GGX anyone ?

Well, I didn’t come up with this list. The first time I saw it, I was confused as hell. Some guy said it was a confirmed list from Japan. I forgot What the arcade was called. But it was real.

Like you said, BoF should know.

It’s because the damage that characts do is far greater than most games. Sol Badguy can hit Jam for the damage of one of her decent combos. Chip needs about four combos on Jam to equal one of hers. It takes too much ‘not-screwing-up’.

The Gamest list was something like
Millia
Johnny
Dizzy
Sol (tie)
Jam (tie)
Chipp
Venom
May
Zato/Eddie
Faust
Baiken (tie?)
Anji (tie?)
Ky
Axl Low
Testament
Potemkin

Yeah, Potemkin is that bad :frowning: If you play the game like it’s street fighter, he’s not too shabby. But if you play the game like it’s supposed to, forget about it. Almost everyone’s too damn fast to catch. There’s a few fights he can win, but against about 2/3 of the cast, you should get beat soundly.

Haha, Gold characters like Sol, Justice, Johnny and Dizzy are top tier. j/k.

Actually, I think Dizzy deserves that high spot in the tier rankings. And that’s not out of my personal bias. =p She has really good damage, great speed, plenty of different tactics, and almost dominant air supremacy. =) And then there’s FDC. IMO, if there’s any character that FDC helps out the most with, it’s got to be Dizzy. Of course, a good Dizzy player will know never to rush in when facing characters like Sol or Potemkin who have good close-range battle and attack power. The lack of good wake up game means she’s bait for people like Millia, though. ;_;

I think there are several different methods/variations of the Mist trap. Connecting the coin shouldn’t be that hard at all, really. It’s can be canceled out from anything. Probably the best would be from a throw. Well, that’s how I usually connect my first coin. Unless it’s a counterhit. And I think after you score a knockdown, you stand over their body, do the mist and then the c.HS. Since the c.HS has such a long attack animation, you should time it so that the person is automatically blocking the attack as they’re getting up. By then the mist should’ve already reached the opponent, and that’s when you do perform the lvl 2 Mist Finer. OTG coin afterwards, and repeat.

www.gamecombos.com is a good site for GGX there forums are the best. You should read the link on ther first page of the site also. www.fighter.net has some good vids also

Heh, I go to GCC, in fact I used to be one of the regular GGX strategists until I migrated to Tagmonkey. :stuck_out_tongue:

About the tier list, nooooooo way is May higher than Faust. I figured it looked somethin’ like this :

HIGH
Millia
Johnny
Sol
Venom
Faust

HI-MID
Jam
Dizzy
May
Anji
Chipp

LOW-MID
Baiken
Zato
Ky

LOW
Axl
Potemkin
Testament

Or at least I THINK Axl’s the best of the low-tier characters. I seem to play Axl fairly well against high-tier characters like Sol or Johnny.

The platunmizer speaks the truth!:stuck_out_tongue:

I seem to recall a different scale from Arcadia. Hm…

official arcadia magazine ranking

Here’s the Official Arcadia magazine ranking. This is very acurate since it’s based off gamers over in Japan

  1. Millia Rage
  2. Johnny (the mist trap)
  3. Dizzy
    4/5. Sol and Jam (tie)
  4. Chipp
  5. Venom
    8.May
    9.Zato
  6. Faust
    11/12. Baiken/Anji (tie)
  7. Ky
  8. Axl
  9. Testament
  10. Potemkin

Remeber this is an overall ranking. Just because Potemkin is last don’t mean he sucks against everyone

Air-dash? Potemkin doesn’t have an air-dash does he?

Yeah, unless you can do her infinite, Jam needs her powerups. You can powerup for free after a sweep. As for the flying kick, stick to using it only in combos. It does a lot of damage, especially powered up, in which case you can powerup again, or if in the corner, RC and do an air combo.

Of course if you can do her infinite, powerups aren’t as important, as you can do over 50% and possibly dizzy (depending on the character) just by landing a c.K. Still, if you mess up and get a sweep, then you might as well powerup.

official arcadia magazine ranking

Yeah it was called Arcadia. My list wasn’t that off.

I’m surprised Jam tied Sol. Is her infinite that good??? May is better than Zato???

Yes, her infinite is that good.

I think Masa was referring to the original Guilty Gear when he said Potemkin had an airdash. I wish that were true for this game. :frowning:

What happened to make Zato so low? I recall tragic and others ranking him highly not too long ago…I sure don’t see how he’s any worse than May, at least.

And I have a request - Does anyone here have those Japanese videos of Venom ball setups? I want those BAD.

Josh the FunkDOC

Gold Potemkin has an airdash/dash. His regular walking speed is slower than normal though.

I dont care what rankings say…Sol is the biggest pimp there is.

WTF are gold characters?

Gold Characters are the “boss” characters you fight each time you earn 10 levels in Survival mode. Most of them have special attributes like strength up, defense up, speed up, tension build up, infinite tension, and so on…

Here’s a list of the different specials each character gets.

Sol:
Infinite Tension
Speed up
Defense up
Power up
ALWAYS in DI mode
Gradual healing

Ky:
Small fireball does 3 hits
Big fireball keeps hitting until it reaches the opposite side of the screen
Speed up
Tension build up

Baiken:
Attack up
Speed up
Tension build faster

Zato:
Infinite Eddy gauge
Faster movement

Millia:
Faster movement
Faster tension build

Chipp:
Faster movement

Johnny:
WAY faster dash movement (3 frames=full screen teleporation)
Mist finer does critical-fatal damage and dizzies
Faster tension build

Dizzy:
Faster movement
Attack up
Defense up
Ice beasts stay on screen until it, or Dizzy is hit
Faster tension build
Sycthe keeps hitting until it reaches top of it’s range, and has zero delay time

Justice:
Faster movement
Defense up
Attack up
Faster tension build

Jam:
Attack up
Kicks always charged

Faust:
Infinite tension
Item throw always meteors
Faster movement

Venom:
Horizantal ball charges faster
Faster movement
Faster tension build
Balls from air overdrive does 3 hits each

May:
Speed up
Fires 6 dolphins at a time

Kliff:
Slower movement
Infinite tension
Attack up

Potemkin:
Slower movement
Can dash
Attack up
Defense up

Testament:
Poison counter automatically targets you to Zio
Sycthe special (the one where he leaps at you) also targets Zio and poisons
Zio keeps attack continually, without you doing anything.
Faster movement
Faster tension build

Anji:
Attack up
Faster tension build

Axl:
Faster movement backwards

I think that’s it. There’s probably more, though. You can use them in any mode except Survival mode.

…Phew that felt good.!

I think the reason Jam’s infinite is so damn good is because if you get hit by it and the Jam player doesn’t mess up, then you’re locked down for the rest of the match. Sucks to be you.

I see that the Arcadia rankings have already made an appearance. I generally agree with them, aside from Zato’s placement (I don’t think he’s anywhere near the point where they place him, he’s pretty strong). Dizzy is up there just because she has Potemkin-style damage potential (10 hit combo that does 50% damage? Huh?), and more mobility than nearly any other character (double air dash and triple air jump). Add in her overall versatility (whoo, projectiles), and you have one beast of a character. You have to be able to at least use FDC in order to play her really well, but once you’ve got that down, she becomes insane.

Anyway, I’ve been playing Sol, Millia, Zato, Chipp, Baiken, Johnny, and Dizzy lately. Baiken is my scrub-killing character of choice. Sol is my best “business” character, he’s just amazingly powerful, albeit linear.

bump

Talk about GGX, damnit! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ouch!

So uh…

Anyone else agree that Dizzy is the awesomest (is that even a word?) character in GGX?? =)

Seriously though. I need help doing a Jump Install combo. I have NO idea how to do so. Any help would be nice, BoF. =) Jump installs for: Millia, Johnny, and Dizzy. And if you like, Sol.

And FCD combos are damn hard. I can’t do them at all. Dammit! My Dizzy is not good enough!
