#GamerGate: Keepin' Journos Honest

I just want to read about games man. shrug

You know, that’s exactly what I was trying to do when I found a bunch of articles on various game sites that said “gamers are dead”

They aren’t issues to YOU. The problem is that this things are still there and a group of people took advantage of it. I can’t stand Anita since day 1 because I know what she wanted to do and how she was going to accomplish it as soon as she made the kickstarter. You’re all focused on trying to prove some higher moral ground than understand where they are coming from and why that matters when you address it. The way you are defending things amounts to “well I don’t think its an issue”.

Unfortunately it is retard easy to continually make you dudes look like ass with the way they are doing it. You don’t even have to take the SJW angle for it either; most of these people just took the lazy way about it.

I think most people here just want honest unbiased game reviews that don’t push agendas and aren’t just glorified commercials.

This is why I tend to stick to mostly Siliconera or Gematsu now.

God dammit you guys went way off topic. Thankfully this page kinda got back on track thanks to @d3v.

I was hoping something significant went down but a bunch of people are bickering about unrelated to gamergate garbage and arguing with razor who should be banned from this thread already.

Oops. Now that I’m not distracted, has there been any updates on the Dina and MN9 thing?

As I stated in my response to you anyone can have a number of reasons to feel excluded. A lot of people have problems with homosexuality, or certain depictions of religion and politics so with that in mind who’s to say a comic/game/movie shouodnt get pulled off the market if it offends one of these people. If we start censoring artwork because some women find it over sexualized then who’s to stop other political groups from pulling art or stories that contain elements they find offensive. If a conservative religious group wanted batwoman pulled off the market because they find homosexuality offensive then we should just obviously do what they want because clearly it means a lot to them and we don’t want to exclude anyone.

A lot of the people on GamerGate and the ones against Anita are more then willing to look at the other side and see where they are coming from. Most people in this debate know more about feminist and gender issues then the people advocating for it. In that being said there is a difference between having a reasonable discussion with rational mature adults and listening to a tantrum from raging zealots. If feminist said"we don’t mind sexualized women but just ask there be more sensitivity when it comes to content directly marketed at women"I don’t think anyone would have a issue with that statement. However as opposed to that line of reasoning all we ever get is"I don’t like this so I want it gone ASAP."

:frowning:

Fucking A.

So, The Escapist published a bunch of reactions from female devs.

All but one of them consider it to be nothing but a sexist assault on female developers… which is strange considering devs have had almost nothing to do with it. While I’m sure they are getting flack from some of the more extreme assholes, a lot of their reactions seem like they are just buying the media’s narrative hook-line-and-sinker without even thinking to look anywhere outside the mainstream media. I don’t even remember a single one mentioning the NotYourShield hashtag.

So, yeah, it just seems like a lot of people in this industry can’t be reached.

Shouldn’t be anonymous. Those statements should able to be corroborated by someone.

I’m not buying the authenticity of it.

Oh, and the MO of Anti-GamerGate, in a nutshell:

Which is why #gamergate is so important. They have a much bigger pedestal to voice from, and more people will assume (wrongfully) that what they write is the truth. I really hope #gamergate is successful.

Developer #2 seems to think #gamergate is an attack against developers which is far from the truth.

Soooooo much misinformation.

You notice how a lot of these sites with these articles have no comment sections?

yeah

I have to keep coming back here to make sure I’m not going insane, I’ve been talking to prominent internet figures on twitter and they are CONVINCED its a misogyny campaign, like we all went to a misogyny meeting or something.

God how stupid are people.

There seriously needs to be a some what hilarious campaign to get publishers to stop making those sexist romance novel covers.

Isn’t it pathetic how they’re still trying to push this agenda? It really makes me sick. They need to get off their high horse and get the fuck out of here. I can’t wait for the day they’re overthrown.

We need to keep going to places like Techraptor and Revue Labs.
