Gainesville Thread: Van was a d*** anyways

Don’t know about the pricing but i’m 90% sure it won’t have an english dub. It is only getting released on PSN after, not a full-blown disc release. But I could be wrong. That doesn’t matter though. You’ll be able to learn how to hit other buttons with Weiss other than j.C.

Yeah that I did. In terms of turnout, street fighter was fairly weak. There were some new faces, but no one that really stuck around. Smash bros always had a big turnout…like 40+. The soul calibur tournaments I ran had a bunch of people too…about 30+.

Ok so I’m trying to figure out what I should bring so we have everything we need to play. I’m bringing my ps3 with AH3, my ps2 with MB, my 360 HD for kof2002 and my monitor. We can have mvc3 on the ps3 in the living room, have my monitor with AH3 and MB next to it and have another mvc3 setup on 360 in robs room with kof2002. Sound good to everyone?

I got the 2nd crt set up so you don’t have to bring the monitor.

Ok cool on my way now.

Honestly, we live in a college town, and UF has a lot of people playing fighting games but they’re just scattered in little groups. I know another small group of people (5-6) that gather from my old job, except they’re maybe a small knotch above scrub. Kind of what Dave was saying, people are there to play, except not a whole lot of people who try to learn the game as much as they generally can.

at that gator gaming event, there were a good handful of people who were pretty good, except we didn’t bother recruiting them as we should have.

I think getting flyers is a great idea. If it happens, I’ll definitely help out. It really can’t hurt, and it’s fairly cheap to do.

good to see everyone today, GG’s in super and mahvel. i’m so ass at both, but its good to play with people who know what theyre doing.

always willing to help in any way to grow the community. as people have been mentioning, its hard to keep people attention with fighting games, if they dont want to learn the game then its really frustrating to keep losing to better players.

ive played some games with a few people from the gator gaming club and they were just lost causes. didnt want to listen to anything and just want to complain about shit or make false statements just because they cant get around something.

eh in any event, i’ll look forward to the next gathering. i’m off sun, mon, and wed night if anybody wants to get some games in.

and as i always mention, if anyone wants to pick up tekken i can teach it (lol desperate)

I agree, tekken is the bestest game ever.

It great seeing you guys again  Yesterday was my record for getting from Ocala to Gainesville haha. Took me about 25 minutes to get there but over an hour to get home cause I-75 S’s traffic was terrible. My friend who was coming from Orlando at about the same time to meet up with me got to Ocala before I did. Thats how bad it was.

I’m very happy you guys had 3S running. I haven’t played the PS2 version in a LOOOONG time (I played pad when I did) and it felt so much easier than on GGPO. Hopefully you guys will want to pick it up  Good games all over.

Also, May 20, I am planning on running an SSF4 & MvC3 tournament. It’ll be a bit later in the day though. Like 5pm start time. But I’ll have at the very least 2 set-ups. I’m not sure what kind of turn out to expect. I’m planning on using 2 of the rooms so that can fit about 30 people. I’ll run it correctly with actual winner/loser brackets and entry fee goes to pot. I am also going to add my own money into the pot if we reach a certain amount of people. example if 16 people enter, I’ll throw in $10. If 24 people enter, I’ll throw in $25 etc. I don’t expect to fill up a 32 man bracket but if that happens, I’ll open up another room for us.

I kind of like having that 3rd tv in my house set up for whatever. Yesterday we had Hyper Fighting, 3s and melty blood going at random times, while people were still able to play ssf4 and marvel whenever they wanted on the other tvs. If we can get at least as many people as yesterday then it’ll be sweet.

I feel a little bad about tekken not taking off. I feel pretty stretched between marvel and sf nevermind bringing a third game into the mix. The obvious solution is to force dave to drive up here every time we meet. Let’s go Dave!

The tournament sounds sweet Thanh. Remind me again when it gets closer!

GGs yesterday, it was pretty awesome playing other games besides SSFIV and MvC3. I told you guys TMNT TF wasn’t that bad of a game lol. I can start bringing my T6 copy next time I stop by home, and we can all be scrubs at that game.

I might just have to get to advertising once I’m done with my chem exam tomorrow. Exactly when should we start ranbats though? When do finals start?

The week of the 26th I believe.

Should we hold it off til Fall then? I don’t think many people would be here during the summer term (myself included) and we don’t have much time in between now and finals week.

Well the dude at the gator gaming forum said there should be a tournament this spring… so maybe we can find dudes then.

Haven’t made it back to another gathering, but I met someone yesterday who surprised me when he said he played. I might invite him along with me the next time I show if he can make it. Not sure how good he is, but he said he has a stick at any rate.

Awesome! Unless I post otherwise lets do saturday again from noon to 8.

I used to have tekken 6 back in like october but I didn’t want to tell dave in fear of getting bodied lol. It’ll be fun to play it again.

oh dont worry i’ll be able to do the bodying in daves’ place.

lol glad to hear it.

My alisa mashing is unparalleled.
