Are you guys staying in Ottawa for the night or heading home after the tournament? If you’re in town we’re hitting up some of the bars on Preston (right outside the venue) IMO.
To my knowledge, not enough Toronto players are making it down for this tourney, but i’ll gladly team with my homeboys RDK and NickCam for any team MMs.
Hey all,
Just wanted to update you with a heads up that Omega Collectibles has sponsored us with a couple of MadCatz Fightpads for the 360 and a sweet Japanese Import White controller for the Wii/Gamecube. They’ll be up for grabs as part of the tournament prizes. Big thanks to them and hopefully we can continue to have them onboard in the future.
Team tourney? Theres no team tourney man u should take the time to read the thread carefully plus from wwhat I heard GO uses a really stupid tournament format so its prolly gonna take all day just to run singles
Yeah yeah yeah heard this a million times. To clarify - there’s pool play (4-6 man pools) before the brackets to determine seeding. This usually wraps up within 30-45 minutes and should be pretty quick overall especially with our 10 minute DQ rule. After that it’s 100% normal double elim brackets, nothing crazy. I believe the plan is to cap the double elim bracket at 32 players based on the pool results so they do matter. This is the same idea that you see at Evo from what I’ve seen so it’s nothing outlandish and primarily exists so that we don’t hit the usual MTL issue of having a tournament run until 4AM
If you’ve got any questions about this please PM me or post up here and I’ll answer it ASAP.
And yeah, there’s no team tourney scheduled. If you want to run one when brackets are over just run it past the event admins when you get there, unfortunately I can’t say yes or no to it.
With more people coming in from out of town I know there are talks of splitting these into a multi-day event however for something that occurs monthly/bi-monthly it’s very difficult to get the venue for something like that and I know the venue is NOT available overnight like what you guys have for the MTLSF tournaments. Add to that the additional cost and you can understand the problem. We may see this in the future though!
If you guys do have any feedback about the tournament setup after the fact I do strongly encourage you to post it here or on the feedback thread that will be up on the Gaming Ottawa forums. These guys have taken huge steps over the past few events to make these events the best they can be so feedback definitely is taken to heart by their staff.
