While I myself like the idea of game trading I wish Sony would have made it less of a risk to do unless you know the person really well I would not even risk it overall i think this whole topic is trouble waiting to happen
Of course there will always be a risk. However, that risk is probably 10x less than a newer member. Someone that’s been around longer means they’ve been part of the community longer and thus less likely to backstab you. Also there’s the rep meter, so you know if they’re a dick or something positive to the forum.
Just a suggestion for other traders since this is what I do: definitely buy games on separate accounts, and for maximal safety buy only one game/item per account so if someone tries to scam you, you’ve only lost one game that you still have installed and playable on your hard drive+system anyway.
I was fortunatley able to get my account back, of course not before he spent the 8 dollars I had in my wallet…lol But yeah this sharing thing is good for our community, who wants to buy every alternate out fit( even though I did) at 3.99 a pack, after paying 80 bucks for a game. I did it cause Im inclined to share with people as long they arent dishonest. The fact that he jacked my account tells me he was a punk ass coward, I was gonna give/trade him tekken dro, bionic commando, HDR, all the xtra sf4 costumes and the watchmen…all I wanted in return was ratchet and clank quest for booty. Why would you want to fuck over someone who is in turn doing you a favor is beyond me.
Some people are dicks =\
How exactly does game sharing work? I’ve never really heard about it until I started visiting SRK but it sounds useful for my IRL buddies. I made 2 buy SF and 1 refuses so it seems handy. Do you just exchange swap logons and dl from that accounts store?
I could be wrong but I believe it’s possible to deactivate certain systems from accessing your downloaded copies, I think there’s an option in the PSN store for this.
Go ahead and get your blood.
edit: scratch that, it’s in account management and only affects the system you are currently using. Sony is assuming every system the game is downloaded on belongs to you, so be careful with this shit.
and to add to that about this trading system… if i trade a game with someone do they have to be logged in to my account for them to work? and would dlc like the alt costumes for sf4 download with no problem using this trade method and would i only get 5 (4 others including mine) total downloads? and lastly say my friend downloaded 4 costume packs would my account be tapped out in terms of trades or would i be able to allow 3 other ppl to have a go at my dlc?
They don’t have to be logged in for it to work since it’s activated on your system. In fact, once you start the downloads of what you need you can log back onto your own account and the downloads will continue.
The costume packs are tradeable, but it’s 5 total systems the account can be activated on (including yours), not number of downloads. So yes, 3 other people may have a go at your DLC.
sweet but in the costume sharing thread they said u have to make a new user name and keep that account name for the dlc to work… that sounds kinda wack
That’s correct. The reason is because that account is actually the one used to verify ownership on your console. Basically, the PS3 is able to use any account on the machine to authenticate for DRM (which is why, unlike Xbox 360, where you have to sign into multiple Gamertags, there’s almost no reason to sign into multiple Online IDs on PS3). If the account isn’t there, though, then the authentication fails.
I’ve read that the PS3 can also do something similar for save data and game data.
That Hayzink guy is giving us new users bad names. I’ve seen tons of 09 users because of the SF IV release and most of us are trustworthy.
honestly I have gameshared a few times but I have heard so much about people getting their accounts stolen that I’m scared to gameshare at all now
If somebody happened to stumble across Shoryuken and make an account six years ago that doesn’t mean they’re trustworthy, furthermore “Game sharing” is basically stealing (abusing the lack of crippling DRM to get multiple copies of everything you’ve downloaded) so I don’t think you can really trust anyone who’s doing it
I don’t think it is considered stealing…its a gray area, a hack/power use at the most.
still, i am a 2009er, so not gonna try.
I triked this before with someone who wanted some of my crap (i wanted nothing in return was just being nice) but i knew the guy online for years. Ive seen plenty of other people get ripped off with that stuff though, and its only going to get worse when the 360 gets game downloads next month LOL. I say be extremely cautions with this one, i like the community around here though.
I love pineapple on pizza

Trust is built over time, which is why the rules are what they are.
I’m an 09er but I’m an honest person. I’ll happily would take HDR if anyone willing to offer it to a stranger like myself. If not, it’s all good.
How does game sharing work? I tried to share Fat Princess with my cousin however, when he tried to open it, it said something about copyright infringement.
edit: i got it
I have a question regarding game sharing. If you’ve used up all your 5 activation slots can you make a sub account with a different email/login to get 5 fresh activation slots for any games purchased on that account? Makes sense to me. Can anyone confirm?
Hey… just wondering, did you manage to share the sf4 costume packs succesfully? I was wondering since it’s not a game… thanks!
(I know I’m a 09 and I’m not planning to gameshare from SRK. I will share with my real life friends)
