"Get Ready...Survive!" The New Garou: Mark of the Wolves Thread

Two c.Bs, his break, jump C, jump D, crouch C, d+AB, close B… lots of options.

I remember a while ago Nocturnal posted a link of all the Japanese arcades that have Garou and what button layout they use. Can someone post that link again? Thanks

That was a long time ago but I know most the cabinets in Japan use the box layout for the majority of their SNK games now. There are some cabinets though that let you switch between the box layout and L layout.

So you can go from:

AC
BD

to

BCD
A

Using the switch on the cabinet. If you really need to know the main arcades to hit up it’s mainly Alpha Station, TRF and A-cho for the most part.

Thanks for the info, Noc, gonna try it out later =D

I think I’m sick… I can’t stop playing this game :frowning:

I still hate Marco’s dp cancel. I think it’s the hardest one

IDK, Gato’s qcb+K breaks are pretty hard.

Any good, versatile combos for Tizoc in this? As much as I love doing random 360 throws and missing it’d be nice to get decent at Garou.

Tizoc can combo into his D super from a s.A or c.A which is useful. He can also do his rdp+A off of the wall throw, and he can do his air throw after j.A or j.B in the air.

qcb+k is Gato’s fuuga, his break is dp+B/D.

Subscribed.
Bought this the other day just to practice my execution in a game I don’t usually play, looks like there’s quite a few folks still playing this actively.

Make sure to hit up GGPO or 2df (Supercade or whatever it’s called now) if you can. There are plenty of people playing on both of them.

I’ve been putting up some of the TRF vids, and since it’s snowing and slick now, I’ll try and put up a large batch of more videos up this weekend.

Haha, I’ve been doing the same the past couple of days. I have nothing else better to do. Where are you in the vids exactly? I’ve started with feb 4th onward. I haven’t upped any, waiting til I finish converting all of them.

I’ve gotten the rest of August and all of September so far. If I get through with them fast, I’ll probably go ahead and start on the ones from October too. We’ll see how that goes though. I just got a new stick and I wanna finish breaking it in. :bgrin:

How good have the newer matches been? I haven’t looked at any from this year yet.

yessir welcome to the club, get on GGPO for some competition/levelingup/humblingasswhoopings.

Cool I cant make it march (kicks himself hard) but Im planning to go in April and I’ll be in Tokyo for the whole duration. I’ll try and find the addresses for Alpha Station and TRF.

I know Alpha Station is in Shinjuku. Not sure about TRF. You can check on the arcade websites and look at the maps and directions they have posted. Then just use Google to translate the directions they have with the maps.

Edit:

You can also check out Gaming Plaza Softem as well for MOTW comp. I know Mhata and a few others play here.

I don’t know who dui is or why he doesn’t like me, but lol at this:

<armored> that guy is crazy good
<dui> not really
<armored> lol
<dui> your Kevin needs work
<dui> his Dong has repeat patterns also
<Raphaelo> Of course he had repeat patterns, he was toying.
<armored> cant really get the feint thing down
<dui> you don’t need to feint with Kevin
<dui> Either way Raph his Dong isn’t that great
<dui> I’ve played better

He’s a fruitcake for just waltzing in and making deductions after two minutes of watching me play a guy who just started three days ago. Amazing how some people can’t be constructive without trying to discredit someone’s ability in the process. He said all of this while I was off of GGPO, which is funny, I don’t know the guy and yet he’s slinging mud while I’m not present.

EDIT: I’m not sweatin’ it, just seems childish for a supposed “top level” American player to get his e-slangin’ on just moments after I log out.

So when did people care about what people say online lol? Anyways, anyone have any good strats against people who backdash and run away all day? Seems like a pain just trying to land hits on them. I’m asking because most of the people I’ve played on GGPO tend to run away a lot. I guess it’s the ultimate strategy people use online.

I haven’t come across too many people that rely on running (except a few Japanese players I’ve come across like S@KIORI or Baburusu Kun), but if your character has a super jump then you can constantly stay on them and no amount of backdashing will really get them in a safe spot. Otherwise, you can try fireball mind games to draw them out. There are a lot of things you can do for the latter, like whiffing normals intentionally, mixing up the speed of the fireball, walking forward or dashing before doing it so they have a higher chance of mistiming their JD, etc. Most people get antsy when you just toss fireballs at them so they’ll eventually come at you. Some people will sit there JDing, but those are the types you want to apply everything I mentioned against. Whenever people flee, I just build meter and when they realize what I’m doing they want to attack me, so that in itself can be effective.

There’s really no set way to deal with “track and fielders”, but if you’re an aggressive player it makes it hard for them to get away. Also, you can exploit the vulnerabilities of their backdashes allowing you to hit them in the recovery frames.

milk quit being a bitch you know your good don’t let some hater get you down

I don’t use a fireball character. I use Jae and he doesn’t have a super jump. The person I was playing was a Japanese Grant player (forgot his name), who tends to run away with Grant for some reason. Like he just does his dp and dive kick to run away from you. If you get close he will just backdash away from you, etc. It’s a pain to deal with whenever I’m using Jae on him. He also builds meter and waits for you to jump at him so you can do Grant’s punch super. I can JD cause I know it’s coming but it’s still a pain to deal with his running. So Milk you play on GGPO a lot? I haven’t seen you online unless you use a different name. I haven’t really played any Dong’s online. Everyone seems to like using Terry/Rock/Marco for the most part. Is that dui guy suppose to be good also? I want to play good players so if anyone can direct me to who I should be playing please let me know.
