GGXX:Accent Core Thread! [AMERICAN PS2 RELEASE, GO GO GO!]

Pote is simple to pick up but you’ve got a world of shit to deal with when you play as him. If he were stupidly easy to win with, you’d see a lot more Pote players and a lot more of him winning.

The main factor i think there isnt alot of pot in genreal is prob because he seems slow and boring to play to most. Not saying he is, but to alot of people thats what they see 1st when they see him… Also another strike against him is you have to play patience and defensively. No one likes to do that either.

I dont hear people hate on Jam to much:tup:

Jam is good, she has good speed, good priority and insane damage but she takes damage like a bitch wich i think is the reason that prevents her from being top tier.

“nigga ask about me”

naw but seriously yea, shes my main, slayer used to be impossible for me to beat but now it can go either way for me

you have to play the game ALOT, or else it just seems like EVERYONE is broken…

gg is my main game (or at least used to be until 2 months ago, when i started playing a lot more arcana).

it’s true accent core in general has way more bullshit then slash… perhaps more than original xx. a lot of people new to the game say “lol eddie and testament” but the general consensus among most gg players is that slayer and jam are pretty broken themselves. i was pointing this out simply because i saw a lot of people here complaining about pote while saying stuff like “slayer isn’t that hard to deal with.” slayer’s ability to deal ridiculous damage off random hits is absurd in this game; the fact that he has a brain-dead force break on top of that makes matter worse. the exact same goes for jam.

main problem with standards in ac (and why i like it a lot less compared to slash in the first place) is that the character needs broken shit in order to be dominant or consistently competitive. for example, anji is definitely much better off than he was in xx or #r but is considered a weak character just for the fact that he doesn’t have any overpowering properties that he can consistently abuse.

HS fusion is pretty abuseable. It can be punished but like VV its a guess.
Ky has nothing abuseable. Stun edge used wrong will get punished for a lot of damage (esp against Jam), Stun dipper cant be used in the corner like it could in slash, green saver sucks, and he doesnt get good damage. The only reason I think that he can compete with some characters is because he builds high tension and can still have a slight chance against Top teirs. Nothing abusable though.

oh yeah, and VT wiffs against a lot of moves

Slayer and Jam are strong, indeed. But they are not easy to learn, specially slayer. There are a lot of characters that can eat your life in no time (ABA, May, O-Sol, Baiken) even the lowest tier in this game (Bridget) can kick your ass if the player is good (props to Jais from dustloop.)

And Anji was better in Slash, now he is not that good, but he still has some awesome things and a good Anji player is always scary due to Anjis good mix-up game and great damaging combos. The only bad thing about AC anji, is that he needs tension in order to do…well almost anything, but again, a skilled player can deal with this.

I dont know what they did to ggxx ac but Its the only gg I like…

slayer hella isnt as hard as people say. i picked up the game in 3 weeks and was hanging with jamie austin my first time playing against people.

I just got this game earlier this week, as a late x-mas gift. Damn, it rocks. It’s the first GG I played since GGX, and supposedly there’s good players I can hook up with around here.

I still like May the best, and I’m happy with how she’s improved over the years.

I’ve just been playing the AI right now in Arcade and Survival. Playing and watching ST-Blanka has helped my May game a bit. I know it sounds odd, but they are very similar characters, play-wise. They both have a df-slide, you can substitute Blanka’s hop, with May’s run (you can charge df while running, for a surprise dolphin, like Blanka’s surprise d/u ball after hop). I like May’s rush-down game. She has so many options. Run-up+slide, combo-to-Dolphin, dolphin surprise, command throw etc.

Can’t wait to play the game more competitively.

You guys are funny. More people should play Zappa. That way all logic is thrown out the window and you won’t have to worry about it.

Agreed.

Zappa is my have fun character, but sometimes the matches end to quick.

@TheDarkPhoenix

Pot has the highest defense in the game and can afford to take a few risks. Playing defensively has its percs and benefits some chars in this game. That’s how I see it right now since Slayer fishes for DoT and BBU setups and Pot fishes for Pot buster among other things.

But yeah, I guess I’m not the authority on this since I just recently started playing this game seriously.

Ky is super safe if you play him right, though. Space shit right and he’s extremely hard to punish; he’s definitely not top tier, but as far as good, safe pressure goes he’s by far the best.

Ky is just a good all-around character. He can do anything, pretty much. Pressure, mixup, wakeup, zoning, poking, runaway, everything. He just doesn’t hurt much at all unless you get a clean opening or the other guy fucks up big time. He is straight mid-tier.

This guy is right. A lot of the “Slayer is hard” stuff comes from when AC first came out and people were still figuring out how to maximize damage in all the different situations.

I don’t really think he’s easy though, but I don’t think any of the characters are except for May. Testament and Ky are easier to learn, but not really easier to be legit good with.

Ino and venom seem really hard to learn…

I-no is execution heavy. Plus you have to MASTER her FRC’s and the CL FRC IAD or your I-no will ALWAYS SUCK. You have to bust your ass to be good with her.

well i agree jam is stupid with her forcebreaks and she can dizzy you so easily, slayer is stupid as well, but they arent impossible to beat and you DO see them lose often, you just have to be alot more careful when facing them, ive just faced so many slayers i know what to do, i definately understand where your coming from but to me GG is as balanced as a fighting game will get, even though its definitely not perfect, just my opinion

Tension is not something Anji worries about lol.
