Gainesville Thread: Help yourself to the fridge, but don't touch my beer

I actually used Julia when out Tekken 4 machine actually worked. She was the only character I liked. In T6, I really like Alisa but I don’t really like Tekken enough to actually buy it and then learn it.

It’s not something I would get too involved with…it’s fun to play casually.

EDIT: Jon are you still able to go to the ranbats in orlando this sunday?

Boy do I love it when my notifier doesn’t update me when I get back home that this website changed everything. Ass, I don’t like this at all.

Anyways, sorry I couldn’t make it, folks. I had work, and I may be able to weasel out of it this Sunday, if I have it. If not I’ll be right back in that beast ready to rip.

Edit: The only characters worth it in Tekken are Steve, Hworang, Law, and Jin. /trollface.

But really though, my Steve was serious. (Mashin’ it out!)

SO is anyone going to CEO next month?

Yeah. I already have reservations for a room made. Right now its me, matt and petey. You can be the fourth if you want. Let me know soon though. I won’t be having more than 4 people stay in my room and if you can’t go I’ll probably offer it to someone else.

I really want to go and I’ll gladly appreciate it if I can come along. I don’t mind being fourth and splitting the cost if that’s cool. I won’t get payed until the beginning of next month though so if that’s cool with you I can pay you once I get payed.

Yeah that’s fine. I got the room for friday and saturday night. Total cost was around $170 so it should be pretty cheap to split that 4 ways.

Ok sweet  And yeah now since I’m pretty much going I have to buy a ps3 to 360 controller converter online

I should be able to, unless family matters come up.

Also, crap, I completely forgot about CEO. Time to figure out something for that.

I’ve heard they can introduce lag. You might want to just practice with a 360 pad.

If you get the right kind there’s no lag. Just don’t spend more than like 10 bucks on one…you’re getting robbed if you do that.

I remember dave had problems with his converter at the last ocala tournament I went to. Haven’t talked to him in a while though.

The kid I was playing with at the Ocala tourny didn’t say anything about lag, I forgot his name but it seemed like things were going alright for him.

I imagined Dormammu chuckling as he said that thanks to your picture.

Ok so I’ll post a link of the converters that I am thinking of buying but if worst comes to worst I guess i can try and practice on the 360 pad at one of our meetups just in case u know. But here were the ones i was thinking of getting.

Which one would you guys recommend?

The Dhgate one was the one the kid was using, it seemed like it worked alright. But I mean, if you have the parts to spare and feel like learnin’ something, should dual-mod your controller =D. Fun stuff! The only one that I know of that works is the first link, never played with the others, so that’s the only one I can speak for.

Hey guys, I’ve been doing some more thinking and I’ll probably give up on the idea of ranbats. It’s hard to tell who’s gonna show up at a consistent rate, especially in a city like Gville. Instead we can maybe do monthly tournies like Orlando’s Will’s Pub or Tampa’s Cafe Alma.
I’m thinking of doing these tournies at the 1982 bar downtown. It’s open for all ages and Monday nights are Video Game Nights with no cover and $1 for beer (for you drinkers). They only have old-school video games but we can provide setups, right? Besides, their Monday night events are the “beat the pro” kinda deal, so why can’t we do our own thing?

The biggest problems though are location and day/time. I have Physics lab Tuesday morning myself…

This is a fantastic idea, both for getting visibility and for $1 beers. I don’t think set ups will be an issue. Petey has an Asus, I have my monitor, I might buy an Asus we we get a decent thing going and all of us have systems. That’s more than enough equipment.

What’s wrong with the location? Its right next to campus. Also… if you have lab on tuesday morning… then man up and get your shit done in advance. If you’re up all night right before lab finishing up that report then you’re doing it wrong anyway. If nothing else monday night fights will force you to get your shit together.

I’d stop by 1982 and set shit up but I have crazy life stuff going on. I have to finish some research stuff before I leave town on saturday. I won’t be back until the first weekend of june so it’ll be a while until I can host again.

Someone should step up and get that shit started!

Yeah I thought setups weren’t gonna be MUCH of a problem, they probably won’t even give us space for a lot of setups when we first start out.

When I said location was a problem I had people without rides in mind, though I can do my part and offer rides. You do have a point about lab considering it’s supposedly easy. lol

But yeah, I won’t be there to pay them a visit, but I guess I can call them up and see if it’s all good. I kinda wanna have bi-monthlies instead of monthly but I’m probably just getting way ahead of myself.

I agree. At this point there’s really no way we would be able to do weeklies. There’s no rule saying we can’t start with monthlies and then switch to more frequent events if we get attention. I think it’s just a matter of time before our scene blows up. At least I hope XD
