Was that a doubles battle, or a team 1v1 tournament? I think a standard 1 character per player rule always makes things more interesting to play and watch, but I will not likely make it to this one, so my input isn’t that important.
Hey brent is there a difference between a doubles battle and a team 1v1? If so please explain.
And yeah, the more I think about it, the more interesting it sounds to do a 1 character per player rule.
I was just wondering if it was doubles as in 2v2 (4 characters on the screen). Ex. Snake/Snake vs. Jiggly/Marth. Or how it would be in Street Fighter (Snake vs. Jiggly, then Snake vs Marth).
I think two of the same characters in 2 on 2 matches can be fun in Smash because its also about how they work together, but when its the same characters in 1v1 battles, you end up with things like Chun fests in 3rd Strike, and its really boring.
Brent, this was towards a 2 v 2 sfiv tournament =p.
Here’s what I suggest for 2v2:
No same characters on a team (so no teams consisting of 2 vipers, or 2 ryu’s etc.)
You can only use 1 character through the whole tournament.
Elimination format, team a vs team b
1pa vs 1pb - 1pb wins
2pa vs 1pb - 2pa wins
2pa vs 2pb - 2pb wins: team b moves on and team a is sent to losers/eliminated.
ALSO, is it 2 out of 3 rounds, or 3 out of 5 rounds for singles and the 2v2??
2 out of 3 rounds and yeah the rule will be no 2 of the same characters per team and you have to use the same character the entire tournament.
Sounds like fun.

Will be both. No way we’d ditch 1v1 for 2v2. 2’s is just another way to hopefully bring some of the community together, and allow for some fun in variation. Lookin forward to seeing what teams people come up with!

I did that for a tekken tag tournament (teammate couldn’t make it), my team consisted of:
Frank (hat to the front) - kazuya/anna
And
Frank (hat to the back) - armor king/anna
I ended up taking 3rd randomly.

lol awesome. Reminds me of a smash tournament i went to where someone needed a partner…but there was noone, so he went with a lvl 9 link.
and won 1 match for sure, maybe even 2.
Also, we will be rock paper scissoring our partner for who plays first and second before every match.
Good thing you know not my secret RPS strategy…
I just use a really, really big rock.
Who’s everyone teaming with? Just curious, and If people can’t find a partner, pm me and I can try n match someone up with you…know a few locals that arn’t exactly regulars on here.
I also highly recommend going outside of your friends to fine partners, as much as most of us will stick with peopel we know, it’s a great way to bring more people into the community and get to know your PacNW players
