GGX and GGXX everything

Your layout is correct. I used to play with the default dreamcast layout. Square 2X2 layout until I found out about the true arcade layout. When I switched the HS from the bottom right button and moved it beside the S button, it messed with my head for days. I was screwing up combos left and right. It’s really hard to adjust to a new layout after you are used to another one. I have the P and K buttons reversed right now. I don’t want to have to torture myself for another week relearning subliminal button combos.

It’s definately a good idea to get started on the right foot (or should I say button layout) Also, the way the button are in the arcade, makes FCD alot easier than the dreamcast default.

Potemkin

You can’t flip out of the double RC, triple air grab combo.
You can flip out of the RC into the super air throw one.

GGXX info

Just in case anyone else was wondering about details on GGXX. Here are a few I’ve noticed.

The button layout is:

__O___K S HS
______P _ D

The D button is now the Dust attack button. I guess this will spare you from hitting 2 buttons at the same time to do sweeps and dusts.

Note: You now have an extra attack in the air now with the dust button as well as an Air throw.

If anyone is interested in what a characters new dust air move or air throw looks like. LMK and I’ll describe it the best I can from the book I have.

There is also a BURST gauage now in which you can burst or break out of a chain (gatling) combo. The gauge only builds up when you take damage. And FCD’s do not exist anymore.

There is a new Blue RC technique now. You can RC out of certain regular moves now, even if they don’t connect. They use up 1/4 of your tension gauge. One example I’ve heard about is that Dizzy can Blue RC 4 ice stalagtites in a row.

Also, all the new backgrounds are at night-time now. They look incredible. Each new character has a new background as well.

If anyone is interested what a new characters death move looks like or what the new backgrounds look like, etc. PLMK and I’ll try to provide as much info as I can.

Yeah I just got my mas in a few days ago and started practicing with it. And then I realized that in the Sammy Cup vids the button layout looked different then what I was used to. So I switched it around, and couldn’t do any thing except hit the Slash button when I needed to (which doesn’t change with the layout).

Pardon my ignorance (yet again) but what would a ‘dust’ attack be?

Also, would you mind telling me of Bridget’s instant death move, and possibly some combos with May that I can work with?

A Dust Attack are the launchers in this game. They are very slow to come out and are uncomboable except from a counter hit, but you launch your opponent VERY high, allowing for very long combos depending on your character. Some characters have mini-launchers, but not all of them can be Jump Cancelled (just pressing up to follow your opponent like the VS games). So, a Dust Attack is the equivalent to the big launchers in PJ. They’re kinda useless except during a dizzy, whiffed move, or counter hit, so don’t just throw them out, instead rely on simple Gatling combos until you find an opening.

Oh.

I knew of such a thing, but just not the title given to it. So now that entire ‘launch’ activation is done with one button, eh? Cool.

bridget’s IK is as follows
he hits then with the yoyo, says “shoota da moon!”, and victim ends up head first in the moon’s surface

You’re kidding!

I love it. I can’t wait!

Ky Kiske Combos

Hey anybody have some mean-ass combos for Ky? Serious man I like this character, but I can’t combo with him for shit.

Lmao…

… ~thinks of Street Fighter EX3~…

Oh, God!

All I know about GGXX is the soundtrack pwnz. >:D

Ky Kiske Combos

If you’re looking for “mean-ass combos”, you might wanna try someone else, namely Millia Rage. Anyway, I can give you some tips with Ky since I’ve been using him alot lately, but I really can’t give ya many true combos since I’m still finding them myself.

Here’s a pretty decent air combo that can be hit ALOT:

QCB+K (launcher)-> Jump -> P -> S -> Up+Forward -> P -> S -> DP+S/HS -> F+HS (OTG)

You won’t believe how many times you can hit this off in one match. QCB+K move is pretty tricky for your opponent because it’s a downstrike. Mix this up with the QCF+K in some gattling combos quite often to really give them a hard time.

Also, take note, that Ky’s super is pretty easy to combo into.
Here’s a simple one that can be hit pretty often:

c.HS -> HCB,F +HS

Simple enough, eh? 40% health gone right there.

Which char ‘won’ the original GGX?

Also…who’s the new boss?

it wasn’t a tournament, but really, here’s how it went

  1. ky beats testament, gets to dizzy
  2. ky decides to protect dizzy because she’s a good gear
  3. ky fights sol, and he gets by ky
  4. sol gets to diz and spares her because she’s a good gear
  5. johnny n may make it to diz and somehow, she joins their pirate crew

in the end, johnny wins because he got another hot girl on his crew

also, EX-Ino is the boss of GGXX

Who won GG?

some combo of sol/ky killed justice

but most of the cast witnessed it

Ky Kiske Combos

I don’t play Ky much, but here’s a few combos I did when I did use him. I’ll skip the dust combos since they are mentioned above in this thread.

Easy ground combos.
NOTE: You can put the 3 hit fireball in front of any of these combos and dash in behind it. Easily blocked if the fireball proceeds the combo since your opponent will always block the fireball.

Dash in with (st. or d.) P -> (st. or d) K -> st. S -> st. HS -> QCF+k to do the ground hit sweep move -> then hit them on the ground.
I usually hit them with a st.HS but I’m sure there is something better.

Dash in with d.P -> d.K -> d.S -> d.HS(2 hits) -> either a fireball or Super. You can RC the Super into a combo. Not sure what since I haven’t played him much.

You can also skip the d.punch if you perfer. The kick will hit low so it is probably better to just skip the pucnh and do a low kick to start the chain combos.

Here’s a tougher combo to do after a throw.
Throw your opponent -> RC -> towards+P -> S -> jump S -> jump cancel into another S -> HS -> Dragon punch +HS.

I’ve seen a reral big combo where he does a gatling (chain) combo and ends it with the slide special and then RC’s the slide into 4-5 more hits. I’ll see if I can find that one for you too.

Support GGXX tourneys, heh.
If you know anyone from so cal who plays the game, tell em to post here. We need as many people for the tourney as possible.

Re: Ky Kiske Combos

I’ve tried her before. I have gotten off a few combos with her, but not them mean-ass ones that the Japanese players do. I wish I can play like them (rushdown and so on), but it’s difficult because I have no one to play with so I suck in this game and I’m still new to this game.

Thanks Shoosh! & Charlie-God for some Ky-Kiske combos.

Heres some GGXX Ky combos…

dp+s(counter hit) standing s, jump s, jump s,hs, dp+hs

F+hs, run foward, ducking lk, standing s, hs, qcfX2+p, run in ducking lk, standing s, f+p, s, hs, qcf+k, RC, standing hs, qcb+k, standing p, s, jump k, s, jump s, hs , dp+hs(hopefully i posted this one right. =p mighta been a ducking s in there dun remember)

F+hs, standing s, hs, qcf+k, RC, standing hs, qcb+k, standing p, s, jump k, s, jump s, hs, hcb, f+hs .(after this you may be able to get a standing k, s, hs when they are on the ground.

I dunno Ky is alot like his old self in combos with a few new things added in . and you have to do alot more little attacks in his stuff or else you can tech now.

The qcfX2+p adds alot of cool shit with combos blocked strings ect so you can add that to your combos now for bigger type shit. Think of it as a SSF2T ryu shinkuu hadoken.
