hows this guys synergy with arthur ya think and what’s his power up hyper combo do?

I think it just makes him super fast.

And I think the synergy would be solid… Firebrand can use knives or powered up firebottle to rushdown and zone. Idk how Arthur would benefit, because idk Firebrands assist.

Seems like they’d be pretty similar characters. I’d imagine you’d want a 3rd with a lot of health.

They aren’t anything like each other in any way… and Arthur is getting a health boost come UMvC3. I don’t think we know Firebrand’s health yet.

Apparently it speeds him up and gives him some new moves, although Im yet to see any of these moves, twas just what seth said on the stream.

Okay, I’ve put some time into Firebrand, so I’ll talk about what i know:
His wallbounce grab is not a full grab, its a hit. When it connects, it becomes the grab…think weapon X prime, etc.
A lot of his moves auto-initiate flight. this alone makes him one of the most awkward characters to control at the moment, because you’re never really sure when you’re not going to be able to block. however, he appears to have moves that only work in flight, leading to interesting combo and loop potential.
He appears to have a dive kick loop of some kind - divekick, auto fly, dive kick, etc.This gives him amazing pressure strings.
Luminous Body is a speed boost, but sometimes its hard to notice. However, according to Neo_G, it apparently does affect the level 3. And yes, he can build meter during these, giving a lot of potential there.
The above, however, does seem to make him a somewhat meter dependent character. however, he does seem quite momentum based. if he can get his zoning started, its hard to stop it until he runs out of meter. If he starts rushing, hes hard to stop. However, if he DOES get stopped. he seems to be in a bit of trouble. But then again, thats where assists come in.
I’ve played him for almost every match of UMVC3 ive played, and i feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of the character. Hes a lot of fun, but im not concerned about him being a flying wolverine. If nothing else, he takes some semblance of skill to play lol.

Oh, side note - After playing him, i’d estimate Firebrand’s Health is 900, maybe 950K.

think firebrand will benefit arthur more than ghost rider hawkeye or strider?

I save Arthur for an anchor, so from my perspective I would think that he’d help out Hawkeye or Ghost Rider a lot because his daggars help with zoning. I don’t know what situations to use his other assists for though, so maybe he’d help Firebrand out a lot in those areas.

Since firebrand auto enters flight so much can he block during flight like Modok? Also is his otg assist useable in combos, like could i airgrab with cpt. america and otg with firebrand? Also does his powerup super improve his assists?

Yeah, there’s a combo in the Ghost Rider thread that shows that his OTG assist can be used for combos.

Yeah, I’m not sure why people thought that was a grab. It would be pretty ridiculous like that.

How fast/controllable is his flight, and how long does it last? Is it like MODOK, where you can start flight pre-match and just go to the top of the screen, or is it more like a normal flight mode, and only lasts 2 seconds, but it’s an important part of his game nonetheless? Is there an easy way to cancel flight with him without attacking?

Is that with frame advantage? Scary if so. Is the dive kick j.d+H?

Yeah, I noticed that, and I hope they keep it that way. I plan on running Firebrand/Dormammu/Morrigan on day one, and using Firebrands mobility to build a lot of meter safely while calling Dark Harmonizer. Firebrand seems like the kind of character that doesn’t really need assists to get along, but he’s also not very good at protecting them With Dark Harmonizer spamming, you might able to keep his level 1 or level 3 permanently active as long as you’re getting hits in during that time. Did you find any new moves he gets from Luminous Body? Can the level 3 helper still attack while he’s in blockstun/hitstun?

Eh, I think most of this game is very momentum based. That’s just part of Marvel. The primary reason the top tiers are the top tiers is because they are good at establishing that momentum. Low tier characters like Hsien-ko and Captain America have a heck of a time trying to establish the kind of pressure Wolverine can. It’s all about creating that first inch of momentum. Firebrand looks like he’s pretty good at establishing that momentum, unless your opponent has really strong anti-air assists like Jam Session or Hidden Missiles. I think those will be a problem for him.

Question: since Firebrand can control the level 3 helper and make it spit fireballs, is Firebrand able to effectively play keepaway through a combination of himself and the helper spitting fire around the screen?

Yeah, the comparisons to Wolverine are rather silly. I’d say he’s like a Trish with more rushdown ability and some awkward/unique movement options.

I honestly expected it to be in the 800K-850K range, so that’s a nice surprise.

Honestly, its not either from what i can tell - certainly not modoks, though. Because it’s so different, I’m really not sure how to describe it, and in some ways, control it. Its strange. However, I have no idea how long it lasts, due to the fact that if I were to test too long, I’d just get blown up. There should be a little bit of footage coming soon, a match of me and Maximilian - he recorded a LOT of footage, and i might be helping him with some new vids. Maybe.

I really dont know, because i havent tested the dive kick much. This was heresay.

Apparently we have more in common than i thought. I’m considering the same team, or at the very least giving Morrigan another shot - her new move is a blast.
However, from what I’ve seen, yeah, Firebrand *can *deal without assists, but i think that if he has the right assist, he becomes an absolute terror…like wesker, ya know?

for the blockstun question? no idea. I assume its exactly like felicia’s kitty helper. However, any time i did the arremer summon, one of two things happened:
1 - i got beam supered to death as i attempted to build momentum
2 - the opposing character got wrecked.
Me blocking never came into the equation lol

Not necessarily true, since Firebrand can play a variety of styles. Hes like magneto with tourettes.

Oh yeah. Especially with an assist layered on. And then x-factor means a ridiculously fast summon. Honestly, the Arremer summon is like the bastard child of Eddie from GG and Ouroboros. Blockstun, keepaway, traps, the whole 9 yards.
My favorite part, I think i’ve mentioned somewhere, was when i summoned the helper (HELLper, bah-dum-pssht), hit x-factor 2, and then simply used the buttons to control the helper from fullscreen, then started using bon voyage loops in conjunction with fireball spits to completely lock the opponent down.
