Gears of War Judgment thread - Killing enemies one WOOO at a time

anyone manage to complete aftermath? i finished the campaign, but i did not get the achievement for it.

I’d whine about the dearth of maps, but let’s be real here. How many of those maps would even be playable? Epic has a hankering for making some very good maps and some very bad ones, rarely ever meeting in the middle. If they only offer four maps, they better be the former because they should put all their efforts into making them competent.

Currently playing through some of the campaign with my wife and it’s pretty fun so far.

Haven’t played this series seriously since Gears 1. My roommate ended up picking it up this week and while I wasn’t blown away by it, I didn’t exactly hate it either.

Biding my time until execution comes out though. Deathmatch doesn’t feel like Gears.

EDIT: recently played a match where a player was using the Stim Gas + Gnasher combo. I got bodied. Should’ve switched loadouts, Retro + Smoke did me zero good against that combination and that player was single handedly handing my team its own asses.

Execution is my favorite MP mode in the game. I’m SO SO glad it is back! Overrun clocking in at #2 and Domination sliding into #3. FFA and TDM can go die in respective fires.

Ah. Super Stim Fighter II HD Remix! The Stim nade lasts 4 seconds. Usually used by Gnasher users so they can slam your jams at Close Range and at most they can carry 2 at a time via Ammo Box. Best advice I can give for that is the moment they throw one down, BACK OFF. A lot of times, Gnasher players WANT that kill. So most are morons that will chase you. If they don’t, comeback to them later. If you have a Frag or a Smoke you can use a Frag to go for a Nade tag at that range (you may die)holding LB and pressing B or just trying to blind lob it. Throwing down a smoke makes them (and you if you are too close to the blast) unable to melee or fire(they can still move). Which should give you the opportunity to either get breathing room. One final option. Go get a power weapon. Torque Bow, Boomshot, Flame nades, Scorcher, Booshka(direct hit) and Breechshot (headshot) All very viable options to stop that shit cold.

Retro has a sweet spot range. VS Gnasher. You should be able to tap the trigger a few times to peck at their health and see the reaction and act accordingly. If they don’t throw down a stim then strafe around them holding down the trigger, go apeshit. Also. With no more stopping power. Retro Charging is a slightly more viable option too.

Alllmost completely done with the campaign. Me and my wife are in the last bits of the Aftermath campaign which is a nice little surprise. Some of those situations the declassified missions put you in are definitely bullshit lol. Fun…but bullshit. I can only imagine the headache this will cause when trying to beat this on the hardest difficulty and activating them, especially those ones where you have a set time limit and you have to clear away enemies before you progress, then there’s the limited visibility ones. Smart Spawn System is a step forward for the franchise since it does allow for some unpredictability in the campaign when dealing with enemies. When going around that corner will you be dealing with a little ticker…or will it be a 3 theron guards rushing your shit down with swords? I find Col Loomis to be a complete douchebag dumbass and I have a hard time believing he’s doing what he’s doing with enemies literally trying to kick the door in outside. Overall Judgement’s campaign is quite solid so far, It’s almost on par with Gears 3 but just missing it in my book. The thing that holds it back are gameplay changes like not being able to carry 2 normal weapons and a sidearm…that bugs the hell out of me.

Yeah Colonel Stache is an asshole and the whole thing makes NO sense whatsoever. Just wrapped up co-op with a buddy last night…still need to clear Aftermath. Those Declassifieds…yooooooo. Some of thoses were rocking our shit HARD and many times I wanted to say “fuck this” but I still did it anyway. I fear Insane mode. lol. Kinda ran circles around the final boss…wasn’t much of a challenge, at least on Hardcore.

Aiming for that Seriously Judgmental Achieveo next…

I take back my earlier comment doubting this game. Judgment is supremely satisfying, mechanically and narratively. Aftermath nearly had me shedding a tear. Nearly.

Halo-style weapon switching/grenade tossing is superior to the Gears-standard d-pad method. Went back and played RAAM’s Shadow after beating Aftermath and holy fuck is it clunky to swap weapons.

I dislike that we are not XBL pals. Amend this: Vizince
