Georgia fighting game scene "Growing our scene is the key "

Well, welcome to GA. I don’t know of any player out in your area, but there is an upcoming Smash Brawl tournament in Cumming, GA. The last tournament these guys hosted had 40 or so attend. Even though it is Smash Brawl, this would be a good place to start as far as meeting some gamers that may live in the area. I know for a fact that many Smash players do play other fighters like SF and MvC. Either way, I say swing by the tournament if you can…

Saturday, July 27th - 12noon. $5 venue (more info)

Good Luck

In about 2 weeks, the wife, kid [3yo] and myself are packing up and moving from Pennsylvania to PTC (closer to the in-laws).

I’ve been out of the FGC for a bit, but got into modding [through SRK, ttt4lyf] and am potentially looking to dip my toes back into casuals.

So, how’s the MvC2 and Skullgirls scene in/around the ATL?

Any SF players in the Columbus area? Looks like I’m going to be moving there soon.

Well, welcome to GA! The fighting scene overall is huge here in GA, just extremely scattered. Now, I’m not sure how big the scene is for those games, but you definitely have people that play those games. A small question… What system do you play on and are there any other games you are into right now?

How soon do you plan on moving?

You could’ve scrolled down the main page and seen there is a regional section…

Ah my bad on my ipad its hidden under a subheader…ty for the heads up.

Kennesaw area here… I am curious about two different scenes…SSF4 and Smash (brawl).

I work 1 street from battle and brew but never see any cars at all there. Any pointers?

All I can say is that Battle and Brew has fighting game tournaments every Thursday night. The do different games every week. You just missed the Smash Tournament there… It was last night (Thursday). I heard there were a good amount of smashers there too. The next SF tournament there will be on August 1st @ 8pm. Even though you don’t see cars…I say still stop in to see.

Thanks to everyone that came out and competed. GG’s and we’ll see you next month!

So it looks like instead of Columbus, I’m going to be in Dublin. I’m guessing hoping for a SF scene there is asking way too much…

None of the Crew Round 2 guys on facebook play AE? If not, we have a small seen in Albany. It’s closer to Columbus than Dublin.

Edit: Nevermind. I read that wrong.

AE in GA is pretty spread out nowadays. ATL has a couple of devoted players along with Athens, Augusta, and few other places. Aside from GT gatherings and certain BnB’s, it’s rather quiet in the state compared to previous years.

Casual Matches of UMvC3 at GX

Do GT gatherings still happen every Friday? I’m attending GT as a freshman starting next week and I’d like to meet up with other people.

Yes, they do…
This is the only location I was able to find: Klaus Building room 1447

Not sure if they still meet in that particular room or not (since I don’t attend), but I will see what I can find out.
What are you looking to play?

Marvel 3. I’m not really looking to compete yet, though, because I still have scrubby habits to get rid of. Am I allowed to just walk in and hang around? Also, games are generally played?

Also, Klaus, huh? That’s convenient for me, since I’m majoring in CompSci.

UMvC3, huh. Then the Friday gathering at Tech are perfect for you.

From my understanding its free and you are welcome to just hang out or play, which ever works best. As far as the games that are played there…all I ever hear about is UMvC3 and Smashbros mainly. Other than that, I’m not sure.

Either way, the UMvC3 community/players are real cool people. So if you are looking to learn, don’t hesitate to ask someone there questions on the game and/or the techniques.

If you are on Facebook, you should join the GA UMvC3 group. They share techniques and help each other level up their game… Here is the link

Thanks! It’s a shame they don’t play much else (I’d like to have learned a little AE/some anime fighter/something old school), but all that sounds great.

Glad to help…

If you ever have free time come check us out at Gamers Xperience one day. We are currently hosting a fighters night, aka gathering, every Wednesday called “Rampage Wednesday” (www.gxgaming.com). We have all the fighting games and a bunch of setups. Our staff is well versed in fighters, just about all fighters.
