why is this stuff " unblockable"
What stuff? The unblockable thing is the Heavy version of his move “Demon Missile.” It’s unblockable because the game programmers made it so.
making that move unblockable was a stupid idea for game balance imo.
but…
I guess its time to exploit the tech to the maximum.
I dunno, seems fine to me. Firebrand does shit damage, and he has no overheads (besides his j.L into qcf+S, but that only works in either X-Factor or during buff super, and considering it starts with a light AND a move that can potentially add a lot of hits, and uses his wallbounce early on, it lowers his already low damage, even) or command grabs, and he doesn’t even have a (safe) move where he passes through someone, a la Berserker Slash or Captain America’s Cartwheel. Considering that it takes quite some time to charge, and unlike C. Viper’s Focus Attack it doesn’t absorb things, it seems perfectly fine to me.
He can also do it off of all fuzzy guard set ups against the majority of the cast including Zero.*
Fuzzy guard? In what way does that apply here?
I think Chrisis means j.A xx Bon Voyage in Luminous Body is useful in a fuzzy guard setup. Yes?
Yes, but why does fuzzy guard matter in this situation?
Sorry for not being clear, about Zero height and taller characters if you fuzzy guard set up you combo after air A without luminous by going into regular jump loops.IE: air 214B, s, -/, 9A, B, B, S -/ combo of choice
It allows you to do an instant overhead into a jump loop into combo if you catch them blocking low. Their body will still be standing because of the fuzzy guard, it will be useful if you can find places to pull it off. Good tech.
Okay, went into the lab and firebrand’s mix up is so incredibly silly. I’ve been running him mostly lame with occasional pokes, but here are some lab testing things with him.
With assists you can force un advance guardable fuzzy guard set ups with assist + super jump 214B, S hitting at the same time.
From fuzzies you can do any of the following.
2A:
5A:
9A:
2A:
214B + fast assist for early cross up.
2B
623B + assist for late cross up.
5A
5A:
throw
2A
9A (thanks to 5A’s crazy block stun you recover in time to make this a real option! O_o)
9A:
If fuzzy A
If fuzzy B
214A, 2A
214B + fast assist (cross up)
214A, throw
Late 214B, non cross up air A.
Karsticles advance guard destroying technique broke the game, I labbed some and found a meter positive way to keep it going by just doing an assist every third jump A or so, this also means if you have good timing you can do a 236C before one of the bon voyages since they can’t push block you and the assist at the same time.
If you get a last character in the corner and blocking you win as long as your execution is successful.
More importantly, if you have some bullshit like Wesker or X-23 on your team you just summon them and your infinite block string is also an unblockable set up cause this game is so intelligently designed!
Additionally Firebrand luminous body on point Viper assist anywhere:
9A+burn kick assist xx 236S, -/, 2C is unblockable in the corner, combos on hit and advance guard doesn’t help.
Ok you lost me. I don’t understand how to read this. Is it a list of option off of each different light attack after the fuzzy guard?
If so what is fuzzy A and fuzzy B?
Have you seen the new Desk video? Theres a pretty application for the helper in a combo there.

Fuzzy guard set ups mean that if an opponent blocked an attack high if they hold down back they maintain their standing hit box and if you hit they get put in standing hit stun. Because of this you can go into jump loops on characters who were trying to block low.
yeah I know what fuzzy guards mean, but I don’t know what your list/chart is?
After the j. qcb+M xx j.S attack that sets up the fuzzy guard, you’re listing options that you can do using cr.L, st.L, or j.L for an IOH into a jump loop combo right? So is everything else just mixups?
I thought if you used you assist to time the first attack that sets up the fuzzy guard so it is un-advance guardable, how would you call another assist to perform a L/R mixup? I can’t really picture it. You would have to put them into a string, which they can advance guard.
Huh. I can’t imagine reacting that quickly off of a j.A. My hands are already making the QCF motion to do Bon Voyage. More power to you if you can make use of that, though.
Anyway, I hope to see the anti-AG technology put to good use in tournaments. I’m glad to see you’re sticking to him when so many others are dropping him. He needs tournament representation!
I actually did this one in a match, but it was on accident and I couldn’t replicate it, so I thought it was a fluke. Now I know the d.H, H spam combo can be done on purpose! Time to look for setups…
Everything in the sub category are options after the first one that work for forcing the opponent to block and the like in various ways.
@Karsticles:
No need to reaction, just something else you can do without needing luminous on.
Ah, I see what you were getting at.
Expansion on options after 9A:
9A:
A
B
214A, 2A
214B + fast assist (cross up)
214A, throw
214B xx 214A 2A(cross up low)
214B xx early 214A 2A
214B xx 214A xx 214S (For a series of multiple overheads that end in bon voyage to go right back into it!
