Yeah i was reading the amazon reviews from people and all I care about is a dpad really similar to the dualshock. If it is then i don’t mind having like an hour or so learning curve with that. I just can’t deal w/ 360 pad. And since alot of upcoming tourneys are this month and next and since my 2 converters I bought don’t seem to be working (unless I can get someone w/ a 360 console to look at it and see if i’m doing something wrong) then I’ll just go for these. And i’m really good on pad and feel comfortable with it and down here at option select I can go head to head w/ the Marvel players here w/ my ps3 pad so I don’t feel like making the switch especially due to the cost and learning curve when I am not seeing any disadvantage w/ me playing on pad so far.
I have like three of these, and the feel is nothing like the ps3 pad. Honestly, after an hour or a few it feels better. The D-pad motions are pretty flawless. The only drawback is the reason i have three is because the first two died. The most ive gotten out of one is 8-9 months. You can borrow one of mine if you want to try it out for a few weeks,i’m in gainesville almost every day
Also, the buttuns feel more responsive than the ps3 or 360 buttons. I can even plink with them.
O cool man and yeah for sure. I would really like to try them out and if possible could i borrow them to see how they are? And yeah as long as the dpad is better than 360’s and if i can do zero’s down lightning move whenever i want or other moves without dropping them then i’ll be cool.
I work at Shands mon-fri. I can bring them to work and you could meet me in the food court or something. just pm me when you want me to bring them
tourney in september guys. I invited most of you on fb if not check out the link. $200 guaranteed to 1st place winner in SSF4:AE!!!
Ok cowboy cool! I get back to town this saturday!
That’s fine that you’re good with it, but what happens when the next gen of consoles come out and you’re fucked again? I don’t really buy the money excuse since you’ve shown a willingness to travel, pay for hotel rooms, etc just to pursue this hobby and be competitive. How much money did you spend to go to CEO and do poorly (your words, not mine) solely because of an equipment malfunction? How much have you spent on 2 controller adaptors and however much a new controller costs? I don’t want to turn this into a whole, “OMG rob thinks I’m stupid because he uses stick and I use pad” but I really think its in your best interest - long term - to go stick.
Honestly, the learning curve is about a month which is plenty of time before the major tournament season hits again.
Hey guys, I’m been playing in Miami for some time now and I’m looking for players up here in gainesville to meet up and do casuals and what not. I’m sure it’s already been posted a million times so I apologize in advance, but I was wondering if there was any place you guys meet regularly to play?
Welcome! Casuals are at my place usually once a weekend. When you get to Gainesville send me a PM and I’ll send directions your way.
I understand where your coming from but idk I just feel comfortable with a dpad already and I just feel like sticking with it you know. And i can see what your saying about next gen consoles and such. But i figure that i’ll just deal with that aspect in a few yrs when they do come out. And i see your points with the money i spent and such on everything.
Hey brian what’s up. Was wondering if you go to ZP in ft. lauderdale? Because i know a few people from the MIA area that go there to practice and such.
Good games to you guys yesterday. Sorry I couldn’t make it out to the casuals afterwards. Was modding someones arcade machine and we didn’t wrap up til 11:45.
I keep wanting to come out that way and get my crackout session with Petey and run FT10s with anyone who’s interested but keep getting jammed up with B.S. (read: work).
Petey: We missed you out here. Hope to see you on the next trip.
i currently play pad and just saving up for a MCZ TE stick. The down/forward is something i need for the characters i use and the four gate is more reliable than missing out on a Wesker/Dante OTG. i know i drop combos or block improperly just because i was a cm too close to the down or left/right motion. what i don’t look forward to is going from pad to stick. i’ve played on my friend’s TE and it felt very comfortable so i know i can get used to it fast. especially for AE cause using option-selects on pad feels like cheating to me, lol
GGs Chris. One of these days I’ll organize a decent tournament here…
Yo Rob, we need to start working on our ST game for real. Even though it was only five people that was still fun. Wish we could have played casuals for it after but the AE tourney took over.
Still trying to get all the salt out of my mouth after my horrendous AE performance. Not really sure what to do about that problem.
Phil if you have any interest in learning stick I would be willing to let you borrow my PS3 TE for awhile (you play on ps3 right?). My ps3 broke so it is not like I am doing a whole lot with it right now. Starting stick sucks for a few weeks but I like playing on it more than I did on pad. Mostly because it is more fun to hit buttons on arcade stick haha. Also not having to worry about different system controllers is a plus.
Yeah I got plenty of ST casuals in after the tournament at Drew’s place. Had some tough matches against Mike and Geoff.
I’m perfectly fine with giving up AE in favor to go ST full time.
Stick to pad. Don’t listen to anyone.
Phil it’s not like you are restricted by pad and can’t do combo’s because of it. Some people are meant to play pad and some people are meant to play stick. Considering marvel doesn’t really take any execution at all (unless you are playing magneto) then playing it on pad is fine.
Kirbilot:
Did I play you during the tournament? I don’t know everyone by their SRK tag yet.
Yeah i think i’ll just stick w/ pad. Already familiar with the controls and i just need to get one of those controllers or find out how to work the converter and i’ll be good so no worries on that end.
Has anyone seen that new SF X T trailer!! That game looks awesome and it looks like my kinda game, fast paced, lots of stuff happening on the screen and SF and Tekken characters. And i’m kinda liking the artstyle too.
