Well, starting slow means that more people can get involved in helping, that way it’s not just one or two individuals busting their asses all the time to get things working, that combined with summer coming up should mean for at least one good meetup before school starts again (for those that aren’t taking summer classes) we’ll just have to see what happens, yeah?
You still having that gathering before you leave Rob?
Hey guys so I asked again on the CEO board about a convertor and some guy told me that this was the best one.

so should i buy this one instead of the other one that someone was suggesting?
Doesn’t look like I’ll be able to. School is stupid.
Eh I personally don’t think its worth it.
My brother uses Joytron (a Korean convertor) and as far as I’ve seen it works perfectly as long as the PS2 pad is in good shape. We had an SSF4 day where we switched mediums of control and I was doing all of my regular Cammy combos and some of the more difficult ones perfectly along with the Balrog loop.

We HIGHLY recommend this one. The only downside is its not a direct conversion (ex. [] =/= X)
Ok so I just ordered this one since it was the cheapest and I read all the user comments so I hope it works. The only things that I need now are a WIRED XBOX360 controller and a PS2 controller and I have none so I was wondering if anyone here had either that they could let me borrow for CEO?
O and also the wired 360 controller has to be the official 1st party controller as well as the PS2 one.
Ugh… I didn’t realize how much harder it was to loosen an arcade stick spring than it was to tighten it. Ehhhhh, oh well.
Thank god…I was a day early for before the discounted price for CEO went away.
Good luck to everybody at CEO! I wish I could go but I will just be getting back from my honeymoon so it won’t happen this year.
Also been trying to form a mvc3 team so I can get in on the action next time. So far all I have is a goofy She Hulk/Iron Man combo that probably isn’t worth doing in a match. Stayed up until 2am trying to do sweet Magneto combos one night but all I got was hand cramps.
I’ll be back in the US on the 17th but probably won’t be able to meet up until a week or so later. I’d really be up for getting shit going at 1982, playing somewhere that people can randomly walk up and play is a lot more fun than having to have people find us via a sub-forum on SRK. I’ll be in Gainesville all summer after I get back so anyone else that is still there let’s make sure we keep the scene going.
For the 1982 shit I also have a 24" monitor and PS3.
Awesome! Glad to have you back. I think your last time at Van’s was my first and I’m anxious to see if I’ve improved since you bodied me on that first day.
Nah son you’re still ass…play a real mans game like arcana.
just signed up for CEO. Who wants to practice for it with me? I ain’t getting even close to placing, but it’ll be fun for shits and giggles.
Fixed that for you.
almost forgot today is last day for register CEO. see you guys there.
so are you guys hype for ssf4: kung fu edition? or is it dive kick edition.
It can be that, or ssf4: protect russia’s skies edition or ssf4: get chopped by a muff muncher edition.
Hey Vannue I don’t mind practicing with you. And for anyone who signed up for MvC3 like have any of you guys thought about signing up for team tournaments? Or is that something you guys will think about a few days before or like the 1st day there?
For AE I recommend everyone learning a character that is good against the twins because otherwise you’re not going to have fun playing against Yun and Yang. You can’t keep Yun out because his EX lunge is -2 on block and that startup is generally too fast to reliably react to. Once he’s in certain characters pretty much can’t do anything except get really lucky on hail mary guessing.
There’s a solid amount of characters that do well enough vs. them. I just stick with Chun and if someone chooses Yun I immediately switch over to Boxer or Honda. Ken is supposedly good vs. the twins but I haven’t figured out why even though I’m alright with him. I think Gief is their worst matchup. You basically want a character that can punish at least some of the divekicks on reaction and also that has some kind of option to get out at all once they start shallow dive kicking over and over. For example Chun can’t do anything one they are shallow kicking, EX SBK will just whiff so you basically have to sit there blocking until you eat a command grab. You can’t late tech either (like you can against Rufus) because of the command grab threat. Characters that can “do something” you at least keep them honest and don’t allow them to divekick over and over for free once they are in, but the twins are still at a huge advantage in this situation.
I like boxer and Honda because they have high enough HP that they can afford to guess wrong a few times trying to get out and they both do enough damage that they can make the most every opportunity that they get in or get a knockdown. Also Honda’s chop is really good against high divekicks as is Rog’s standing fierce from max range. Both of these characters are decent at trying to keep them out, but again EX lunge is a get in for one bar thing that you can’t do much to deter or punish at all.
Glad to hear that honda is still viable in AE. I’ll have to have you put me through some intense training sessions right before CEO.
How are Honda’s air-to-air normals? Is his neutral jump fierce still godlike? I would use honda’s chop a lot against rufus/akuma’s dive kicks but I’d still have problems. Lots of matches against Petey hasn’t really helped there either.
