Tough matchup Knut, but great job getting to Grand Finals! Bison and Vega… if I could somehow remove those players from the ssf4 roster I’m sure we can make DJ top tier some day Keep representin’ \o\
Nah, I don’t get faked out by jabs anymore. What I’ve recently trained myself to do against Deejay is to react to the rotation of his body. While yeah, two of my ultras were off of anticipation since people tend to throw a fireball after an ex and whatnot. But the one I did on around 4:40 was from reaction, and also when I tried to ultra (but got teleport) his sobat around 5:55 was from reaction. The only normal Deejay can psyche me out with is far fierce, but my ultra would still punish that and occasionally far strong screws me over.
And most of my bad ultras against you were from me playing threi a lot and attaching his fireball patterns to your playstyle.
Far fierce was the shit in ST. Now its shit in IV. It does have the same animation, but recovery is ass. something like 23 frames so if you react even after the active frames you’re still going to land ultra. glad that move is a charge move in AE. A little something to help deejay.
I can’t wait for AE because Bison gets away with to much BS. I really hope that cr.mp and far.mk is a reliable poke. And how do you dash back U2? That might be reliable against EX head stomps.
This is some matches from an online tourney about a week ago. And ATL to Cali connection aint the greatest lol so you will see alot of reckless shit

back dash U2 is the same as forward dash U2 in terms of technique if you use the instant spd motion to finish your dash U2.
I can’t watch the second video. It kills me to see a deejay not play to the best of their ability. I’m sure its just because its online because you looked really strong against DBJ.

Good shit. That’s pretty much how I play it. Don’t forget that you can sometimes punish the yoga sniper with an Ex Sobait.
And ummmmm Walk Ultras are out of style lol
My first time using Dee-Jay, against a B+ Akuma. I’m using Dee-Jay strictly based off of copying what I’ve seen other people do with him.

I’ve been trying to do the MGU > Walk U2 on the 360 d-pad, its been hard so far. Haven’t done it once.
lol i know, but when the game is on the line and online (see what i did there?) do what works. my dash is weaker on that side as well. I wanted to try to punish the sniper, but i wasn’t sure what ranges that worked at.

idk how the end got cut off but this is the final video. the old like is only to keep track of views.
Would appreciate some input on that match. What I did good, bad, and so forth. Again, keep in mind its my first time playing Dee-Jay beyond completing his trials.
you have a lot to learn. i posted a comment on the video.
You have to take control of the match.
- do not throw full screen ex fireballs. It’s a waist of meter
- when you have meter you should punish your opponents fireballs.
- you can’t let people jump in for free. learn when to upkick and when to block
- work on knee shot mix ups
- learn to slide under and knee shot over fireballs
- If you are serious about learning DJ, go to the training room. learn your BNB’s and how to use U2
DeeJay is a jack of all trades so there is different ways to play that matchup
Got some questions based off of the feedback:
- Any reliable AA’s he can do when he has no charge?
- What’s a good way to advance forward while maintaining charge? In HDR he had the slide.
- Does he have safe-jumps?
I know some of his BnB’s such as cr.jab(2)>cr.mp>dread kicks. However, I’m having huge issues getting EXMGU>U2 to come out on the 360 dpad. Eh.
NEVERMIND, found my own answers except for #3. I am going to assume that his safe-jumps revolve around the knee-shot, right?
easiest way to safe jump I know is jumping IMMEDIATELY after a full non EX MGU.

Akimo’s AE Deejay
some of my mathes from russian tournament
its grandfinal 3 vs 3
im playing first
VS CODY -
VS ABEL
VS BLANKA
not so good, but i’m trying:rofl:
not bad. you have to stay solid and not do random things.
Less Ultra 1 lol unless you know your opponent throws bad fireballs.
don’t use ex dreads after ex mgu in the corner. go for the meterless options, especially when there is a round left to play. even use U1 after ex mgu for a little more damage than ex dread if irc
against blanka since he whiffed slide you could have ultra 1’d him, but you crouched which widened your hitbox and made the slide safe.
be more patient against blanka.
thanks J,
patient not for me
im 3s player, very agressive style, thats why i dont like sf4 incarnation
and blanka most annoying matchup for me (btw this blanka winner of single tournament)
and i still thinkin dj really lowtier character that makes me sad,mad etc
He is a low tier character in SSFIV. But remember, so is Dan, Hakan, Makoto, T.Hawk ect. You can do well and win with low tier character, you just need to work more for your win
