Garou: MOTW Thread

Wow, look how high Freeman is.

And I thought Tizoc was good vs Grant?

huh?

Well that character chart matchup its according to howard arena right? According to me Grant is not better than kain (ever) and Terry on the 9th tier ummmmmmmmm i dont really get that one i believe terry its pretty strong and better than some of the characters that are on top of him(according to howard arena hes not good) Kevin on 4th tier WHAT? man i thought kevin was the god tier of garou but maybe thats just me. Gato on first tier list omg this is getting like dave chapelle show (Its crazy)

Thats why i dont trust in top tier list cause that slows you down mentally and also makes you think that your character wont be a good match up against other characters.

In conclusion Howard arena garoumatchupchartla7 sucks! and you may be wondering why? and i have the answer for that. Because tier list doesnt matter when you have such a balance game especially where every character can beat each other.

You can throw and super both crouching or standing characters the same way, it’s probably your timing. Which character was it you were trying to through exactly in training mode?

How much invincibility does Tizoc’s spin-taunt have compared to his forward feint?

The taunt only has lower body invincibility, and its only there for a short amount of time. His f+AC has a lot more invincibility time., but its only for upper/mid attacks.

Holy DAMN this game’s changed alot. Before everyone was saying Kevin owned the game for free and now he’s 3rd tier? Wow.

Now I’m really glad I picked up Gato too.

Howard Arena’s list is always changing and teirs are pointless in this game.

So I guess when I use the spin taunt, it would be better just to go for a JH rather than a BF?

OK what’s this I hear about Hokutmaru having a follow-up to his AB/Down+AB?
Anyone got any info on this plz?

Kicks can answer that for you :arazz:

One question about this Garou match with Kevin

(thanks Nocturnal for uploafding these matches from Howard Arena)

How does Kevin does his power charging move. He does it a few times during the match.(00:45)

It looks like he does a qcb+b and cancels to qcb+d and then cancels to light punch but i can’t figure it out

They just use his qcb + A/C into A + D repeat, you can also kara into it so it goes qcb + A/C, C, qcb + A/C, C, etc. or qcb + A/C, D, qcb + A/C, D, etc. You just have to time them right to kara and repeat the special again. All those methods work for gaining meter quick with Kevin. You can even do qcb + A/C, into down + (A + B + D) to get his high dodge move.

down + A + B, then B + C after it. He does like a small jump teleport that usually goes behind the opponent if your next to them. It’s kinda neat but at the same time can be risky to use unless you want to do some fancy mixup stuff then I guess it’s ok.

Can you input moves during the opponents flash animation when theyre doing a super?

either the timing is strict … or it doesn’t work. i tried many times :frowning:

Hoku c.A+B B+C…
The unique thing about this is that it will come out on block (anything besides B+C will not). Nearly all c.A+B will only cancel on hit.
On CH c.A+B B+C you can get a free qcf, qcf+HK. I’ve seen a vid where bigger stuff happened, but I couldn’t get anything better.
Kinda tricky if you use it for a reset~can create an ambiguous crossup.
If they’re abusing HP to try and throw you during an attack string, you can often make them whiff, then punish.
It can be a sweet way to bait a GC. They GC the c.A+B, then you teleport through their dp or qcb whatever then punish.
According to these guys, you’re at -12(!) on hit and -6 on block. My guess is you’re at +1~2 on CH.
After landing it on block go for a throw, super, GC, slide (3B), or even try for another c.A+B or A+B if you’re feelin’ lucky.
But like Noc said, it’s all really really risky.

This Just in!! (new to me at least)
While messing around with it i found out it comes out on whiff too!! Well since hoku has some nice pressure strings, if you get sorta out of range, go for c.A+B B+C. If you’re close enough it will connect, and if not you’ll still teleport closer. Pretty awesome! (now i wish the input was easier)

Anothe crazy Hoku quirk… You can JD after his TOP attack. (dunno if you can GC though).

I’m jumpin’ in with Dong and you wanna anti air me with Tizok’s qcf, qcf+K. At the same time i go for j.qcfqcf+P. You input yours at least one frame faster and your super comes out and I get simply j.LP and you successfully anti-air me.

Let’s say I jump in again with Dong and you go for the same super as do I. But while I’m inputting the qcf,qcf for my super, yours already comes out. During the flash I re-input it. It will come out then (not sure who will beat who though^^). (I could also opt to JD)

What I’m a little foggy on is that I’m almost positive I’ve been able to re-input something even if I already input the attack button.

Say I bait a GC with Hoku and go for j.qcb+HK. They wanted a GC super and then they’re super comes out. I’ve already input the full qcb+HK, but I re-input it and it comes out successfully.
Probably some timing thing~ PERHAPS super really do cancel some inputs… i’m not sure.
On that note, i don’t think entering TOP cancels inputs, but i believe there’s a slight window where inputs aren’t registered.
Let’s say I go for LK,HK,qcb+lp with hoku. During the HK the opponent enters TOP, if I slowly input the qcb during the TOP flash, it never fails to come out. If I go for the regular quick timing, it won’t.

Aw, crap. SRK unsubscribed me from the thread.
If you have a Grant that is as patient as I am with good execution, and both have TOP at the beginning, its hella difficult and boring match because no one can get in. Anything Grant can do to get in can reversal supered, and most can be reversal 360’ed. Tizoc is one of the few that can run away almost as well Grant, and Tizoc can knock you out of TOP with a single S super. Grant takes a hair more than just c.A, c.A, B super to knock Tizoc out of TOP. It’s just an opinion. If any part of of that equation is different (Tizoc’s TOP isn’t at the beginning, for instance), its a free win for turtling Grant. All just my personal opinion though.

I’ve been focusing on Jae Hoon a lot lately, and think I’m going to have to give up on him. I can’t come up with a solid gameplan for him. Reliance on the c.B, c.C link to try and overcome the hella recovery on his specials, useless Punch super (is there any way to combo into this midscreen other than dashback B?). Good crossup, 30% bread’n’butter combos, and manueverability though.

Maybe it’s time to give Kevin another try. At least he has a command throw, but damn he takes some fierce execution skill.

Whats up Toodles? Long time no see? Remember me? You met me at TS6 and we all let you crash with us at our place…it was you and Oscar…remember?

Keep up the good stuff here too guys…I play this thoroughly as well…just juggling 50+ fighters is hard at times to stay ontop of everything…

Li wanna play some Garou at the OSC? :badboy:

Yo Toodles anytime we are up man feel free to drop by and stay with us…we didn’t even get to play against each other in Garou…you were passed the fuck out…

And next thing I know you had to go on the plane…

Oh well next time. What I love is how that tier chart changes…it doesnt mean it sucks necessarily…its just proof that even 7+years later we still have one of the most balanced games out there…

Hell yeah I remember you. I’ll make sure to buzz you next time I’m in TX.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I started uploading most of the recent Socal Garou gathering matches up on youtube. Enjoy guys.
