Games with an Arcade Stick

Listen to this man. He just said everything there was to be said

The 360 in Japan is getting tons of shoot 'em ups, so that’s another candidate if you’re into importing.

yeah but like, which ones.

If you feel like sharing anyways, but I got some great suggestions nonetheless.

DMC3 SE is interesting. Makes jump canceling easier but takes some getting used to. And you need a stick that works like the left analong stick . (hori fighting stick 2 works nicely)

castle crasher’s is the only one i’ve found so far.

I played Halo 3 with my TE stick for a few hours because my friend only had three controllers and they were in use by other friends. I put it on legacy controls so that the left stick was for turning and moving forward and backward. At the beginning of every life I would switch it to the right stick so I could aim a bit further down because by default you’re aiming a little too high to hit people and then switch it back to the left stick. The best I did was 6 kills and one double kill in a match. The others were all 1, 2, or 3 kills. Surprisingly, I always had at least one kill per match.

The lack of creativity in this thread astounds me. Beat-em ups? No shit? Blew my mind. Next you’ll be telling me SHMUPs are a neat idea for an arcade stick. Is PacMan fun on a stick?

Let’s be creative here. I like to play Stepmania/beatmania games on my stick. Not only does it work well, but it also gets good practice for when you go back to fighting games (most combos can be though of as a little rhythm, so memorizing button patterns and turning it into a song can be a helpful memorization tool for combos).

Another more obvious one is pinball games. I have the Start button on the right side of my stick, and select on the left, so it’s a perfect set up to recreate that realistic pinball feel. If only I had vibration to give it that jostle you get when you use a flipper it’d be perfect.

I played Contra 3 (snes) on a Stick that had the MK layout. Run was used as R move (STAY). HP was Shot, Lp was Jump, Hk was change wpn and Lk was bomb. Shit is TOOOO GOOD.

the earlier tony hawk games actually control really well with an arcade stick suprisingly

Most platfromers, RPGs, Puzzles and U.N Squadron.

SOTN, TMNT Arcade, and hella much other games work well. Oldschool 2D RPGs work well too (Suikoden, FFVI, Etc.)

i fuond CC to not work so well with the SE fightstick :frowning:
the buttons were akward to press and holding RT to cast magic etc…
i dont know… not a fan

Arcade stick is perfect for the sega megadrive collection

I’ve had a good time with Mega Man 9 and Bionic Commando Rearmed with my VSHG.

Bomberman ultra plays great with arcade stick

Love the mege man x games on SNES pr PSX with a stick

I was thinking about this. I’ve got a TE so I’ve thought about using punches/kicks + KKK macro for the keys (or the kicks and jab strong for 5 key) and the stick to the left or right for scratch. How are your results playing beatmania on a stick?

stick is just so much easier to work with, pretty much anything could get better with sticks.

GUNSTAR MUTHAFUCKING HEREOS FOR PSN!!! It is a must buy, trust me, classic Genesis game that will rid your heart of any negativity and makes baby kitties extra Fluffadoratasticable-ly!

I grew up with the NES Advantage, so for most old-school games I find stick works better for me. MM9 in particular was about six times easier once I got my Fightstick repaired and got the MAS modded for X360. (After the Fightstick crapped out twice, took no chances- got the good shit in shape)

Only problem is when you can’t set buttons for games. Castle Crashers would work great if Block and Magic weren’t all the way out in the boonies and a complete bitch to press/hold while doing other stuff, especially at the same time. I can’t even play it on the MAS, because it only has six buttons, so LT and RT are MIA. But most other stuff, like Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection and most retro arcade titles I tend to use my Stick on if I get the chance.
