Man I wish this shit makes it to GGPO. BTW I main Kevin too, all about meter build then land that Lv2. He’s got good tick cmd throw setups, gaurd cancel into cmd throw or 236k. 2AB is good antiair. His roll can get you out of sticky situations. FOr some reason I have a hard time vs grant though.
His level one is actually better than his level 2. He has 100% afterwards.
Speaking of which, anyone know how to land his standing c Feint c, dcf+d BREAK, qcb+a into his super? Whats the timing on the a?
^About that combo, it’s easier to do QCF+LK–>QCB+Hold LP then release; see Kevin moves forward during the QCF+HK and seems to give him less time to recover for his QCB+A to hit them. You CAN get the QCB+A to hit them after the HK ver., but the LK one is better.
IMHO, you can do this combo anywhere on the screen-
Anything to QCF+HK, Break-Walk Forward->QCFx2+HK–>QCB+ A (Max charge) or F, D, DF+HP
Untrue. His level 1 kick super has below average start-up and ZERO invincibility. The follow-up combo potential is completely negated by the fact thats its hard as shit to land outside of a combo, and its even hard to land inside of a combo (outside of the corner) because of its crappy range. Mid screen, the only way to land his B super is with J.A (hop A pushes you too far) -> stand/crouch. A xx super. Everything else pushes you away too far for the super to land.
The reason his level 2 super is so potent isnt because it leads to more damage than the level one (because it doesnt), its the FEAR it instills in players because its damn close to having zero frame start-up (VERY important) and has a good amount of invincibility. When Kevins got full meter it completely changes the dynamic of the fight, covering his one and only weakness (mediocre anti-airs), and forcing his opponent to fight on the ground (his biggest strength), else they eat the best anti-air in the game. Not only that, but it also makes the opponent wary to use moves and block-strings that would otherwise be safe against Kevin. Rocks qcb A, for example, is safe on block against Kevin until Kevin gets full meter; at that point, it becomes a death sentence because Kevin can reversal with his p-power, and follow up with a good 40% ground combo, and then start his wake-up, and/or, corner mix up which can potentially end the round.
Learn to love his Lvl 2 super. Its saved my ass more than ANY special/super/normal in the game. The only problem is that its really easy to bait and JD, but thats completely offset by the impact that flashing P-Power bar has on the opponent.
You cant sneeze without getting hit by the bloody thing.
Omerta pretty much nailed why his P power kick super is so much better. The only real time his S power kick super is usefull is mostly in the corner after landing his :qcf: + :snkb:, then break (:snka:+:snkb:). Then again you can go into his after breaking :qcb: + :snka: slightly charged then :qcf:x2 + :snkd: in the corner. It’s an easier combo for about about the same damage pretty much. It’s also very true about Kevin having P power on stock because now you have to be even more careful not having any openings/room for errors. Another good thing about it also is like already mentioned getting opponents more cautious. It adds to Kevins already good mix-ups. Kevin can be more aggresive at this point and doesn’t have to worry much since he has the P power on stand by for reversals. Also since Kevin can build meter like a whore it doesn’t really matter when you use his P power, just make sure you land the super.
Also I’ll be uploading a couple of recent Garou Japanese Matches on my youtube today some from a recent TRF 1 on 1 tournament and a first to 5? 10? with Koba (Grant) vs Charle’s Wain (Kain). Stay tuned.
SO is it just me, or is te grant vs Kevin match in Grants favor? He covers distance so safely and quickly that its hard to get meter, so most of the time we are fighting mid range and meter less(early game) where Grants normals and specials are just better. SO usually if I’m not dead and finally get the meter it’s a struggle to land it vs a turtle Grant. Plus when he gets meter he’s a pain in the ass.
The only time I use the p kick is on combos anywhere on the screen but at the same time you gotta be close also because I noticed if u hit it from a slight distance, most of the hits miss which is a big waste of two meters…
I like both of them but I just prefer S over P for just kevin only since he seems to easily be able to use 3 levels in just one combo…
Kevin and Butt are my mains.
Doing 3 levels in 1 combo isn’t as easy as you think and you’ll never see it in a match.
Ya Kains cool, but I was talkin about Kevin
Yea I just noticed my bad hehe. I got mixed up cause I’m uploading the Kain vs Grant matches and was probably seeing things. That match is pretty even I think even though Kevin can build meter a lot faster but Grant’s defense helps him out a lot on that match.
HA, ya I figured it was something like that, I guess my boy is just a little better.
TRF Garou MOTW 1 vs 1 Tournament (There are only 3 videos right now) here is the playlist for it:
Also have a Garou MOTW first to 5 wins set of matches between Charle’s Wain (Kain) and Koba (Grant) here is the playlist of those matches:
Enjoy.
Swet! thanks man, my Friend’s gonna love these Grant videos(Im not…)
Well from what I’ve been doing lately it has.
Thanks for the vids also. I’ve really never seen real comp in this game till now…
so I’m noticing that you can essentially cancel any move in the middle of it, how are they doing that?
I’ve just dicked around with this game and have never seen that before and it looks VERY interesting.
Everyone has one cancel. Tizoc has 2 breakables. A+B is to break
Feint’s f+a+c and d+A+C
Each character has two feint cancel which are :r: + :snka::snkc: and :d: + :snka::snkc: and they all have various moves that can be canceled, but not all moves can be canceled.
EDIT: the Game was faster then me
Kain has 2 breaks also and Hoku has a breakable super as well. Grant cannot feint cancel.
Now what do you mean between break and Feint? and by canceling them are you talking about any input after you use the feint, or is there a specific command that you need to input?
(sorry bout the nub questions :S)
