HAHAH I just landed HK Gekiro, Crane Ultra 1, and Back throw, Dash x1, Ultra 1 in the same match.
Thanks for the props! It was a great tournament, great experience, literally. Really was fun watching you play Kiryu and Slowpoke, so much hype seeing three of the four TVs have Gen’s victory pose, all with different outfits on! It’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.
It really is a shame the only video of you will be loser’s finals, Kiryu. It definitely doesn’t reflect how well you were playing against everyone else. Wish they had top 8 as a whole, but I guess it would have taken too long to get top 8 for every game played.
Since you’re not working at the moment, Dazzle is probably your best bet. If you’re just looking to get yourself out there and share your Gen videos with the forum, it’s definitely the best device for it’s cost. If you intend to do something more serious, like tutorials/guides/uploading hundreds of matches/using it for other games, perhaps consider getting something else if money isn’t an issue. I know a lot of people who get the dazzle but end up wanting greater quality soon after, since they take the video recording very seriously.
I for one am looking into the device Gootecks and Mike use, Hauppauge HDPVR, but it requires a lot more than just the device itself to do it properly I think. Do your research before deciding, obviously :).
Look forward to seeing some videos from you when you get them recorded though.
Thanks for Reppin’ me. I feel the same way. Still had a great time no matter what people think of me after watching that video.
Yeah dazzle seems like the best option for me at the moment. A Hauppage HDPVR is a little too expensive and I just want some decent looking 480p footage with dazzle and not 1080p lol. The dazzle also seems easy enough to use, all I need is an extra scart cable.
I really plan on uploading a lot of online footage on youtube like FT10 with good players, it just seems kind of lame to talk the talk but not showing the walk you know (lol).
Warlike do you have a PC with a PCIE expansion slot? If you do and it’s over x6, get the AverMedia HD DVR PCIE Capture Card.
Um, this might sound retarded but what’s the timing to finish up Gekiros for all versions? I’ve been trying to work out the timing so I could do it consistently but I couldn’t get it. I’m basically mashing and hoping it finishes XD. Anyone willing to help me, Gen’s pretty fun and dropping Gekiros and not being able to do cross up Ogas are shit
there are a couple of threads about it in this forum with links to youtube… I’m too lazy to copy them, sorry…
I made the Gen compilation thread for this exact reason you know. It has all the old and newer threads in it so all the information a new gen or a Gen looking for something specific needs (it’s a sticky).
Yeah already looked at the topic and vid before posting here, but it didn’t help. Is there anything else to help me understand the timing?
LK and HK (no one cares about MK gekiro) are very different in their timing but they are the most important. LK gekiro is used as a finisher for our bnb combos except for a select few characters that can be hit by HK gekiro after insert c.lk c.lp (s.lp, whatever light attack really) TC2 (target combo 2).
It is kind of hard to explain the timing with words but I usually time them like this:
LK gekiro = 1…2.34 (the last 2 hits are like target combo speed and have to be done almost consecutively)
**HK gekiro = **1.2…3…4.5.6.78 (again, last two hits are like a target combo speed)
The dots specify a slight pause, I hope this is a little clearer. It can’t really be explained much better without the video that you’ve already watched. So i guess all that’s left is to practice.
Just made a video on the subject. this should help

im almost positive this is already known…so gens crane super gets stuffed by hondas neutral jump fierce. had to learn the hard way and it lost me a tournament match lol.
It can be stuffed by a mear jab if timed right.
Anyone going to Canada Cup 2011 hosted in Calgary, AB?
I think I will participate there if my time allows so, and I’ll try my best to rep U2 Gen in my second tournament experience.
pay for my plane ticket then I’ll go jk I’m unemployeed right now so… it’s not an option. I don’t think JUgot is going either. I think I’d spend the money to go to CanadaCup before I go to Evo. Just to meet some of the West Coast players that I talk to, plus it’s cheaper, and would be a good stepping stone to get ready for an event like Evo.
When is Canada Cup anyway? I was toying with the idea of going.
5-6 Nov.
Beta Changes for Gen
Gen
[EX Jyasen]: Opponent stun is +1F if the hit right before the last hit connects. Thus [FADC] afterwards gives Gen a max +8F.
[Lv1 Focus Attack]: Properties have been changed based on which stance Gen is in.
• [Mantis Style]: Forward dash after a hit gives even frames to both players.
• [Crane Style]: Forward dash after a block gives even frames to both players.
[EX Oga]: Damage increased from 100->150. Variation of the move [Far Kick] during EX is now faster, and a hit allows for further combo opportunities.
[Crane Style cr.MK]: Now +1F on hit, -1F on block. Hittable area has been reduced.
LOL the chat on the AE2012 beta testing in hilarious. People saying that vanilla Gen was OP and MK hand loops were way too strong. One guy claiming that Gen was toptier in vanilla but no one realised it (except him apparently) despite zero solid tournament results except some of yeb. And then some ‘gen player’ comes in (mustbeh4x or something) saying he did not play gen in vanilla at all but watched videos and came to the conclusion it was indeed OP.
Much lolleries to be had.
LOL u saw it too?
