Gen Shenanigans Thread!

Hey guys, I’m not sure if this is known or not, but I thought I should share. I was messing around with cross-up Ogas in training mode and found that lk. Oga after super>cr.roundhouse will cross-up and is also un-crouchable on all Shoto characters. I thought it was pretty cool, I think I’ll start using it from now on instead of using medium Oga.

works also after ex hands sweep. I use this to torment opponents. also works after oga cross up after forward throw

I’ve only just started reading this thread, as well as the gen beginners thread in my attempt to begin learning the old schizo, but just wanted to chime in and comment on Warlike’s “English is not my primary language so excuse any grammar mistakes etc.” You speak (or write at least) the language better than me my man. Your English is ridiculously good. And you’re an absolute champion for taking the time to share all this info… I find it amazing, people like yourself, taking the time to put things of this nature together. No monetary incentive, just, the respect of your peers or whatever. Anyway, thank you very much… On a side note: fuck me it’s gonna take me a long time to get even halfway decent with this cat. Gen’s stupidly tricky. Peace.

hi guys, I have some questions regarding the ceiling drop oga setup after heavy gekiro in the corner and so I figure i’ll post it here.

Recently I was toying with some oga setups in some casual matches with my friends and I remembered that after a hk gekiro in the corner gen can use crane cr.lp followed by oga ceiling drop setup which would hit crossup/non-crossup depending on which part you hit the opponent at. The thing is it seems that no matter what I do, my oga would always hit non-crossup and my friend can always block it.

So i’m wondering what did I do wrong? Is there any part in the setup which i’m doing it wrong? I always use lk oga if you guys need clarification as I do not know if the strength of the oga would affect the setup anot and is there any difference between which side of the wall I dive to? For etc should I dive to the wall closer to me and do the ceiling drop or should I dive to the wall further from the corner and do the ceiling drop setup cause seriously I have seen Xian done from both side of the wall and it would still hit the opponent; best example I think would be SEAM 2013 GF matches between gamerbee and Xian

So guys please enlighten me in the way of the oga ^^ thank you!!!

he is blocking it because you are PREDICTABLE

Such profoundness from a master gen… U answer my question with so few words haha. But sensei how do I know what am I doing wrong? Does the strength of the oga affects whether it will crossup/non-crossup? What difference does it make using the close/further wall? Please enlighten this young one…

The key to Oga is to crash their thought process, if he is blocking the corner setups repeat the same setup midscreen, light oga is slightly faster than the hard oga due to distance covered before reaching the wall. I suggest you view the unblockables section since most of them use the oga setup.

the problem is you need to adjust the juggle level in the hk geikeiro before crane crlp oga to get a crossup or non crossup version(it can miss sometimes) AFAIK
u have to do the oga just after the animation of crlp (do the motion as it finishes)… this is all i can tell…

I see. So it doesn’t matter which strength of the oga I use. The strength of the oga just determine how fast I get to the wall I believe. Hmm time to hit the lab I think. So from what I know, the juggle height of the hk gekiro will determine whether it crossup anot since if I hit the below the knee it will cross up and if I delay the hk gekiro it will hit above the knee and it will not crossup. Am I right?

something like that

With ultra being out im finding that im using U2 in almost every matchup.
Can you help find some decent mixups after it?

Thanks in advance

@BiggsDaFraud I don’t usually use ultra 2 but for subsequent mixups I tend to go for meaty c.LK sweep OS or instant air jump forward crane MK, or instant air jump back crane MP on taller characters like Dudley, Sagat and the like.

Being that this is the shenanigans thread I was toying around in training mode and found a LK Geckiro setup on Ibuki when she uses delayed wakeup. What’s wierd about it, is that it’s blockable standing in either direction, however low blocking will get you hit trying to block in either direction. If you react to the “technical” message it’s perfectly doable, though I have yet to nail down the timing other than by feel. Sorry for not having a video of it.

crane cr.LK, crane cr.LP, LK divekick. It starts at 12:40
