Some advice you probally have already heard don’t risk it on Vick! Take a chance on rookies this year (in later rounds, of course)
Playing Dee Jay in ST and hitting cross up forward, cr. jab cr.jab st.strong xx hk dread kicks and getting DP’d by fei long in between hits of dread kicks.
Nothing like seeing 5 hit combo on my side of the screen and reversal on the other side.
No it is an actual combo. If both hits of the dread kicks hit its a 6 hit combo, but sometimes that last hit doesn’t combo and leaves an opportunity to dp there.
Anyone recommend this product or know if its good. I just mainly want to know if the dpad is better than the 360’s and if it feels similar to the dualshock dpad?
Though pad players seem to be pretty particular about their preferences so you might want to try one before purchase. Also I’ve heard some players complain that the rubber piece beneath the dpad can wear out easily and make it harder to execute stuff but also that Madcatz is really good about replacing that infamous part for free.
I still say you should go stick. What happens when the ps4/xbox720 comes out and you have to adapt to a completely new pad? Make the switch and go through a month of hell and then never worry about peripherals again.
i think stick’s advantages are things like karas and plinking, and from what I’ve gathered, I’m pretty sure plinking comes in handy for mvc3 for advanced techniques. i agree, you should make the switch unless you have pretty damn rock solid execution on the pad. if so, then I guess keep rolling with it. Dave’s always been a good testament to kicking ass on pad.
Yeah, I mean its certainly possible to be godlike on pad and there are even some advantages (i guess buffering is easier, but things like vipers feints arent)… but even dave has problems with compatibility and notices lag on his converter. Not sure if he’s fixed that issue since the last time I talked to him though. You might want to PM him phil (yimaxi).
For context, check out the latest Wake Up srk podcast. Latif is the guest and he talks about how he needed to switch to a stick to complete in an SBO qualifying event for guilty gear way back in the day. He notes the differences in pad vs stick and talks about how it affects his viper play vs wolfkrone’s viper play.
