I would go with the japanese frame data if anything.
I would go with mental frame data. Remember the animations, visualize them in your head, then take a snap shot of each mental frame. Its much more reliable than something on the internet.
I played a bit of Garou, here’s my thoughts if anyone gives a shit: Nice animation, music, backgrounds, etc. Can’t complain about the presentation because it’s a beautiful looking game for the Neo Geo. I’m undecided with the JD system. On the one hand it’s super fucking easy, on the other hand… I don’t know, it just doesn’t feel right. What I don’t like are: The lack of two button command grabs. Trying to tick throw is really fucking difficult in this, moreso than in any of the KOFS. I literally did a jumping D on crouching opponent, he’s still blocking, I move towards him and hit C and I just punch, do it again trying to grab, and I just punch again and he punishes me. Empty jump in into grab is okay. I don’t like the fact that special moves have little priority, know what I mean? Except one special move per character (on average) has tons of priority like Terry’s SRK (I forget the name of it off hand) and he can break it for extra damage. Following that, A B C D all have weird priorities. What happens I’ve noticed is this: Match starts, guy on left does jumping A which beats 90% of what the guy on the right does, guy on right now does jumping D which now beats guy on left’s jumping A, so now guy on left does jumping C which beats that, and etc and etc. You gotta’ admit it’s a little retarded.
Last thing I hate are Terry, Jenet, and Kevin’s infinites. You can escape from Terry’s but Kevin and Jenet can bait you and reset their infinites. But I like the game, nothing can be perfect, I’m going to try to play this more once I learn that blond emo kid
thanks guys for the answers. Noc, I should have read the first page of the thread and found the links myself, my bad.
2 questions fromthose posts that are linked in post 2.
so his TOP move is good for wakeup? Why is that, it doesn’t look like a wakeup type move. Does it have invincibility?
And about his DP break. I can break his C version okay but his A version I can’t break for the life of me. I tried with assigning a button to A+B (only for testing wouldnt play like that) and i can break it like that because timing seems hella fast and that way i can drum the A and A+B button after eachother. But doing DP+A and then press the same A button and B seems waaay to fast to do for me. Am I missing something?
Its known to be hard dude there’s really no trick to it.
Practice time then
Indeed
I play a bit of Butt (no homo) tommorow I might be free in the evening. If I am I’ll logon to MSN or PM you on NE.com for some games.
You didn’t read the rest? I should have probably worded it better but it’s a good backdash punish. Also if lets say they have no life left you can try :r: + :snka: kara into his TOP attack :snkc: + :snkd: on wake up. If they don’t JD it then they are dead since it will chip them to death. Marco’s :dp: + :snka: break whiff has to be done real fast. I’m talking about roll cancel fast. Pretty much as soon as you do it you have to hit :snka: + :snkb:. When you hear Marco do the dp grunt sound is when you press it.
Nah I did read the post but I think I just misunderstood. you meant on the other guys wakeup? Yea that makes sense. im getting the hang of his break move now.
Yea on their wake up you would use it when they have no life left cause usually people never expect that move. Most of the time people do his fireball to chip to death which is also good but I find his TOP attack better for that.
Is comp still decent for this? I’m assuming best place to play is ggpo? Saw this on xbla and remembered the good times playing it.
There’s usually about 15 or so people in the Garou room on GGPO. I’m taking a break personally because my stick broke and fuck playing it on keyboard.
I’m looking to expand my matchup knowledge (terry and jenet are covered so if you see me online feel free to challenge me. GGPO handle is DigitalGypsy…I think…or MedicineHorse.
hmmmm is it the same on 360? cause for the life of me I cant get record to work on the 360 version like this.
so how’s the xbla version?
i currently have DC and ps2 garou but i don’t want xbla if there’s comp on ggpo.
It’s the exact same training mode. Only difference is select is the back button the 360 version.
360 version is the exact same as the PS2 version. Only difference is they fixed the Guard Cancel letters that were missing in the PS2 version. As for the online play itself it’s really bad. Better to just play on GGPO if you want to play online. If you already have the PS2 version that is good enough for it’s training mode.
edit: ugh when you press start the back button was assigned to sow the movelist. it needs to be assigned to command in the main practice mode menu and then it works.
I was thinking that if they were to go ahead and do a part 2 of this game or just rebalanced it with some new chars (not likely) who could they add. I was thinking:
-Duck King’s daughter (no one really fights like Duck King in MOTW and another female with his style would be pretty cool looking).
-Franco’s son “Junior” as a teenager (as a boxing styled fighter would be a nice additon).
-Krauser’s early 20’s nephew? (as a new antagonist would be welcome and Krauser has scores to settle)
-Blue Mary (could add her in and make it to where she finally gets with Terry and they have a child. Perhaps Krauser’s nephew is involved in their relationship, which forces Mary to come out of the wood work and fight again). Her style would be welcome.
Thoughts, or ideas?
T.O.P placement
I research that some characters have preferred T.O.P placements depending on character their using and play style. I find my self placing top depending on character match up. Since I use freeman I don’t know whats highly recommended for him so I simply improvising. But here’s my theory on freeman’s TOP placement.
*Front/Beginning: Top will be activated at start of match. Its recommend in aggressive play style and for players who desires benefits early on.
misc: Freeman may not be the most aggressive character but his versatile ability allows him to apply some decent pressure and unexpected guard break if enemy defense is lacking.
***Default/middle: Top will be activated once life its mid point: This is the default and probably the most well rounded position.
misc: Theirs a lot to be considered since I think TOP only activates on neutral status. So if caught in a combo before TOP can activated, theirs a chance you’ll by pass it and loss TOP. How ever It can give an edge when least expected, weather you rely on defensive property or offensive property.
**Back/End: Top will activated when life is near last shred of life. This position is popular for defensive style due to its benefits being needed for come back scenarios.
misc:Most of freeman big damage opportunity comes from being in top with super, also freeman’s counter super makes a good reversal scenario. I also find it as counter turtle tool.
My prefer TOP placement with freeman match ups.
vs Rock: Default position.
I think its best to be flexible in this match up since their a variety of disadvantage’s and advantages to be consider.
vs Dong:Beginning
Though Dong will be played in variety of styles, majority of Dong will abuse his aerial ability and that’s a problem for freeman in the long run. The Ideal way to handle this is to finish him off ASAP before Dong players builds meter.
Note: I personally found moderate success with Freeman’s TOP command in this match up. possible cross up counter with VODE.
vs Kushnood Butt: ANY, end recommended
Honestly this is one of the worst match up Ive been in and I cant figure whats good.
vs Hotaru: Middle, end recommended
I find my self relying on TOP as comeback tool in this match up since the match up usually turns into a turtle fest for me.
Note: TOP command is really useful against hotaru’s stomp game.
vs Hokamaru: ANY, Default recommended
Another match up where flexibility is a must.
vs Kevin: Beggining
This match up freeman needs the most help he can get.ASAP.
vs Freeman: Varies to player to player
Haven’t had many mirror matches. Since I’m more defensive I prefer to use my later but to each their own.
vs Tizoc: ANY, Beginning recommended
Not that I recommend TOP be use as aggressive but simply that freeman will lose top quite a lot in later positions.
vs Gato: ANY, Default recommended
I personally prefer variety in this match up but freeman can be highly versatile in this match up.
vs Jae Hoon: Any
Yet another match up that can experiment with TOP. Use it accordingly to the situation you prefer.
vs Terry: Any, End recommended
Though this match up can be versatile, I find one mistake against terry can be hard to recover. So I prefer top for come back scenario’s.
vs Grant: Any
This is another bad match up in freeman which he can do little to benefit top from.
vs Kain: Any
This match up is almost a turtle fest for me. I found some success in placing top where I think I will have health advantage.
Anyone got links to some good Rock matches?
