Me and Giby started adding some of the hitbox data we edited on the SRK wiki. So far Rock has most of his uploaded. Check it here:
http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Rock_(Garou)#Hitboxes
It’s still in it’s rough stage but we will get it all nice and pretty in time. If you don’t understand a hitbox you can just scroll over the image with your mouse. I tried naming them to what they are. They are pretty simple to understand though just by looking at them. In the long wrong what we want to do is combine the frame data with the hitboxes similar to this example:
http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Akuma_(3S) (scroll down to see)
It should turn out nicely once it’s all done.
So we’ve added the hitboxes for both Dong and Rock. We merged the hitboxes with the frame data to make it easier for newer players to work with. We might be prepping other characters so if you see sections in a character’s wiki, but no images then we haven’t gotten the hit boxes yet.

Great stuff on the hitbox data guys. So to provide Garou players with even more technical data that will never ever be applicable in a match I’ve researched the throw invincibility.
After Knockdown, Hitstun and Blockstun, characters are invincible to normal throws for 10 frames and they are invincible to command throws for only 3 frames.
The ‘tapping down to shorten throw invincibility’ seems to be a figment of our collective imagination. I guess that tapping down would get you the right timing to tickthrow, and that is what made it feel ‘shorter’, it simply facilitates the tickthrow, all the while creating a sense of danger of a low attack coming so the opponent doesn’t start mashing buttons.
Next I’ll have a look at the knockdown times and how they differ per character.
Wakeup times:
(±0): Dong Hwan, Hotaru, Butt, Hokutomaru, Freeman, Jae Hoon, Terry, Grant
(-1): Rock, Kevin, Tizoc, B. Jenet, Gato
(-5): Kain
What does this mean: It means that the most common group has been taken as the 0-point. For example: Dong Hwan wakes up at the same time as Grant from a knockdown.
Then a small group wakes up one frame earlier (an almost completely negligible difference difference). For example: Gato wakes up one frame earlier than Hotaru, but just as quick as Kevin.
Kain is the only one with a radically different wakeup time, he wakes up a full 5 frames earlier than the biggest group.
Wow, very nice editing work Noc & Giby ! The way you’re doing it is great, maybe to improve it even more you could put the data regarding the cancellation or not of the move, in addition to the frame data. (btw for Dong you might have missed some shots for the charged D Ppower didn’t you ?)
Nice job too phoenix I’m getting fully convinced Kain is a pretty cheated bastard haha (btw off topic you’re from NL, is that you i had on my msn (thisguyismorepunkthanme) ???)
Yup, that was me…
Cool, nice to see you on MOW Catch me for some games some time (same id on GGPO)
If I remember correctly the charge :snkd: super for Dong have all the same extact hitboxes. So there wasn’t a need to do each hit from the since they are all the same besides the final blow. If you guys would rather see each hitbox as it happens in motion we can always redo it. Yea we were planning to add the cancellation and also guard point for each normal/special/super as well. We just wanted to get all the hitbox stuff in order first then we will edit things out as we progress. If there is anything else you all want to see added as well please let us know. We want to keep all the important information for each character on the wiki so I can just edit the first post here and keep it all organized that way.
The toughest hitbox so far is going to be Marco’s :qcf:x3 + :snkc:, since it has 4 different levels depending on how times you press :snkc:. The goal for me will be to have everything close to finished by the end of this month. I also plan on making a video showcasing the corner crossup used with each character that can do it in a match.
Ok everything is fine by me then Well, hope you guys keep it up this way !
So it’s about that time of the month. I’m having my monthly session this coming Friday night (10/21). I’m located in Glenolden, PA; which is just outside of Philly near the airport. Anyone is welcome to come by and play (Garou), or just hang out. If you’re interested in coming by, hit me up for the details. Should be running a stream as usual otherwise.
Also, Noc and Giby: great job with the hitboxes and the wiki so far. It’s looking good so far.
Running real late, but stream is up now.
My monthly session is coming up this Friday night (11/18). Anyone is welcome to come by and play (Garou), or just hang out. I’m located in Glenolden, PA; which is just outside of Philly near the airport. If you’re interested in coming by, hit me up for the details. Of course, I should be streaming too as usual.
So the only difference between the XBLA and MVS versions is the game speed being slightly faster on 360? Thinking about picking this game up again and playing online on GGPO while using the 360 training mode to practice things.
For the most part yes. 360 version is good for the training mode alone.
My monthly session is coming up this Friday night (12/16). If anyone is in/around the Philly, PA area and wants to come by and chill, hit me up.
