"Get Ready...Survive!" The New Garou: Mark of the Wolves Thread

I’m trying to get into Kain and I saw this:

How is that Kain player able to (I forget the exact expression) break his Schwarze Lanze? I realize that taken out of context, that it sounds funny. But regardless, how is that move done?

You press :snka: + :snkb: as soon as it hits or comes out. I listed what moves you can break with everyone in the game on the very first post on this thread also . Most of everything else character related that was already mentioned should be all on the second post as well.

Sorry dude, I did a search for Kain, and I didn’t see it. It’s a 32 page thread, some things can be easy to miss.

I have it so if any new info is posted I add it to the second post character specific. The first post is all the generel game system and techniques for doing certain advanced things. It just makes it easier so if people ask the same question I usually just point them to that direction or answer it again if it’s a quick answer.

Dude I need to get some convertors for Garou cos I cant play on that old skool layout for shit lol

Uploaded a couple of matches that I found while cleaning out my computer that I forgot to put up. I posted the videos here:

Enjoy.

Old school layout, is that the L shaped layout or A to D in a straight line ?

Noc what possible combos can Kain do after his throw?
Also is Kain supposed to be pronounced ‘the German way’?

I would say the L layout is more old school like how they are on these pictures:

at least on the red neogeo cabs in the US the :snka: would be spaced out that far. On the orignal neogeo AES sticks the buttons are more curved like this:

Then you have the japanese super neo geo candy cabs which have the more line layout style:

I use this layout myself:

:snkb: :snkc: :snkd:
:snka:

but I can work with any of those layouts and then you also have the more common box layout:

:snka: :snkc:
:snkb: :snkd:

which is what most players now seem to prefer for SNK games.

Theo only way Kain can combo his throw is the corner.

-(corner) Kain throws, wait for him to recover then you can do charge :d:, :u: + :snd before they land.

-(corner and full super meter) Kain throws, wait for him to recover then :qcf:x2 + :snkd: before they land.

I say Kain’s name as “Cane” like from candy cane.

The game pronounces his name as " Ky- in" I suppose more Japanese that way.

So that was you! Great uploads dude, I loved the hell out of them. Nice to see Garou making a resurgence on Youtube, now if only Samurai Shodown V Special can do the same.

@Noc- Thanks just wanted to see if he had any other options besides those 2
EDIT: Has anyone ever been able to do either of these combos-
:d:+:snka::snkb:–>Ryuko Ranbu
or
Jumping :snkd:–>Standing :snkd: or :d:+:snka::snkb:–>Ryuko Ranbu
?

Did most Japanese cabs use the seimitsu ls-32’s for snk games? I actually prefer them over jlf’s

this is the best lay out ever for the neo. i actually hate the neo stick lay out, especially the old style stick. the hori is better, but just a lil. the one you postet was almost on all the arcades ive visited like in turkey, germany, belgium and france. in the dutch they usually use thr L, i hate it.

but wasnt it:

C D
A B

? i remember some of the cades had all 4 buttons mixed up where you had to learn the buttons locations first in order to play normally.

Well I prefer the candy cab layout since you can keep a finger on each button. The L shaped layout is ok too. Box layout just feels awkward with garou

I think it just depends on the way arcades had their setup. If i remember correctly FFA had that layout for SS2. Though I think it was more like:

AB
CD

The one you posted reminds me of the Neogeo CD pad layout:

I think that is probably why some locations had that layout.

It’s possible to do it with :d: + :snka: + :snkb: but doing it from stand :snkd: is trickier to pull off. It might makes things easier if you did jump :snkd:, land:, :snkd:, FC, then :qcf:x3 + :snkc:. The trick would be to do :qcf: + :snkd: as you jump in with :snkd:, land:, :snkd;, FC, :qcf:x2+ :snkc:. It should store the first :qcf: motion during the stand :snkd: FC so it gives you time to do :qcf:x2 to finish the motion into :snkc:. It’s easier doing it from the :d: + :snka: + :snkb: though since you can use the storing motion while press :d: + :snka: + :snkb:. So for example you would do it at :qcf: + :snkd: as you jump in, then land, :qcf:X2 + :d; + :snda: + :snkb: + :snkd:, then :snkc:.

OK thanks for the help Noc, looking at it seems like too much of a hassle, I tried doing it in Training mode today and the best I could do was combo it off his Dwn+AB
I think I’ll just stick to Jumping D–>St. D–>QCFx2+HP if I ever see the need.

i really like those pads. i got 3 of them, killed maybe 5 or 6 of them. just wish the dpad wouldnt die so quickly. if they made a quality design using this dpad youd probably have a pad that could compete with good sticks.

IDK all the arcades I ever seen had the layout

AC
BD

But to be honest most sticks for the SNK Machines were awful.

Weren’t they supposedly making a sequel to this?

Anything is possible with SNK with KoFXII coming out here soon. Just have to wait and see what SNK has next in line.
