I mean, it’s a horrible looking piece of hot mess game. And a game like that being made in this day and age and acting like it’s the holy grail of gaming is an affront to the intelligence of gamers. But I imagine a lot of people are going to buy it out of sympathy with the way this keeps getting spun.
Especially if the comments section keeps (rightfully) bringing to attention how bad the game actually is. I actually kind of hope it gets actual reviews just so I know who to stay away from when the time comes (aside from the circle jerk known as Polygon and Kotaku).
I’m looking forward to seeing what the reviews for it are (inb4 ‘flawed gem’ spiel trying to play both sides). Also the people concerned are already raking in money so getting more money from the same audience makes little difference except that Valve is getting a cut instead of Patreon. If you’re really interested in what people think of the game, have a look at the average player stats a month or so after the game comes out.
How is being a MRA a bad thing or a detriment to your character and stance. The idea of “impact” is the primary driving force that pushes people you want on your side away, and it pushes them into a position where they will mock you for your near “theological” like beliefs. It’s incredulous simple to type cast a man who believes in egalitarianism as a “rape enabler” for not subscribing to the exclusive dogma of feminism, and it’s false notion that women are still “victims”. Even though the main body of feminism is heralded by white women pushing upper middle class issues like “wage gap”, but fail to address issues that affect the majority of females who are lower class with kids. And it’s gotten to the point where feminism is pushing an ideology that should be considered ethnocentric, if not straight out racist, by suggesting that females that adhere to traditions from their respective culture are beings incabable of higher thought and must be liberated. That type of rationale was the primary justification used by the establishment to enslave and kill blacks, natives, and Asians.
Now why is it important that feminism be discussed and open to harsh scrutiny and criticism? Because as something that borrows heavily from “academia” and presents itself as a pillar of modern and “correct” thought. And this creeps everywhere into every day lives to the poi t where even something as inconsequential as video games becomes a hub for it to push it’s message. The fact that it’s a topic for the creation of discussion, rating, critical analysis, etc regarding video games. It becomes impossible to seperate game ethics from journliwm. It’s important that content creators explicitly state their position and ideology to redears so that the reader is fully aware of the co tent he is reading and being feed. It a morally bankrupt to indoctrinate or subvertly feed children, teens, young adults, and even adults into any kind of philosophy without first explicitly making sure they know what it is. Especially when the content creator starts making opinions on something like critical analysis, as most people are incapable of discerning what the subtle context clues are. The most ethical thing that could happen is where content creators explicitly label themselves what they are and stop masquerading as something they are not. These people are welcome to push whatever flawed and half baked agenda they want to push, so as long as they are explicit in their age da and design.
Well, that’s if it’s actually Greenlit. And, that doesn’t even mean a complete game will come out of it. This is where they have a chance to prove they’re actually interested in selling the game (unlikely) or only using Steam for a platform to play victim (likely) Actually, you know what? I think we should start an email campaign to Steam to remove the game based on the fact the developer is using the platform as a soapbox to push a narrative, in bad faith. The fact that not even a day after it hits Greenlit, the press has already written a smear article. I wonder where the tip came from? Perhaps the author of the game? LOL!!

Well, it IS a real game, and to be frank there’s a ton of really awful games on Steam. There are also tons of devs on steam that do dumb stuff and don’t get games taken off so I’d just say leave it. Besides, the chance of it getting taken down by Valve is pretty small, and such a campaign would no doubt just result in more media attention which results in publicity which results in pity-sales (even if they don’t actually play the game).
Steam being used to push the developer’s narrative, which was almost immediate reported on by a news source. I’m not even sure if that’s a valid complaint, and I doubt they’d do something about it because I suppose you could say the same for Hatred, however, the developers weren’t making a scene out of people giving them controversy nor were they using the actual Steam forums about how bad the media (in the case of the developer, GG) is and how they’re harassing them.

But OMGWOW if it isn’t, lol! Talk about a huge breach of ethics if that’s the case. It’s also against the ToS and grounds for a removal.

Will be interesting to see the glowing reviews from places like Polygon - especially if it comes from personal friends and they don’t bother to disclose it. I feel fairly confident they’ll do it simply because they see the very act of doing that as spitting in the face of their readers and the more blatant they can be about it, the more fun it is to them.
I won’t comment on the quality of the game without playing it myself. If she manages to make a legit game, then good on her, but the problem I personally have is that I probably won’t be able to play it and not have my opinion colored by the creator’s character. It’s the same reason I never got around to playing Fez even before Gamergate, because Fish was such a douchebag that I just couldn’t see myself fully enjoying it without having some niggling thought in the back of my head that I was playing some asshole’s creation.
