Willy Wonka* & the Chocolate Factory was one of my favorite films growing up, and later on I got exposed to Wilder’s charisma and brilliant comedic talent in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Gene Wilder’s name will be forever attached to genuine classic cinema.
We are the music makers…we are the dreamers of dreams…
Then again, that meant we got god tier in-his-prime Gene Wilder rather than someone akin to post-90s Eddie Murphy shitting all over his legacy. Or Sean Connery making embarassing animated movies about skateboarding grandpas.
Sir Billi. It’s even worse than the trailer makes it out to be. And yes, I have seen the entire thing. It’s not even so bad it’s funny. The “jokes” are basically just a series of really unfunny James Bond references, most of which are in the trailer, and like half of them aren’t even from the Connery movies. Like the parachute scene from The Spy Who Loved Me or the dam bungee jump from Goldeneye. And the worst part is the story I heard was that this was his last movie before retirement because he wanted to make a Scottish film for his final role to help their movie industry. So naturally, this meant a sub-Food Fight ghetto animation project slapped together on a computer running Windows ME.
