This wiki thing is pretty neat but the fact that anyone can edit anyone is kinda good and bad, hopefully it all works out though. I’ll add so character related strats for each character then if anyone else wants to add to it. Take care.
I could be mistaken, but it’s possible that it was the qcb+p cancelled, but I swear it was qcb+k cancelled. Not the one where he falls from the sky, he reappears right back on the ground. Think Hanzou dd+s.
Also some more questions…
Still want tons of Hoku stuff-(slowly working through this whole thread)
Dong Hwan is my other main. Special overhead is unsafe, total bummer when I found this out. Same with air d+k. On hit. Both moves.
I’m having trouble using Dong against this really good Jenet who jumps a lot. He’s not a scrub, he does it to make fun of me/toy with me, possibly because I jump a lot. I need help dealing with her air control.
Read my private message I sent to you. If you jump in the arcade, you’d get killed…the Jenet player, or Dong Hwan. Dealing with air control online is a waste of time for the most part, and Dong’s anti-airs aren’t that good. You will need some fast vertical anti-airs like Kevin’s qcfx2+D, Gato qcfx2+K, etc, but even then it sucks with the online delay.
Edit: The Jenet jump moves you are talking about, are her jump D crossup, or that the air d+K?
Air d+k for any Jenet user, but people spamming jump lk. Lots of scrubs do it and I can deal with it, but, like you said, it’s crazy abusable online. Basically he’ll get ahead in life, then do that to waste time. Wait for me to run in and make a mistake, then punish me with full meter.
EDIT:
Thanks a bunch guys!! Every once in a while I consider a stronger opponent on Kaillera my rival. Not to name name’s, but I just beasted someone because of some simple non-jump strats and played a lot smarter. Here’s lookin’ for a new rival!!
Not the same Jenet, but kept beating out her air d+k with d+A+B. Realized I have to use the reach on it more than just the built in evade. Dong’s got kicks like dudley punches!
Best thing to do on Jenets like that is either stand A when she comes down cause it trades with that d + D move. Dash under her as shes doing it then counter attack as soon as you can from behind her. JD 2-3 hits into GC unless they go for the 4th hit which usually counter attacks the GC. Depending on what move you are GC into, best thing is to GC into super which isn’t too hard if you they get predictable. If they do the d + D from a low jump then just back dash away or jump straight up to counter her as she lands, it all depends on whether they go for all the hits or not. As for Dong and Hoku strats I’ll post some main things to use with them and what not to use a lot soon. Take care.
Thanks homey!! You’re the best! Anywho, I went to howard arena just to goof around wishing some new matches were up and was browsing hoku’s move list. The move I was thinking of in that video is d+A+B B+C. He punches then sorta does a floaty teleport. Don’t know if it’s any good, but it looks cool.
Been meaning to try out c.B qcf+B A+B df+D qcf+P into a reset. You land before the opponent if you time it right. Then you can do that combo again. Overhead, or slide which will chase backdashers and beat some supers.
I use Dong alot to and yeah Jenet is my biggest rival. I personally try to run under her d+D if its high. When low I tend to block it but that’s a bad idea. In fact I believe you should never block it. Nocturnal what do suggest to do if its in the corner and its low?
Well like I said the stand A trades with it, try his DP + A/C but do it right when she gets close, you have to time it right so you can beat it. Jump straight up or up/back then wall jump away, that is if you get a chance to do it. If all else fails then try to JD the hits then GC into his DP + A/C, also low jump air grab with Dong is pretty good if you can land it before she starts the low jump d + D. It all requires timing so just practice those things and the Jenet player will think other wise the next time. Hope this helps.
Ok I’m lost in vids I’ve seen Kain do some crouching A+B or whatever it is to standing C, but I can’t do it. Is it not possible on DC?
The sC chains/links(I always get the 2 mixed up) from the d+AB. Just get close to the enemy, hit +AB, then when it hits press C, that should launch them leaving them open for pretty much any of his attacks.
so it’s a feint combo then?
There’s no feinting involved. You just have to time the C right to make it connect. It works on all versions of the game.
Korean casual MOTW matches 2/24
These match videos are courtesy to Gamesection.co.to and Wurideului Nolituh.
Wurideului Nolituh(means “Playground for us”) is an arcade locaded in Seoul, Korea, and it’s famous for its KoF competitions. To me, they don’t seem that exceptional in MotW, but rather average. Still a good watch though.
Follow these link. If the media player does not load, then click on the play button until it does. They’re having somewhat of traffic load, so you may have to wait a bit for some of the matches.

okay, i just got the game today in the mail for the PStwo (damn play-asia and their long shipping).
wow, i was blown away. and this is coming from a die-hard 3S player.
like, the level of animation, while not as good as 3S, is AMAZING (considering the hardware it was designed on). the hit effects are particularly good, like Kevin’s super moves and the flames… awesome from a graphical standpoint.
i’m still lost on the engine and the way things work, but time will help that.
i think Kevin’s gonna be my main character. i like his moves, his style, his “look”, etc…
anyway, just wanted to say that garou has another faithful follower.
I’m requesting Gato strings, because I need some. Please?
If you can please go back a few pages cause there are plenty of Gato combos, chains, strings that have been posted already. I’ll have to put all this stuff in Wiki then so the same combos don’t get posted over and over again. Take care.
Are you sure there are strings in this thread??? All I’ve seen are combos and stuff…But I’ll check it out again.
As alwasys though, thanks for the help.
edit…
Found some…must have missed em I guess…Thanks though.
uh, this may seem really retarded, but i’m still learning garou’s engine…
what’s the difference between a break move and a feint move? besides the obvious, both stop Move A and allow you to do move B when you normally couldn’t.
sorry if this has been answered, but garou’s engine is kinda different…
Breaking is the cancelling of a game designated (you can’t choose this) SPECIAL move by pressing AB. If you look up character moves, it SHOULD say somewhere what the character’s break move is.
Feints or Feint Moves - these are fake out animations that serve a variety of different purposes. One of these purposes is to cancel a NORMAL attack (granted it’s cancellable). You CAN NOT cancel special moves with a feint. (Shit, I’ll try to put some of this stuff in the wiki soon).
Keep Play’n. Peace
ah, thanks for the explanation. i plan on being active in this thread, and i’ll try to sift through it all, but getting a grasp of this engine (been a Capcom fanboy for 5+ years) is difficult.
so… i’m using Kevin as my main character for now.
what is his break move? what are his feint moves?
i’ve been messing around, and when i do qcf + kick, and then press f + AC quickly, he’ll stop his kick/throw animation and i can move again.
bah, what is this? his break move? and if so, why am i getting away with pressing f + AC to cancel this move?
and btw, what is the normal button mapping for this game? i have a cutom sanwa (jap 6 button layout for all my Capcom fighters). i have my buttons mapped as so.
A C empty
B D empty
A = weak punch
C = strong punch
B = weak kick
D = strong kick
now, should i keep it mapped as so? or should i change it so both my Weak attacks are on top row, and both strong attacks are the bottom?
or should i just invest in a good PS2 compatible Neo-Geo stick?
