Game mechanics? Parry/counters/reversals

I can see lots of people using Cross Assault for fun, like during a party or something, but that’s about it.

IMO they should have kept it that way. That shizz brought back good memories of MvC.

Oh, wow… did they change Cross Assault? I thought it was explained before that you’d be taking “turns” doing a move with each character. That was the one new & weird feature I was actually looking forward to.

Too many scrubs complained about possible bullshit… which was the exact same thing alot of us were looking forward too.

:frowning:
+1 feature that’s essentially useless.

So apparently alpha counters make everyones reversal good.

Doesn’t it completely ignore block stuns too?

well they are not all anti-air moves so…it varies…Abel’s is a roll…so ya i think it’ll be character specific

apparently most SF character’s got jump cancel-able Normals

Might as well just edit the post to fix the mistaken information.

Ryu LMH wallbounce -> pandora -> Juri super does 479. Her super does 268, which is equivalent to ~447 at 60% scaling.

Her super does 351 damage normally, so Pandora adds ~27% here. No gems on either character.

But her dive kick goes from 40 to 49 damage with Pandora AND an attack gem, which is only a 22.5% boost.

In the FingerCramp stream during the Lili/Law training mode Lili’s pandora super does 274 damage at 80% scaling, which is equivalent to ~343 raw. Her super seems to do 300 damage normally, so that’s a 14% boost from Pandora.

Maybe character-specific scaling? Move-specific scaling? Dunno.

did anyone catched someone doing a cross cancel (f+mp+mk) in any stream btw?

Changing Cross Assault is a terrible decision imo, how can a competitive fighting game have a mechanic that depends on the CPU playing? They might as well take that out right now, cause it’s gonna be useless.

Did they at least say why? If it’s because it was OP then they could have found better way to balance it, like making it last shorter or reducing damage.
Or cut pandora out of the game and make this the new pandora with the same penalty if you don’t ko your opponent.

They seriously changed Cross Assault? That REALLY sucks. I had no idea. That was going to be the mode with the most potential… things like unblockables or just crazy mixups.

Where has this been confirmed?

C’mon d3v, lets think about it.

Amount of scrubs complaining about gems = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Amount of scrubs complaining about pandora = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Amount of scrubs complaining about cross assault = xxxxxxxxxxx

It got nerfed due to what Capcom’s internal testers were doing with it more than some scrubs complaining at the event as well as on SRk. It got fuck all bitching compared to gems and pandora and they haven’t changed, if fact pandora got better.

I would imagine it was changed because the alternate control of each character would limit the combos you were able to do with each. There’s nowhere near enough time for someone to enter the inputs quick enough for both characters to flow properly.

Having said that when you play 2v2 with 4 humans, or 2v2 with 2 humans on one side, each person still controls their character. THAT could be interesting, though it doesnt last very long >.> Overall I think it still needs a couple of revisions. I know it’s totally against this site’s ethos but what if your partner’s combos were pre-define? perhaps some form of QTE where each button is a different pre-determined combo. I dunno how it is now it just seems pointless, especially considering how much meter it uses.

yeah it’s pretty much a 2 player thing now or a level 3 taunt.

Fuuuckkk it, stupid interna;l testers should know beeetter than to tell Capcom about broken shizz that we’d want to use later.

Shitheads…

byt the way I’m kinda drunk. a bottle of brandy does tha to you.

Since Dan isn’t in the game they decided to make the Legendary Taunt a system mechanic.

“Ohhh, you getting raped? Here, I’ll let you play arcade mode with my characters for 5 seconds”

There was some game footage from korea i think where people were doing big combos with it, so controlling the other character probably wasn’t the issue there.

It’s disappointing that they decided to balance it in such a dumb way, cause if it’s gonna end up being useless then it’s sad cause it’s a wasted mechanic, but if it’s gonna have its uses, even if limited to just a few situations, it’ll probably feel retarded and unfair.
The CPU in SF4 has godlike reflexes when it comes to AA, catching people trying to jump away (rose can soul throw you as soon as you leave the ground trying to jump away), or doing a command grab at the right time, so unless they’re gonna set the AI to a low difficulty it may have its uses…for example: if you need to finish off your opponent and have full meter but he still has a chance to make a comeback with a big combo and you are afraid of that, you can call in your partner and just keep playing as you normally would while the cpu proceeds to annoy your opponent. Even if it’s the dumbest AI ever, it’s still an extra character that your opponent has to be aware of.
At least the big combos require a bit of execution and being able to control 2 characters at the same time.

Also if online you can fight people playing with a friend, it’s gonna be uneven when they activate their CA and start to combo you to death.

You got to also remember that some of the computers can actually combo while others dont
