In gameplay videos, it almost looks like his flight movement is almost like Sentinel’s, but he’s much smaller. I look forward to Max’s stuff, but he’s not here right now, and I want it right now! Haha.
I always liked the idea of Dormammu/Morrigan. Call me a basement virgin, but I dig the fanshipping between them somewhat, and Dormammu with excess meter is every so enjoyable. I didn’t do it before because Morrigan was just to “bleh” to play as. After seeing Eugene use her at SDCC, I’m convinced she’s at least worth giving another shot. At the very least, I know I’ll be using Firebrand/Dormammu/??? if Morrigan doesn’t work out.
I dig. My personal idea is to use the level 3 against heavies, and zone my opponents with fireballs + helper fireballs while calling Morrigan assist to keep my meter up. The level 3 lasts long enough that I think it’s feasible for Firebrand to keep it up permanently since he can build meter.
I like that description.
That sounds beautiful.
With all of his options, I figured he’s be at 800K, so around there is delightful.
Yeah, I saw that vid, he’s clearly OTGing with GR, not Firebrand assist. I skimmed through the archives for comic-con, and while a lot of people pick that assist, I couldn’t find anyone using it in a combo.
It’s not a big deal, and it looks like it *should OTG. *I’m just skeptical.
Are his aerial normals dash or flight cancelable at all? If he has unlimited air dashes in flight mode with normals that cancel into air dashes, I can see him being very frightening.
I wonder how Firebrand’s synergy with shuma might be? I want to make a monster-themed team just for giggles. I was thinking Shuma, Firebrand and someone else (Nemesis?)
if his creeping fireball does OTG, I can see it being a good combo utility for shuma gorath, and at the same time since Firebrand is a rushdown-esque character, he can probably benefit from Shuma’s ray assist.
Yes but firebrand could do what I like to do with other characters. In the corner you end a combo with hyper mystic ray into powerup super into a reset. You can also hyper mystic smash full screen powerup super and continue combo or go for mixups if the super was not in a combo. Also its relatively easy to DHC into shuma’s hyper mystic smash since the DHC skips all the start up of the super.
I’ve been thinking a lot about his ground Bon Voyage. It’s solid normally, but in Luminous Body it moves super fast and leads to a full combo. I think it will be wise, as Firebrand players, to leave our opponents with a spec of life to encourage them to raw tag. Play like they won’t though, and just throw out a fireball to try and chip their point character out. If they raw tag, cancel into Luminous Body and Bon Voyage the incoming character for a full combo; you’ll build the meter back easy.
Firebrand is pretty special; I think he is the only character in the game with a self-buff hyper that works in the air. With his mobility options, I think he’ll rival Trish as being one of the “safest” characters in the game. Especially when your Luminous Body cancels lead to full combos so easily.
