Besides the Kevin cancels there is no other, there are certain fake out movies characters have like Gato and Marco for instance. Gato can do C, D or D,C to do feint fake out type motions. Marco can only do it with D, C. Best way to do them would be to press the first button then hold it for a bit while quickly pressing and holding the next button pressed. If you do it correctly they should do what looks like a feint special animation but they don’t fully do it. I rarely see anyone use them in an actual match, probably since they leave you wide open if you do them out in the open. Hoku’s and Kain’s are both listed in the Japanese Garou Mook when it came out in '99 so they have been known for a while.
You still planning on scanning that?
I would get it myself if could but I dont know where to look
I would scan it if I knew someone that could translate most of the things they mention in it. I dont know anyone who speaks or knows japanese/english speaking people. What I will do is scan it all out and make a pdf file of it so it is easier to flip through it. Also the mook is somewhat hard to get now. On ebay it goes for $160 last time I checked. I got mine from someone at the neo-geo.com forums. If you know anyone from Japan they might be able to find it at one of those stores with lots of arcade hardware with mags.
OK so IM watching some howard vids and a Jenet is doing something like c.FP into a cancel or hop, into another move into super. Anyone know if she has chains? Or is there some method to get combos like that?
More than likely she is doing feint cancels which you can do with either dwn + A + C or fwd + A + C.
Cool I’ll look forward to it.
$160 on ebay? Dang!
Surely there’s someone on SRK who speaks Japanese…
Depends how much stuff there is plus not everyone is going to be arse to translate the whole thing.
The CvS2 mook is 500+ pages, but I only use that for frame data info which is quite easy to understand as the layout it quite simple.
Thanx JaimeDL, well I’ve never laid hands on this precious mook yet
Strangely I knew about those “C-D” feints, found out by chance, but man, I would never have tried a down AB, BC ^^"
ok, 2 more noob questions…
Jenet and Marco have a rush super each that I dont know how to do, Jenet’s looks like a typical rush super(not qcf x 2 p) and Marco’s looks like his level 2 but ends in an air kick. Any help?
Oh one more thing, what do you do when Jenet does, c.FP qcfFK, cancel c.FP,qcfFK…ect. It feels like I have to take a hit or guard break
Jenet’s is a guard cancel super, so once you have P power, when you JD you press A, B, C during the JD window to guard cancel it. Marco’s is qcfx3 + C, press C as fast as you can to charge it for more hits. Its kinda like Yamazaki’s grab supers where you charge it up with tapping the button.
If they are just doing down + C, qcf + D, break, repeat there is a big enough window after the break to jump out/JD/backdash out of it, to escape/counter it.
dang its only abc? Is it useful for being that easy.
Well it does decent damage and it’s good for winning a match if you have no other options.
^yEAH, but remember that it will prob. do less damage if you use it counter a jumping attack.
Also Jennet can do Cr. C–>QCF+D? Was wondering what combos into that thing.
Are there any MAME trainers for this? It would be pretty cool if I could freeze the time and max out health so I could practice. I’m not even sure there are trainers for MAME, I could probably make due with a “code search” or other hex-like editor.
EDIT: NM I found a cheat file here
^Actually if you have a certain BIOS/UniBIOS files, you can play Garou as it is in the AES ver.; with a Training Mode, Options, Versus & Survival Mode.
That sounds even better, I’ll do that.
Uh…
Or you can hit TAB -> DipSwitches -> Arcade goes to Home -> F3
WOO
It doesn’t combo, it’s just something that she can do as a type of block string but there is a window to counter it. Only way you can combo into it is off a coutner hit or meaty qcf + A from about sweep distance.
she can combo, c.a+b into qcfD…but that move is canceleable only on hit. Kinda strange, that would be a streetfighter characters dream come true move, but in this game I find myself wanting to cancel it on block more.
I think you can do, c.C, A+C cancel into A+B, qcf D A+C cancel into super.
Nother Question
Is there multiple versions of the game? Cause when I land Kevin’s Kick super as an antiair it leaves the opponent frozen in the air, not swirrling downward like I see in Howard arena.
