Catch the opponents attack. Like a counter. Or with Jam, a parry right at the impact of the other persons attack.
omgomogmomgomgomgomgmogomgomgmogmog how does slayer beat uh… eddie gogogo
He Cant
haha i baited you.
of course he can.
Ok, here is a match that I would love some pointers on.
Potemkin vs. Bridget
To start off, I know that this is about the worst beating any character gets by default from another. But the last arcadia rankings I saw said it was a 7-3 in favor of Buri, meaning there has to be SOMETHING you can do. So, here’s some basic questions:
Afterknockdown, what’s the best way to put pressure on? Startship makes me scared to throw an attack (even if it is a free Buster if he whifs/I block, The problem here is of course tk’ed Starship) and the delayed getup can mess up other meaty games. The best things I can think of are 5k/2k just outside of throw range to make them guess, or a meaty Flick.
And the 800lb gorilla. Razor Roger. It is eventually going to come out, what is the best way around the s,s,hs>Razor lockdown? Is there any way beyond a lucky guess or opponent messing up?
I know it is a losing battle, but there has to be someway to beat down that boy/girl… thing…
Any other comments would be stellar.
mash fdb when he throws out razor roger. gg
The problem is that in XX at least, you cannot Flick Razor Roger. It doesn’t really count as a projectile, and he’d have to be right on top of you anyways.
I was flicking Razor Roger just last night in XX. Main thing is that you have to be hella close, and it doesn’t make it go away in XX.
so, as you were saying, dangief?
…
JP
Ok, my bad, but even with a flicked Razor Roger, the position doesn’t drastically change. Since he’s still on screen I can’t Hammerfall Break to close distance and jumping over with big ol’ Potman still doesn’t help a great deal.
This is all in XX, I have yet to get a copy of Reload.
Don’t forget, Pot’s c.d is pretty damn quick, and has good range, plus causes knockdown. Just something to put out occasionaly with the bridge man while on his feet, and not in the air. C.hs is good anti-air as well for Bridget. I would have to say that in this type of matchup it’s really important to keep the pressure on with Potemkin, you can’t allow bridget space or freedom. Jumping slash is great with Pot, mixed in with some megafists. Remember, blocked megafist is a free buster. Slidehead helps sometimes, like on some of bridget’s laggy moves(starship, killing machine etc.) Hope that helps somewhat…
I have a question.
I’ve been using eddie for a little while now, and I believe I may have screwed myself. I focused on the unblockables so much, i’m missing a lot of the basics to his game, like the little eddie tactics other then the unblockables…i’ve found c.hs CH is really good. But is that a move you can really cling to with eddie? c.hs, hs invite hell, dash in, they tech, f.p, j.k, j.hs, j.d is nice, but I dont know if it will work all the time. I guess I just need some not-so-basic eddie strats but things I can use and know with him when I can’t always do the unblockable. Thank you.
Oh, and my main character is Testament. I believe I have one of the best testament’s here in the US(very few of us there are though), so if anyone has questions with him feel free, hopefully I can offer some help…
Thanks.
Blocked megafist is never a free buster. They have to be stupid enough to stand there and take or, or throw out a move that will be swallowed up by potemkin buster. Anything with startup invincibility (lots of 6Ps), or anything that executes faster than buster (Sol’s 5K) will beat it out. Also, failing that, you can always throw him first because standard throws execute faster than command throws (as a general rule). Plus you can always jump out, but the safest method of escape is a backdash (even in the corner).
As far as Eddie goes, it’s really prudent that you learn how to use one move (such as forcing them to block a drill) to force them into blockstun and move the symbiote in with an attack in the meantime. Learning how to buffer those commands together (Eddie, then symbiote, Eddie+symbiote, symbiote, then Eddie) to form strings of attacks that keep them in blockstun takes a while to learn. Here’s an example.
At one character length away, force someone to block the buzzsaw. To get that, after a knockdown do 22S FRC, 5k, 5s©, 236k, 22H FRC, IAD j.s, j.H + j.K (make sure you hit these at the EXACT same time. If you do that, the symbiote will register the weaker hit, while Eddie will register the stronger one. So Eddie does j.H at the exact same time the buzzsaw starts up again), land and run into 6k FRC into command throw, or just run up and do the command throw, but you get the idea. If they block incorrently and get hit with j.s after the IAD, you can do one of three things.
-
IAD j.s, j.h + j.k (jumping hardslash + buzzsaw), land and run up and do 6k FRC into command throw -> unblockable.
-
IAD j.s, j.h + j.k (jumping hardslash + buzzsaw), land and run up into 5k, 5s (hold), 2d, (release slash), JC, j.k, j.h, j.d, land, SJ j.k, j.h, j.d.
-
IAD j.s (hold and release after a slight pause, the symbiote will do the uppercut and it will combo), symbiote uppercut, jump and do j.h, j.D, 41236+s (this will also buffer in another symbiote uppercut) -> unblockable. I don’t know EXACTLY how much of this last one works, but I know it leads to unblockable setups, I haven’t figured out a 100% way for this to work yet. It’s very strict in timing.

Wow, that’s really useful stuff. Kind of complicated, but something that doesn’t seem impossible. Thank u very much, I really appreciate that. So let me ask you a question…what are the odds of actually getting an unblockable on a experienced and well rounded player in a actual match? Does it happen often?..Thank you.
Oh, sorry for misconstrued Potemkin info. It was given me incorrectly, I thought blocked megafist was free buster…apologies.
not really but FRC it is great
Any tips on playing Ky against a good Anji? I seems to eat a lot of Fujin’s…
Pray for that knockdown to start up Ky’s okizeme. Anji has difficulty getting out of a tight pressure string, and that’s what Ky’s game is mostly composed of. So if you can bait a run-in after the butterfly, try grabbing and then sending out a charged Stun Edge. It’s fairly simple to start up Ky’s game.
yep!but it’s his only good point(not a lot of priority and doesn’t do a lot of damages…sigh
Ky is capable of good damage from a blocked okizeme string to a mixed-in standing dust to a dust combo…damage is pretty nice from that. But I see what your saying, his options are somewhat limited.
Thanks. I think I’ll stay away from Ky for now. I’m going to try more May for the next few weeks.
