oh, well for what its worth, you’ve already got Viper in there, and along with Firebrand, you’ve got two characters who have unblockable moves. Maybe you might want to consider an anchor like Ammy who can lock down opponents for a long time when they get snapped in or whatever, since Viper and Firebrand will both have an option to do it, your team gets pretty ridiculous upon initial jump in. I roll dante/firebrand/taskmaster specifically for this reason, though jam session isn’t as good as cold star, and task’s unblockable isn’t even close to viper’s.
I think the team would be fine in a lot of ways but Strider helps Firebrand and Viper’s neutral game too much and both get good follow ups on a connected AA hit. A lock down assist would also go very well with them, but most of them aren’t as solid at controlling the neutral game as Vajra.
New findings, dry tag combos of the style I posted earlier work with no adjustments on characters regardless of height, fat characters like Sentinel and Ammy force the tag to come from the wrong side preventing the combo if done in the same way.
That said instant overhead A works on everyone including Ammy and Rocket while they crouch, that attack is bloody fast. Firebrand’s fuzzy guard jump A loop works on characters even as short as Zero with a little adjustment!
On Zero you need to use A, A, B, S and the A’s need to be spaced very specifically, but this means you can set up fuzzy guard overhead solo set ups on the vast majority of the important cast.
Also, Vajra lets Firebrand hit greater damage when Viper’s dead since you can end combos with double super instead of just one.
What do the “V” and the “9” refer to in your combo notation?
Can you please explain how this is possible? Do you dry tag the minute they hit the wall? I wonder if this can be used by other characters for massive damage
I went home and had to test this myself after reading this at work. It is definitely challenging to get work, but I started holding down the assist for the tag like right before they hit the wall. I was attempting this with Wesker at first, hoping it’d fit my team, but the timing for that is super tricky. I was only able to get a relaunch once and had to start with crouching A to standing B/C/S. I tried it with Viper afterwards and it seemed way easier to hit the S after getting the dry tag. Gonna have to look and see who else can utilize this, I attempted it with Taskmaster afterwards but he couldn’t even hit the opponent on the dry tag. (Unless my timing was way off for some reason)
/ is land on the ground, 9 is the direction up forward, tis for double jumps and the like.
Just hold tag during the bon voyage animation and Viper comes in and her foot hits them just before they touch the ground giving them the mini pop up from tag, giving her enough time to S against most characters.
Not sure how many of you are aware of the tech here (only been messing with Firebrand on the side, might pick him up for maining soon)
But here’s some nice unblockable setups with Demon Missile H.

Nice set ups, have you tried it with Jam session? Seems pretty spiffy as is! The Sent one I’m pretty sure wasn’t stable thanks to when the drones hit and when they can act, but the Ammy one seemed excellent!
jesus christ. I’m suprised no one’s been bitching about this yet XD that would make scrubs online rage!
I’m honestly shocked it’s straight up unblockable. That’s REALLY ballsy of capcom.
People are too busy saying he has no damage to realize how bonkers this character is.
I love everything about Firebrand. This character is amazing. I feel like I have so many options in every situation.
The unblockable setups are frightening, just being able to string together combos into unblockable setups sounds like it’s going to make a lot of people frustrated at the game. Maybe we should be thankful that Firebrand isn’t getting the respect he deserves atm, or we’d be seeing this all over the place.
Using Vajra assist you can switch sides before launching for bon voyage in case you need to face toward/away from the corner, 2C+Vajra, S xx 2147B, 236C, land, S to switch sides. ^.^

Found this xfactor loop in the lab today. It may only work in the corner, but it’s easy to set up with firebrand after a bon voyage since it takes you straight to the corner. In xfactor level 3 this loop does around 1.1mil damage. Not bad for one meter. With an unblockable on the corner, I feel that this may lead to dead characters with the right assist.
Not bad, but wouldn’t it be easier and a guaranteed kill to just go for the slide > fireball loop once you land a hit?
hello i’m new to umvc3 and fighting games in general and i’m doing some research in order to build up my team. I really like firebrand moves, but because i’m new i’m opting for easier characters. I know that all of them requires hardcore combos but some of them have easier bnb combo. I’d like to know if firebrand has some easy setups or are more hard ones.
thanks in advance
Hey all, does anyone know if firebrand have forced tech moves? I use hidden missile assist and I’m trying to figure out an unblockable setup for his h. demon missile with no luck.
Chrisis, how do you get viper to combo after a raw tag from bon voyage I can’t seem to hit the S for the life of me, they also always land too fast.
Hi Happy,
Granted I’ve been playing FGs seriously for over a decade, my opinion might be a little biased. That being said, I think that Firebrand has very straightforward combos compared to the rest of this game’s cast. There is nothing too tricky about connecting or timing his basic combos, and outside of the X-Factor loops and potential Luminous Body scum yet-to-be-discovered, I haven’t seen anything that someone couldn’t execute with ease after some time in training mode.
However, what I do think is complicated with Firebrand are his movement options. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m still not quite comfortable with the way his airborne movement works, probably because I’m used to being able to input airborne dashes, as opposed to actual commands.
Seriously though, Firebrand is one of the least intimidating characters I’ve played in terms of combo/execution threshold, so you should definitely put the effort in if you think he suits your playstyle otherwise.
Cheers!
