"Get Ready...Survive!" The New Garou: Mark of the Wolves Thread

I think they are uploading all the matches from the tournament also.

I am so extremely jealous of people that have other people to play this with :frowning:

blah, I have to fly half way across the country to get offline games in. GGPO is pretty much the greatest thing ever created…

Giby,

GGS today… your grant is a beast. I look forward to playing you again later on this week.

Some dude at Gamestop told me they have Garou on XBL now. I got home, didn’t find shit on the marketplace. I feel so trolled.

It has been on xbox live arcade since June of last year. The netcode is horrible though but it’s good for offline play and the practice mode.

Also about that Kain bug thing. It’s similar to how the Freeman clone bug works. Jae hits Kain as he is getting hit with the ball super. Even though Kain JDed the hit it causes him to turn blue. That happens because of the effect of when you JD, your character slightly turns blue for an instance. Since Jae got counter it causes the JD spark to not appear but it shows the blue color instance show instead cause the bug to happen.

2 quick questions. For Kain combos such as [:d:]:u::snkb: + :snka::snkb: > [:l:]:r::snkb:, would it help to hold down back and then do ub for the flashkick break? For some reason I’m having trouble doing it the “normal” way and was wondering if db and ub would help.

And would you say that Garou is a good game to learn fundementals in?

Charge moves in Garou take at least 1 second to hold the direction, so if you quickly hold Back when you Break, then press Fwd+B the move should combo.

Just checking this is how inputs work in Garou, and it’s not my setup or something. But playing on FBA on my computer, I frequently have a problem where if I use a normal, then do the motion for a special, it will cancel into a special using that normal, without me hitting another key. For example if I try to do B cancelled into qcb+A, I will get B cancelled into qcb+B, without having hit B a second time. Just checking that this is how the game works, and I need to time my inputs better to avoid it. Very annoying with Jenet trying to cancel jump C into D Harrier Bee, but ah well.

Are you trying to do stand :snkb: or :d: + :snkb: into :qcb: + :snka:? Standing it shouldn’t do that but when you do the :d: + :snkb: into :qcb: + :snka: it might. Thing is the game stores motions and if you use a normal you can cancel into special/super it’s possible for things like that to happen. The best way to test it out would be to do stand :snkb: (hold the button down) then at the same time do :qcb: along with it. It shouldn’t do anything. If you do it with the :d: + :snkb: version though it’s possible to hold the button and do the :qcb: motion and :qcb: + :snkb: will come out. It usually happens like that because you are probably doing it too fast. A good way to not have that happen is to use :snkb: + :snkd: together instead. That way you wont have any accidental specials/supers coming out when you don’t want them to come out. You’ll also store the motion doing it that way, so all you do next is press the button. It’s a good way to option select your hits and react in an easier fashion.

For example with Jenet you can do:

:qcb: + :snkb: + :snkd:, if it hits then just press :snka: right after to get her :qcb: + :snka: to come out. If it doens’t hit then just wait, etc.

You can also try it like this method which also works:

:d: + :snkb: + :snkd:, :qcb: + :snka:

So I take it that lights option select out hard attacks when both entered, and it won’t cancel into a move if you pressed both? Weird, but I should probably just work on my timing and not doing things too fast. I just get too amped up sometimes when fighting and do things way too fast.

When you press :snka:, :snkb: or :snkc: with the :snkd: button it allows you to store motions without having specials/supers coming out. The only time it will be a problem is if you are using :snkc: + :snkd: because you also have TOP mode to think about. The way to get around that is to press :snkb: + :snkc: + :snkd: to get stand :snkc: to come out while storing the motion in the process. It might seem confusing but it works. It’s really good for characters with longer range pokes like Freeman. It allows him to cancel his far stand :snka: into his punch super without having his :qcf: + :snka:/:snkc: coming out instead. Same method can be used for Rock so you can combo into his kick super without having his counter specials coming out.

In tokyo atm gonna try and find TRF for some Garou.

How long you staying for?

Im gonna be in tokyo till the 6th of May. Currently staying in shinjuku. Got lost like countless times lol. Gonna meet a friend then brave the trains next week. Play some dudes at Sega Shinjuku they werent that tough tbh. Dont have the internet at hotel only a local internet cafe.

yea I figured you didn’t have access to the net outside of net cafes. The train system is pretty simple to follow so you shouldn’t get too lost. Just make sure you get to them on time before they start shutting down trains to get back to your hotel. You still remember all the hot spots for comp? If you need help on finding a place just pm me and I’ll do what I can to help out.

I don’t know if it’s an old news, but seems like there will be a 2 days “SNK Festival” in SEGA Shinjuku on May 3rd and 4th 2010.

Thanks for the info Soh. Hopefully some videos come out of that event. If you can make it to that ATB take as many photos/videos as you can.

Hi kind of new player here, just kind of dicked around with the game but trying to learn now, I have a few questions:

Is there a way to keep people from doing whatever they want on my oki and keeping them scared of disrespecting?

I’m using Hotaru btw. What is a good normal for her as a meaty? I keep getting mashed out on wakeup D: Not reversals and stuff though, I’m pretty sure you have to guess those

Also what is a good anti air with Hotaru besides her DP? I’ve tried using her flash kick qcb but it seems the hit comes out late and I get hit out of it? Maybe I have to have it out sooner?

Thanks in advance

If you haven’t checkd the second post on this thread on the first page I did a mini write up for her. Most of the things covered should let you know some of the options you can do with her. She can do a lot of things meaty but it just depends on how well the opponent is during wake up situations. If they are good at JDing on wake up then you’ll have to mix up some command grabbing or normal throws in. If they are doing things during wake up like supers/specials than just wait to bait those out and punish afterwards. You can try her :d: + :snka: + :snkb: as an AA. Though I wouldn’t do it if they are close above you. Better using it from certain angles as they jump in on you. Next best thing is just JD into GC :dp: + :snkb:/:snkd: to stop them from doing jump ins. Do check the write up and if anything isn’t clear on it just let me know and I’ll try to break it down more far ya.
