Yup. If a great comic writer wanted to make Thor female because he had a personal awesome idea to follow through and the story/writing was good then people wouldn’t care. Instead they pander to silly “you go girl” feelgood BS in both the gender swap and the writing.
This is the Marvel universe where gender has 0 implication on your physical capabilities compared to actual super powers. So any remarks of “women are weaker” means the writer does not care about conveying the world in a convincing manner but instead puts it obvious pandering to RL demographics that ruins immersion. Not much different from the gay super hero who died of Aids just because the writer wanted to.
But of course logic is misogynistic and people dislike the comic just because they hate the female gender!
This is their next argument after you debunk the “industry needs to change” part. Once you let them make their own games and compete in the free market, and they see no consumer who actually spends money wants to buy it, they’ll say you don’t buy the game because you hate women, and they next goal post will be to shame gamers into buying them just to prove they don’t hate women. That is how you spin incompetence into profit.
Uh, if you honestly believe people are going to buy something because some bloggers are trying to shame then into it, then you must not work for a living or money has no value to you. And if peer pressure had no power then almost no one would be smoking. Most people who started smoking did so exactly because the people around them were smoking. Shaming is simply the stick that accompanies the carrot of fitting in.
Also why are you dismissing their power as “some bloggers” when they have a noticeable presence in academia, media and government?
