turtle beach is for mw ****. Play some sf and use your beats by dr dre head phones connected through ur computer, while listening to dr dre
I’d say Astro, but that’s only because I have a free A30 heading my way (c/o Capcom) with some sweet Megaman pixel art done by yours truly.
I have some headphones by plantronics that I bought a year ago for $35. I don’t know which model it is but it’s quite nice. I’ve recently bought a Creative Fatality HS-800 and it’s really nice. Comes with a detachable microphone and a carrying bag. The sound quality blew me away.
i use the Bose around ear headphones with a wired xbox 360 headset underneath. simple but effective.
Are you looking to use console or PC? Because if you’re using PC, the best option is always to get headphones and a desktop mic.
Sorry to hijack thread, but what are folks opinion about best headset for console (Xbox 360 / PS3) gaming? I’ve read reviews on Tritton and Turtle Beach on amazon, but anyone have personal experience? I’ve heard the wireless one’s are very finicky.
Thanks if anyone has info. But yeah, I agree with using good headphones and a desktop mic if PC gaming.
These guys tend to be pretty serious about headphones for gaming (quality and surround sound). Total overkill for fighting games, but it can be a real difference for shooters. You might look them over:

I have a set of the older styled Turtle Beach X11 headphones. They were a fantastic purchase. Voice chat is loud and clear thanks to chat being pushed in both speakers and amplified. There is not much I dont hear unless I have a bad connection over XBL. On their own as headphone, the sound you get compares favorably to equally priced headphones. After getting them all thoughts of buyers remorse went away when I used them for the first time.
I’d recomend getting a set for any serious gamer.
[A noob’s opinion.]
Thanks everyone for your opinions I should have mentioned I’m not using them to play sf. I play reach, mw2 and single player games like dead space and wanna be immersed in the game but I can’t use my nice 5.1 surround sound with the wifey and newborn sleeping in the other room lol
I’m not a fan of headsets as I find they aren’t that great for music and I don’t want two different headphones on my desk.
I use some closed Foster cans, and a relatively simple clip on mic that attaches to the cable. I find this to be very effective.
Don’t bother with headsets that are advertised as being specifically made for 360. The best option for sound immersion and isolation is to buy a standard PC gaming headset, and then use a Steelseries headset connector to pair it with a 360 controller.
Sennheiser, Steelseries, Razer, and Creative all make great gaming headsets, though most are priced at $100 or more. If you really need to keep it in the $60 range, just buy a decent set of earbuds and pair it with a clip-on mic.
If you are looking for FPS gaming headset, buy the Astro A40 mixamp and a real set of headphones from companies like Sennheiser, Grado, AKG etc. Otherwise just buy a real headphones and connect it to your receiver or buy a headphone amp if you want to step it up.
Ok I’m going to look into all of tht thnaks
