways of the same type of trick, plus alot of people don’t fall for it. Save your tension for Hammerfall FRC, etc.
Ive been messing around with popo also and a pretty neat trick is comboing in his potemkin buster from a 6K(which always staggers). Thats all ive got since I havent gone too in depth with him…yet:bgrin:

Hammerfall is your friend. You don’t have a ground dash or air dash, so getting around can be a bitch. You can jump a lot, but if its not on wake up, they will forward punch or other bullshit all day. Hammerfall break is very very good. Start charging back again so that you can do it again to move forward more.
You want to knock them down because potemkin has great wake up game and because it actually gives you time to get close to them. There is where slidehead(:qcf::s:) comes in handy. If you use this move while they are still on the ground(with some exceptions), they will get knocked down. You can also cancel into this move from your standing :hs:, which has lots of range. Once you knock them down, either slide head break multiple times towards them or just super jump. Your bread and butter combo is simple, :s:,:s:,:d::snkd:. This combos easily and gets you a knock down.You can do this off of a jumping :s:(which stuns on counter hit) or jumping :hs: (good for crossing up) and it will combo.
They might block your jump in and the following hits. There just do the :s:,:s: like normal, but I like then to then follow up with a standing :hs; which gives you LOTS of options. Like I said before, you can cancel the :hs: into slide head for the knock down if they don’t jump. Or you can cancel the :hs: into megafist(:qcf::p:) to move you forward again and possibly hit the. Or you can cancel the :hs: into megafist. Either you can then press :p: to break then follow up with more attacks, or you can let the hammerfall finish. Warning, blocked hammerfalls can be easily punished, don’t be predictable. If you have bar you can rc or frc the hammer fall and keep up pressure if they block, or do a good combo if it hitts. Hammerfall, rc or frc, :s:, :s:, :dp::hs:, :hcb::hs:, does great damage. If you have full or 75% tension, Hammerfall, rc or frc, :s:, :d::hs:, :qcf::qcf::s:. On get up, you are going to want to abuse your standing :k:, which hits low. From this you can go into your b&b combo, :s:,:s:,:d::snkd:. Or you can use :r::k: into potemkin buster, :hcb::r::p:, for an overhead combo. Or, if you think hes gungho on blocking, just wait a second and potemkin buster outright. Or, you can try ticking into potemkin buster on get up, or better yet, all the time. On get up, standing :k:, pause, then potemkin buster. You can’t throw people when they are in block stun, so you have to be sure to pause. The next tactic only works well on people that don’t have a good get up super(you don’t care if they don’t have bar) or a dp. Jumping slash is really good on get up. If they try to beat it out and fail, jumping slash staggers on counterhit, so you get a free combo into potemkin buster. or you can land, do :k:, then go into your b&b combo. Or you can be a really tricksy hobbit and do :r::k: after the jumping slash for another overhead. Landing potemkin busters in the corner makes you really really happy, because you basicly get to murder them for free. You can combo really easily after pb in the corner. After pb, do s, :dp::hs:, :hcb::hs. Or, if you have bar, do :s:, :d::hs:, :qcf::qcf::s:. Your :hcb::s: is also really useful, but takes a while to get the hang off. With the correct timing, you can reflect most of the projectile in the game. I don’t have the full list of everything it stops, but with a little experimenting, you should see that it stops a lot. It will absord the hit of the projectile and then send out a huge projectile wave that hits for one hits and staggers. I also think that the wave has to be fd in the air, but not sure. This allows you to get on top of your opponent of get a free heat extend(:dp::hs:, :hcb::hs) or heavenly(:qcf::qcf::s:) because they will ususally jump in trying to avoid it. Eventually with the right timing, you can do sweet shit like reflect fausts bombs, which is way to much fun. My favorite combo in the corner is: hammerfall, rc or frc, :hs:, :hcb::r::hs:, :r::hs:, heat extend. Crazy ammount of hardslashes in that combo. Another corner combo, if you hit with a heat extend while in corner(does not want to work after a heat extend comboed off a pb) rc last hit of heat extend, forward, heat extend. His other super is kinda useless. You have to be lucky to hit with it when you are getting up. I sometimes just do it after random jump ins because my opponent will be expecting pb and will trying to throw out a fast move to beat it. I don’t really remember the motion, I kinda do it without thinking about it. I think its :hcb:r::hs:, then the follow up is :hcb:hcb::p:. Only do the follow up if you are sure that the first part will hit. The first part is safe but the follow up is not. If you don’t want to do the follow up, the first part will stagger, so you can combo off of that. If they are close enough after stagger, out right pb them. If they are farther away, you will have to hammerfall, break, then potemkin buster, which is more difficult and requires good timing.
List of good ticks into potemkin buster:
- Standing k, pause, pb.
- Standing p, less of a pause, pb.
- Jumping s, land, pb.
- Megafist, pause, pb.
- If you are really close, and you do k,s, and if they hit(not blocked), you can then stop and pb them. Most people never see it coming.
Next couple are harder, but worth learning because they are so good.
6) Standing k, hammerfall break, potemkin buster.
7) From farther away: hs, hammerfall break, potemkin buster. Y
The problem with these is you have to press punch at the right time to stop hammerfall when you want to, but you have to be able to have the potemkin buster come out as soon as the lag from break stops. Most people will keep blocking becuase the hammerfall is coming at them.

thanks tuna…lots of good info there…i can do hammerfall break dashes pretty good…im just working on combos out of it and stuff and you gave quite a few i can use…potyo is a very powerful char and does lots of damage just kinda slow but his reach makes up for it…ill have to practice some of those potemkin buster combos too…if i can get good enough w/ him im wanting to use him in the next tourny im in.
a thing i use after his giganter super (:hcb:,:r:+:hs:) is hammerfall,FRC,:s:,:hs:,hammerfall…but im not sure anything connects after this…also the giganter starter is just for pressure to keep them at a distance for the hammerfall not for an actual connect…just needs at least 75% tension for it…though im sure you could probably do a hammerfall if it does connect but im not sure if that works or not…ive just been expirementing really so im still not sure about some things…but thanks alot for the info…ill keep testing :tup:
Don’t waste 50% to just “keep them at a distance”. Just be more careful as to where you put a Hammerfall to make sure it lands and keep the tension for later. Also the combo you should to do from FRC Hammerfall is 5S©, 5S(f), Heat Extend. It gets knockdown and more damage.
ive been working on some different things w/ the FRC hammer fall and heat extend…and actually i found something kinda cool w/ potyo…dont know if its already well known or not but it seems he has a kind of dust loop type thing…i was doing :d::s:,RC,jump,:s:,land,:s:,:s:,jump :hs:, land, :p:,:s:,jump :hs: …then repeat :p:,:s:,jump :hs:…works pretty well and you can also set up heat extend or :qcf::qcf::s: (heavenly potemkin buster) lots of mix ups can come from this and do anywhere from 50% to 75% dmg…dont really know if its breakable or not…but i was just trying things out in practice mode

If you have any questions at all, be sure to ask. There is probably a lot I don’t know because the only comp in Cincinnati are my few friends that play, but I have learned how to deal with some of the bullshit that makes potemkin hard to play. Characters that can be problems for you are Dizzy, Faust, bridget and Axl. Axl and Bridget because of there range keep away, dizzy because of her mobility and projectiles, but at least faust isn’t so bad in reload. Faust in XX is the devil. His standing slash having like a mile range means you can’t get in on him at all, and standing kick will stuff all your jump ins, usually leading into a air combo for faust. The range on standing slash is less in r and potemkins jumping slash will trade with faust’s standing k, staggering faust. This will leave you safe from an air combo and gives you actual options on getting close to faust.

ok just a few things about pot Dizzy really shouldnt be a problem BECUASE of her projectiles almost all dizzies are the same they will look for a combo and throw projectiles at u.When a dizzie player tries to lock u down with projectiles just FLICK ALL OF THEM. HCB S. And the flick is one of pots best attributes its anti lock down and when they try to come in on u and rush u down pot buster!! pot is the anti lockdown character i pot bustered THROUGH sols super once that is his best attribute and he has alot of anti air priority heavenly buster and heat extend also his jumping HS is awesome u can SJ and crossover with it. My favorite thing to do with him though is hammerfall cancel into pot buster

Pot loses to Dizzy FOR FREE!!! Everything that’s wrong with him, she exploits.
Yeah, if the Dizzy sucks and just goes for projectile spamming, you can flick all day long, but that’s the best you’re going to get. She has a very easy anti-flick pattern for the spear projectile by combining it with a fish. Fish absorbs the reflection, and you’re back to square one.
Flicking laser fish can be risky 'cause FDB has hella recovery, so that double air dash of hers lets her cross you up for free with the right setup. Don’t even bother flicking the laser on wakeup unless they don’t know what they’re doing.
You can FDB Ice Spike…if you’re psychic, lol. At least it’s not like XX Dizzy, where Ice Spike FRC was essentially a buff-as-hell Gunflame FRC (they were both bullshit, lol).
Oh yeah, she can Ice Spike you from behind the FDB projectile. Something to keep in mind.
Yeah, this matchup sucks. Hell, she can just throw a P or K fish you, spam (f)S in your face, and you can’t do shit. And if she gets bubble trap going, GGPO.
but i would want the dizzy to rush me down so all i would do is bait and potbuster all day like if the dizzy is stupid flick the arrow so they jump over the flick reflect and heavenly pot buster or just bait for the heat extend. or u can go through the first fish if u predict when thes gonna do it. but dizzy is a step above pot on this one but i mean if u play with a person alot u gonna just predict when there gonna icepike i usually do and get the flick off but its just a matter of baiting dizzy with pot to win thats all im sayen.
