Getting away from Magneto at start

I am getting owned by magneto as soon as the fight starts. I try to jump back but that doesn’t always work (I think 50% of the time?) so i get hit with c.lk and get my ass comboed.

If i block low there’s a 50% I can avoid getting hit and the other 50% mag does a quick trijump (same side) or jump and quick dash over me and i get hit with assist for blocking the wrong way. So there’s 3 different things I have to figure out in like 5 frames of animation. Anyone know how I can get away without losing 3/4 of my life?

Also, any tips for mashing out of tempest, timing of techhits, and timing of rolls?

Jump straight up. Jumping up-back can be caught by a c.lk. Just jump straight up and call an assist, works most of the time.

Only if you’re using sentinel… and even then, he can switch glitch you right back and dash forward and tag you.

And if he’s talking about a non sentinel character it’s riskier. Few characters have a dash quick enough to evade a switched c.lk, and I’m not sure if it’s the case. Only sentinel can do that effectively because his super armor saves him.

If the guy didn’t switch magneto to his 1st char slot… just jump straight up. Obviously you can get guardbroken at the very start if you do, but it’s hard for someone to react like that once they’ve commited themselves to another opener, i.e. jump up, call assist, dash over.

Btw, when you jump up and block, block DOWN back, not simply back. Because if a magneto opens up with a s.lp + assist, c.lk , you’ll be sent to the ground blocking high, and you’ll get caught.

don’t even run away take em on. i usually start with a c.lk lk assist and it either works on them or my opponent and i attack each other at the same time.

You’re taking a big risk if you try to attack Magneto. If he glitches his c.lk then what are you going to do? Attack him?

If you’re using Cable, you WANT to block and get the fuck away from him. Sentinel’s normals are too slow as well. Only storm and another Mag can try to beat mag [out of the top 4]

Unless you’re using Magneto himself and want to get the jump on the other Mag, you want to block. Is it work risking getting snapped out to your assist and having your team destroyed from the ground up?

What is the switch glitch?

The glitch is an instantaneous action that occurs at the beginning of the round.

You know, you can always peek at your opponents hands…

To mash out of tempest, it mostly relies on the stick, not the buttons. But the easiest way is to wiggle the stick left-right-left while mashing on the buttons in the opposite, right-left-right and vice versa.

Eh…tech hits and rolls…just spot when you’re going to land and either press forward or back + attack or fireball/hurricane motion + attack

I’m kind of confused are you talking about hitting your assist button to switch your characters during the team VS screen?

Ok… the glitch works like this. Say you play MSP [Magneto/Storm/Psylocke] but you want Magneto to have the glitch. So you pick the team like Storm/Magneto/Psylocke. Then at the versus screen [the one when you see the 6 characters faces looking at each other] you hold down the ASSIST button that would switch Magneto in. In the case of picking the team in Storm/Mag/Psy order, you hold down assist 1.

So now you see Magneto as your opening char i.e. he’s the one standing around when the announcer is still saing ‘Ready? Fight!’. Now, when you see that Magneto is your first char again, this is where the glitch comes in.

How does this glitch work? You hold down an attack, most people use crouching light kick with Magneto. You can hold down roundhouse or fierce punch, but the lk is the fastest.

So while you’re holding it down, when the fight starts, your attack comes out IMMEDIATELY, with no lag time at all. This glitch is used to get the jump on your opponent, and to punish openers that you normally could not punish.

Btw, you can’t use this glitch to do a special move, like a hypergrav or supers. It can only buffer a single button.

You’re almost exactly right there. But you’re wrong on the single button buffer part. You can do more than one button for stuff like dash-backs, tag-outs (hella risky, high reward), and even stuff like instant Lightning Attack if you’ve got the balls to do so. It doesn’t work for assists, I think, so don’t try buffering in assists.

So if I glitch my ironman can I beat out a non-glitched magneto with a c.lk? And if I win, does Ironman still have the glitch for the next round?

you can buffer ur assist in by holding it down then releasing it even after u switch glitch.

hold down psy in opener, tri-jump lk+release psy assist, land and snap, if they call assist, it’s likely to set-up the bounceybounce.

Normally, When i play vs. mag, i jump over their head and assist.
