I recently bought a Ps3 Mad Catz TE and it’s not working on my RetroPie setup I did a jstest and none of the buttons worked properly. It works fine on my PC just not RetroPie, do I need to change the encoder if so how or is it some other issue.
Early PS3 model TE sticks has a issue with PC compatibility, The Raspberry Pi is included in the issue with the Stick.
Anything other that older PC motherboards with Intel chipsets will not work as the old PS3 TEs used a Intel propitiatory USB Protocols.
There no driver fix, as the protocols were hardwired into the chips.
For your Rasp Pi, you need to replace the PCB in the stick.
How would I do that I opened it up and it looks like there are two PCBs the wires are going to. also what one should I get does the Zero input encoder work?
The ZD works, and it’s super easy to install. There are also other aftermarket boards with more features (more compatibility with other systems) if you want them, though they’re more expensive.
Both of my old Mayflash arcade sticks worked on Retropie, one had a '07 PCB and the other had a '09
ok, how do I wire the lock, turbo and mode buttons though?
You would need to solder to the original board, it would be a lot more complication for stuff that isn’t important. Especially if you have a keyboard handy. That said, it’s not tough if you have experience soldering electronics.
ok thx for the help.
