I finally got around to playing it this morning. I was never great at it - I never really learned more than a 2-hit combo, but I used to be okay. Played through it on easy mode, and wiped the floor with everyone - except T. Hawk. Dear lord that man’s fierce has a little range. Just a little. We’re talking EASY mode though, took me 5 tries to get past him. I just kept tapping twice toward to get in on him and remembering that there’s no dash just in time for him to hawk dive me. Fireball? Hawk Dive. Hurricane kick? Hawk dive. Normal attack…you get it.
Finally remembered Ryu has a dashing fierce in super turbo. Then it was over.
So…yeah. I really appreciate the “How To Play”. It’s actually useful to someone just getting to learn the game, AND as I was playing through I kept thinking I’d heard these songs off the “Blood on the Asphalt” album over at OC Remix. Sure enough - OC Remixes one and all. GOOD call on those. Having Udon supply the artwork was a BIG win too.
So - I’m curious. Other than hitting up GameFaqs, which I plan to do later today, any quick pointers on someone knocking off some serious, SERIOUS rust? I know combos aren’t as large or as common as later games in the series, but I’d swear Ryu was supposed to have a triple-Fierce jump-in combo, and not even that wants to work for me. And when did Ryu get a fake fireball on a QCF weak kick? I knew Ken did, but Ryu?
