You have to plink it?! So what if your an old man like me and you just hit, on time, the buttons/links one at a time. it’s just cl.HP into throw?
yea but the only way to kara is to plink even if you do it really fast it will only come out if you plink it because you’re canceling the first startup frames of the grab.

Dunno if everyone’s already seen this, but I just came across it now… darksydephil playing dee jay vs a decent dudley. Obviously dee jay isn’t very good in dsp’s hands, and quite typically he blames his faults on the character. It’s sad to see so many people consign DJ to the “not very good” box on the strength of the fact that his ultra happens to be hella hard to combo into. Thoughts?

i know the kara throw is basically useless but i just thought i’d share it w/ the world. it works of cl. fierce so its hard to do.

Nice compilation. Hatrify has a different style to Takehiko/Akimo - more pokes, more use of s.hk and FADC out of sobats. Walk Ultra seems more reliable, but obviously has limitations vs parts of the cast I learnt loads though to try with my fledgling Dee Jay so thanks for posting. Other thing was his use of knee shot and s.lp - very solid.

Tbh, though, I thought the videos were fairly boring. Hatrify’s a really good DJ, that much is obvious, and I’m really impressed he seems to be able to do midscreen walk U2 at will, but the problem was that all the people he fought were really mediocre. Some clearly weren’t up to snuff at all (the sakura player), but most just made tons of mistakes.
Case in point, check out the Balrog in the fifth video of the series. I was actually really looking forward to seeing how Hatrify dealt with Balrog, as we all know that’s one of DJ’s toughest matchups. But I only got to see how a good player punishes a silly player for not blocking or for doing stupid jump-ins. There were genuinely at least three occasions the Balrog player could have done the classic clp-clp-cmp-headbutt-ultra, and he just didn’t. As I understand it, that’s one of Balrog’s more basic BnBs.
So while it’s a nice display of well-executed DJ links and combos, I still prefer Takehiko videos, even one where he gets his ass handed to him by an absolutely steroid Gouken

i’m having a street fighter session next wednesday. i had 4 hours of casuals deleted by mistake. i will have good footage for you guys by thursday.
As for hatrify. i think most of his opponents don’t know how to fight deejay. They do really dumb things like jump in on wake up and put themselves in the corner so he can land ex mgu ultra. I tried to explain that his opponents don’t know how to fight deejay and he accused me of doing the same thing. My fights against ken and cammy were good and they knew what to stay away from for the most part. The rest of my vids are trash lol
Not even going to lie tho. i stole knee shot standing jab from hatrify because crouching jab does less damage and is awkward for me to time.
As for takehiko, after watching that gouken match i don’t really like him anymore. He played really badly. I understand if you never played against an excellent gouken but you should know your opponent’s moveset to some degree.

I never thought i would see the day that someone off my list would post random vids of them beating me when I just started playing this series. I always looked at people that posted vids without the other person knowing to be a scrubby thing. Yea I got the balrog links down now MuayGio.
This. That was over a month ago when I clearly didn’t know the match up because dee Jay is rare. I’d love to have a first to 5 posted against him or anyone who wants to call me mediocre based on some casual online matches. I find it hilarious how people only upload the matches they win in hopes of improving their rep.
It was a tough fight, and the Gouken seemed one step ahead. Can’t say anything too foul about it, everyone loses.
