Cue the Guile theme for that Kurokiba comeback! But two really tough matchups for Dee Jay. Fei just…ugh. >.<
The frustrating thing is that it really doesn’t say anything about the matchup at all. The entirety of the comeback came off two absolutely god-awful mistakes by CJTruth: first the bad burnkick which let DJ land a fairly obvious crossup into big combo, and second, he inexplicably walked into a maxout while DJ was jumping in on him, allowing him to land 130 points of jumping roundhouse smackdown on top of the fireball and the cr. MK afterwards.
When Fei was playing solid and doing what he was supposed to be doing, it didn’t look like Dee Jay had a chance. I want to see more of Dee Jay actually challenging Fei rather than waiting for bad reads.
Challenging how? DeeJay gets disrespected in all aspects of the matchup. It’s F’n crazy how awesome you have to play just to stop a fei from pressing buttons…Rekka here, chicken wing there, poke here, command grab there…I’ve gotten to the point that I started fishing for pokes to focus into Ultra…desperate as hell.

Good seeing the Dee Jay vs. Fei Long matchup up close. The kurokiba vs. short match is what interested me most. The first two rounds are examples of how NOT to play Fei Long, especially the first one. Basically Kurokiba is staying exactly where Fei Long wants him to be, at the tip of Fei’s cr. mp, where lp rekkas are safe and too fast to react to, where slide is unsafe because of Fei’s awesome focus attack, and where chicken wing can anti-air most of what Dee Jay does up close, like knee shots. It’s no surprise that you can see Kurokiba running out of answers at the end of round 1.
Round 3 was interesting though, because here Kurokiba shows some signs of actually adapting to the matchup. Short makes a couple of awful decisions, like the decision to chicken wing on a downbacking Dee Jay (= EX upkicks), the decision to do all three rekkas on a blocking Dee Jay with charge (= EX MGU > EX Sobat), or the decision to chicken wing straight over Dee Jay’s head TWICE (=cr. mk, twice). All these are really, really poor mistakes, but all credit to kurokiba, he starts using slide to predict rekkas, as opposed to trying to pressure Fei with them. He focuses a rekka, which was nice. He generally stays out of Fei’s pocket and plays more mobile. I think that’s the best approach to Fei.
I’d also like to see more neutral jumps. It’s a common tactic to deal with Fei’s Rekkas, and I’d like to see how viable it is with Dee Jay.
you shoulda seen my face when i got hit by that ultra! omg. before this ft5 i had no prior knowledge of the dee jay vs dud match up so this set was a real learning experience for me. i’m glad he gave me the chance to play. it was fun.

Sweet match.
I think the fei match is worse than Yun…I just got finish playin this pretty good guy name Bossu-somethin…His Yun was probably the best I’ve played…even still, I feel like Fei is worse.
I was one of the lame Dee Jay’s at this weekend’s Devastation:

I used to play Abel, so I know what he can do, and I wasn’t too worried about this guy’s Abel. Despite this, I was a little nervous and was dropping things and doing stupid stuff. I eventually went 3-2, so whatever. After connecting with Dash U2 on stream, I think I’ve reached the pinnacle of my Dee Jay haha.
